things, and this is one of the big ones. >> thousands of people flock into san francisco for the final night of the nba all star weekend. good evening everyone. once again, i'm mike mibach. and what a week it has been in san francisco. the party still going on. for those enjoying nba all-star game festivities. from the games to the concert, as ktvuac reports tonight, the city by the bay pulled it off. >> it's back on the floor. >> rising stars teaming up with the nba's best at chase center will top musical acts took over a pier 48 for all star weekend, part of a jam packed few days in san francisco. saturday, the annual chinese new year parade, winding its way through the city. back in mission bay sunday, fans gearing up for the big game. >> yeah, pretty excited for it. >> grabbing a bite ahead of the action at park labs food truck garden. >> we love the hokey pokey is good here. >> we've got the. >> chicken tenders and some curly fries for the little ones,

opportunity. >> bathing in 100,000. how about that? his name is jaron barajas, the 18 year old college student from oakley beat nba star damian lillard in that three-point shooting contest. to win $100,000, barajas had to hit just one shot from beyond the arc before lillard would hit three, and with the clock winding down, barajas touched one right off the glass. and in tonight on the 10:00 news, jaron told us he actually did not have tickets to the game until his dad surprised him just yesterday. >> i was like, oh, the game is going to be at chase center. this would be such a cool experience and thing to do. and then we're at my grandpa's 80th birthday party and he texted me them and surprised me so i couldn't keep a smile off my face. after that. >> jaron says he plans to save a lot of the money and use it to go to a four year college, and also to help out his parents. just a quick reminder here. you can keep track of all of our nba all star coverage over the weekend by downloading the fox local app to your phone and

smart tv. tonight, we are learning new information about a fight in downtown san jose early this morning. officers say they were attacked after trying to step in to break up the fight, and tonight more arrests have been made. ktvu lamonica peters has the story. >> happy valentine's. >> san pedro square in san jose was bustling on sunday as people continued to celebrate valentine's day and nba all-star weekend festivities.■r but early sunday morning around 1230 on nearby east santa clara street, san jose, police say officers were attacked as they tried to break up a fight involving multiple people. >> most of the time that stuff is more personal. >> it's not random attacks and stuff like problems with each other, but that's about it. >> police say as they approached the brawl, suspects tried to leave the scene. when they attempted to make an arrest, police say they were attacked by other suspects. officers say they called for backup after another fight broke out and then made multiple arrests.

>> i would say it's nothing too crazy, nothing too special. i mean, i guess the police getting involved made it a big deal. but a lot of stuff happens down here all the time. >> san jose police say officers involved in the fight suffered minor injuries. douglas kucher is vice president of operations at sushi confidential in san pedro square. he says downtown businesses work together and provide security to keep their customers as safe as possible. >> really, just providing that kind of sense of security. pardon the pun, to people who are coming in. do they say, oh, that that business has stepped up their security and we know we feel safer inside. >> no other injuries have been reported by police, and things seem to be back to normal in downtown san jose. lamonica peters ktvu, fox two news. >> police in san jose have entied the victim in the deadly valentine's day stabbing at santana row as a 15 year old boy. officers say th teenager was stabbed durg a fight

friday night, 715. he was transported tthe hospital where he died the next day. police have not said if they have made any arrests in the case. the boy's death is the city's third homicide of the year. anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to contact san jose police. it was a very busy night overnight as sideshows ok and highways across the bay area. this was the scene in oakland at maritime and grand, right near the port of oakland. multiple people could be seen hanging out of the car windows underneath 880. a helicopter can also be seen in the video overhead, with spectators shining lasers at the chopper, which is a felony in richmond. a large crowd gathered at the intersection of carlson and 55th just after midnight. police■■ officers were on scene and the sideshow was broken up quickly. and in daly city, a similar scene at mission and kepler streets. crowd gatherings shut down the intersection. multiple people could be seen with those lasers. police officers from colma, san francisco and daly city could be seen finally breaking up the

show at 2:00 in the morning. and on the bay bridge, this was the traffic at a standstill just before 230 this morning east of treasure island, yerba buena island. officers and pedestrians could be seen walking on the roadway before the sideshow was finally cleared out. the chp says 80 to 100 vehicles were stopped in. the crowds were dispersed. officers say the driver of a lexus left the vehicle, tried to run and was later arrested and charged with dui. new at 11 oakland firefighters were called to a vehicle fire off 880 this afternoon. a large plume of black smoke could be seen here off the interstate for a couple hours. it started on east eighth street near the laney college parking lot just after noon. several engines responded quickly put out the fire. the cause of that fire is not yet known. governor newsom appointed an alameda county judge to serve across the bay on the peninsula. mark mckinnon has been appointed as judge in san mateo county superior court. it was a judge in alameda county superior court since 2013. known for having a

rejected plea deal negotiated by former alameda county district attorney pamela price in a triple murder case. price was recalled by voters in november amid allegations she was soft on crime. president tru to deport thousands of undocumented immigrants has sparked protests across the country, and a new group rights over borders took to the streets today, marching more than 20 miles to bring attention to immigration reform. the protesters gathered at san mateo city hall before marching along el camino real all the way to daly city. the group says it formed after watching the media coverage of the deportation operations. san mateo resident vivian andrea valdez put a call out for action with loud calls for the u.s. government to update the immigration registry. >> my entire community is made up of a ton of immigrants and a ton of family members that have sacrificed so much to be here and, you know, to follow the american dream. so we're so proud today to be their voice, because i know a lot of people that are afraid. my mom and my

dad. >> the immigration registry last updated during former president ronald reagan's time in office, allows undocumented immigrants 1972, to be deemed. before eligible for a green card. hopes to see that cutoff date adjusted in san francisco. a ceremony commemorating the japanese american day of remembrance, marking 8 years since fdr. executive orderrced relocation e americans to internment camps in 1942. this event at japantown kabuki theater was sold out. the order forced 120,000 japanese americans into those camps. in response to the pearl harbor attack during world war two. keynote speaker michael ishii drew parallels between the history of the order to today's political climate. >> what we're unfortunately seeing at this moment is the repetition of our history. the trump administration is using the forced removal and the mass incarceration of japanese americans as a blueprint for targeting immigrants, just the

vehicle crash inside the green river tunnel along interstate 80. in the state of wyoming, this story does begin. tonight's west coast rap. the wyoming department of transportation confirming the third death. this afternoon, crews have been working to clear the debris from the incident that occurred late friday morning. the state highway patrol has cleared about half of the 26 vehicles involved. the department of transportation says it is now working to place barriers inside the tunnel as a temporary solution for traffic. what led to the crash remains under investigation. in the state of oregon, the department ofiá agriculture announced that two house cats died after contracting bird flu after eating the same brand of raw pet food, the department of ag says

the cats contracted the virus after eating a contaminated batch of olympia based wild coast raw free range chicken formula. due to the severity of the illness, the owners decided to humanely euthanized both cats. one woman in a different county says she's devastated after two of her own cats died due to the virus. >> i have a freezer full of food until monday. she just couldn't even walk into her litter box anymore. and by tuesday morning, i had my home euthanasia person watching me cry. hold her. >> for now, the oregon department of agriculture is advising that pet animals pet owners do not feed animals undercooked or raw meat, and raw milk. a flying fairy could soon become a reality for some commuters in washington. the seattle times reporting artemis technologies is partnering with delta marine to build passenger only boats with hydrofoils. those are underwater wings that

we check in with our chief meteorologist, bill martin, and a look at the forecast for the week. >> yeah, we'll get a little break from the storms we've seen this year. it's been a really active on off right. we've had some dry spells and some really wet spells. that last storm last week was pretty aggressive. the weather system this week not so. that's a wednesday. so tomorrow tuesday monday wednesday looks like maybe a few sprinkles. something like that. but not a big deal. just it'll just be a transitional day. you might have the windshield wipers on intermittent and then on thursday, friday, saturday, sunday temperatures warm up into the mid 60s, even upper 60s. these are the highs from today. highs tomorrow are going to end up about the same maybe upper 50s, low 60s, a little bit of fog out there, some clouds, some drizzle as we talked about, but just sort of a different kind of week as it's going to feel like spring. as we go into the latter part of this week, you'll see in the five day forecast, i mean, you know, it's going to you're going to hear the birds singing and the bees will come out and it'll just be a pretty darn nice

weekend with temperatures above the average into the mid 60s, upper 60s. not going to be hot, but it's just after, again, the amount of winter we've had in terms of rain and such and wind and what have you. it's going to be kind of a nice little break, especially the weekend. these are the forecast overnight lows. so what are we looking at. we're looking at wednesday right. wednesday is the day. so if you're painting a house or doing any kind of outdoor work it might hinder you, especially in the north bay, san jose on wednesday. you're not going to notice anything i would suspect of this is wednesday system here. it looks really awesome. but it's going to it's moving trajectory. see the low kind of going that way. so it's got a north trajectory to it or somewhat of a northwest or north westerly trajectory. and that'll take its main energy north of here. so we'll get a few sprinkles. so this is what the model does. here's tomorrow morning. your monday. perfect. here's tuesday looks good so far da is in advance of this is wednesday. and that's what i'm talking about. so it's really i hate to say nonevent,

but it's a nonevent. although if you're traveling in the mountains, there might be a few scattered snow showers and you might have to chain up a little knot chain up. but you may have some slow going on the highways in the afternoon and evening up in lake tahoe. here are the forecast highs for tomorrow. a little cooler than today and in the five day forecast. so it's a nice little break mikey. you know after yeah it's been pretty. last week was pretty pretty aggressive. >> yeah the week before that too right. >> i know so we're going to we're going to go dry. looks like we may not see rain until march. early march. >> sounds good. thanks, bill. a woman was rescued in a man tonight still missing after they fell into san francisco bay. it happened just before 1030 last night, right near pier 32, just south of the bay bridge. firefighters managed to pull the woman from the water. she was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. firefighters and the coast guard continue to search for the man using boats, thermal imaging and drones. that search was officially suspended at noontime today. there is no word yet how the two ended up in the waterale stories trending@ktvu.com this week. one of our top stories the

chinatown, lunar new year festival and parade. organizers say it was challenging putting on the parade due to city budget cuts, but hyundai stepped in as a title sponsor to cover all the costs. >> i'm excited. we're all excited. >> stewart chen of the oakland economic improvement council says the event and route has grown since 2023. >> this year we're going to have car shows, we're going to have festivities, we're going to have vendors, we're going to have stage performance. and it's a lot longer route. >> more than 40 organizations are taking part, with roughly 600 people set to walk in the parade on saturday, is packed wh live performances including lion dancers, drummers and more. >> we have about 20 different vendors and it's going to be diverse group of vendors. so not only chinese food, there's going to be all types, all types of food for everybody to enjoy. >> alice street bakery and cafe is one of the many businesses hoping for an economic boost. >> lots of new people come getting into oakland and see

grocery people actually come to oakland chinatown. we're a hub from people all over the bay oaa living, breathing community. >> this is the third annual parade after bringing it back. it's grown over the years. this time, they expect anywhere between 10 to 15,000 people. reporting in oakland chinatown cristina rendon, ktvu, fox two news. >> the san francisco recreation and parks department unveiled a new basketball court mural this weekend at a playground in potrero hill. let's take a look at the new burst of blue installed at jackson playground. it is a temporary mural that will be up until 2027, when construction is scheduled to start in a full scale park. renovation artist victor solomon says the mural is inspired by the colors of san francisco bay. the courtside foundation made a $50,000 donation to pay for the mural. foot locker hosted an immersive experience for basketball fans during all-star weekend.
