their alleged inaction that fateful day, they hold on to each other even tighter. >> you have to have people in your life to talk about the things that you're going through. >> and they also use their bond and strength to help others. when tragedies happen around the country, like the fire that devastated maui or the recent plane crash in washington, d.c, their first thought is to be available for anyone who suffers a sudden loss, even if it's just someone to talk with who will understand. >> jackie always, always made sure that she helped others that were in need, and i think that's just what i'm trying to do, is just live like jackie would want me to. >> it's about empathy and kindness and understanding that it doesn't go away. >> and using their daughter's memories to help others in need is what keeps them focused. the mata family have started a

1:45 pm
nothing of the couple they now believe carried out the attack. but when they arrived, investigators found lindsay's boyfriend, jason zillo, and one of his friends. >> we locked down that house immediately. mr. zillo and his friend were both taken into police custody. >> turns out jason called police. later, he gives investigators a breakdown of his whereabouts that day. >> we're quite confident that at 541 is when the attack took place. >> jason tells police he drives up to the house just four minutes later, and he may have seen the killers. >> the killers were actually about to walk out the front door and leave, and he turned into the cul de sac and interrupt them, leaving. >> they were that brazen that they were going to. if he. >> had been, if he had been five seconds later, he would have driven right into the suspects, walking out here into the driveway. >> instead, he tells police, the couple turned around and closed the door. >> he then parks outside because he is waiting for the showing to end. >> approximately 20 minutes later, jason texts, lindsay, are you okay? no answer.
