>> and so in keeping to that tradition, this is a creative space that really centers black boys while serving all and really supports young men to find their voice and music, film, animation, video, tv, podcasting and fashion. >> i grew up listening to neo soul, listening to erykah badu. >> carl. >> tyron. [music] >> folks like mos def, folks like nas, tupac. [music] i like a lot o classic hip hop. [music] i still like to listen to a lot of jazz, a lot of miles davis. yeah, in my house. so i think those type of things, those type of genres, really influence those kind of vibes. i get to work on films, i get to do music here. i get to record music, write music, produce music. >> i can feel it in my blood and my bones and in my genes. i know that time coming, my desire to be free. my name is khalil chapman. i'm the director of the

fellowship initiative, which is our college access program here with i walk with all love because spirit is guiding me. allow me to be thankful for what is inside of me. it was a blessing to, like, work together in this capacity with alonzo. we're like work side by side with the fellowship initiative. so to step in the studio and kind of bring the same energy, a lot of what we try to do is take it back with some history, bring some facts and some information in so that young people can really be inoculated and surrounded by positive imagery, positive messaging. but some of it is just like the relaxed feeling of some neo soul vibes. some of it feels like driving by the lake on a sunday. [music] because that experience that we had as young folks in oakland felt like love. we knew that to be love. and so yeah, the album will kind of bring you to different, different spots. >> i put that pen to that paper and set my spirit free.

>> it is profanity free, but the realest thing is that it's life affirming. and for me, that's more about like writing about what i believe. like writing about what i live, where i'm from, whose i am the people that i represent, like that experience in my life isn't negative and doesn't actually represent anything that i would need to use profanity for. >> if he's so healing to love. >> yeah, the music influences that that list is really, really long. even when we think about just hearing the bay with like, tony, tony, tony, >> gucci baby, let me hear you say, oh. >> and too short and the jacka and all of these like, brilliant folks who, who kind of created a sound, a soundtrack to where we're from. >> loving my skin and i. know it comes from within. >> and so the album black love is really a reclamation of our

beauty brands and innate greatness and that that we love each other. we come from a culture that is vibrant, that is beautiful, that is influenced folks, not not only just within oakland, the bayhe united states, but globally. >> and in writing this, this album, we wanted it to be for everybody, for everybody's ears, for everybody to listen to. even though it's called black love, everybody can contribute to black love, and everybody can benefit from black love. and everybody deserves some black love in their life. you saw the light. so we flipping the switch and we going to change the storyline and get to flipping the script. it's all love. [music] >> hey, i know you feeling the love. if he so really to us. >> and many involved say king makers music should remind all of us the potential for hope and change largely lies within oakland's youth. you can find the album downloadable on your favorite streaming platform. >> well, tomorrow is president's day, when the country the holidy

was originally intended to celebrate george washington's birthday, but it evolved to honor all u.s. presidents, past and present. presidents day has fallen on the third monday in february since 1971, when congress passed the uniform monday holiday bill, which moved a number of federal holidays to monday. so there will be no regular mail delivery. in observance of the federal holiday, banks and stock exchanges will be closed, as well as most schools and courthouses. >> and the weather looks pretty good for tomorrow. i mean, actually next week the whole week looks pretty good compared to the heavy rains that we've seen at times this winter. we are going to see a chance of a sprinkle on wednesday, a shower or sprinkle, but mainly in the north bay. san jose will see nothing and then we warm up. these are the highs from today. we have low 60s today. by the time we get to thursday friday of this week, mid 60s maybe upper 60, it's going to feel a little bit like spring and we're dry for a while. nothing there. yeah i think it's cloudy. i

think that's our life. yeah. you can just see a light kind of shining through if you get a good a good tv. there it goes. interesting how the lights kind of come shining through. a lot of fog and low clouds. low clouds out there. the story tomorrow will be less cloud cover, more sunshine than we had today. and then we're model go,s wednesday. see? see where? we're not calling much here. it's just a little tweak. just a little something goes by. maybe a snow flurries in the mountains, but no, just a nonstarter. and then we're dry right through certainly through sunday. and beyond that i think we're going to be dry through the early part of march at this point that can all change. but i mean, dry in from the significant events that we've seen. i mean, the last weather system we had, right. that was a good weather system and just came in a bunch of rain. la got a ton of rain, got a ton of snow in the mountains. and then it moved on and we got away with it. and we've had a few systems this y very, very big. nothing like this wednesday system. this was this is going to be really, really a low key deal. a few

scattered showers. here it is. but its trajectory is going further north. it'll be a good rain producer in the pacific northwest. but for us, we're going to be just on the south end of all the dynamics. and then we did have a few light sprinkles. we talked about that this morning in parts of the north bay, some scattered sprinkles and a little drizzle out in the east bay earlier this evening. here's the model for tomorrow morning. it looks like a little bit of fog. and then tomorrow afternoon. so your day off tomorrow looks awesome. mid low 60s not mid 60s low 60s. and then here's tuesday morning. looks good to me tuesday afternoon looks great. and then here's where things change around. clouds increase on wednesday morning. and this is that opportunity right. and you can see it's like whatever right. no big deal. except it'll be cloudy and they'll probably be a fair amount of precipitation in the form of kind of a heavy mist or drizzle. so we'll see as we get closer to that. so wednesday is the day. if you're painting a house you're throwing concrete in, you know, if you're doing any kind of thing that's weather dependent outdoors, wednesday may not be your best day, but it

won't wash you out. if you're framing a house, you'll be fine. here's the five day forecast, and you can see that it's a chance of showers on wednesday. but overall, pretty nice. look what the temperatures do as we get towards the end of the week and the weekend. maybe upper 60s, you guys. >> very nice. all right bill, thank you. a 16 year old boy who fell 30ft down a mine shaft in placer county was rescued by cal fire, and it was all caught on video. >> rescuer ready? rescue is ready. rescuers ready. rescue ready. ready. >> cal fire is sharing this video out there on social media. officials say the teenager was with his friends exploring the horizontal mine shaft on monday. the teens tried to vertical section using ropes, but the rope snapped, causing the boy to fall 30ft. firefighters responded and used a complex system and air monitoring to reach him. the boy was taken to the hospital for an evaluation. >> the california highway patrol is aiming to bring more women into its ranks this weekend. the chp academy in west sacramento held a recruiting event, and

more than 100 women signed up for that event, but only a quarter of them did show up, the agency says. currently, only 6% of its force is our women. one interested applicant says she's ready to break barriers and show the world that women are more than ready to step up. >> i have an 11 year old daughter that i want to show that no matter what obstacles come or what type of profession, it seems like a woman shouldn't be in, it is definitely possible. >> to join the academy. you have to be between the ages of 21 and 35 years old and be able to pass the physical agility test. starting pay is more than $120,000 a year for new officers. officers also get to retire at 50 with full medical >> all right. coming up in sports, there is some controversy with the nba's new all star gameore'll have the story 11:00 news, all this wet weather we've seen this month making a boost to bay area reservoirs. coming up, a look at wh e t y
