traffic is picking up on i-70 as tracy said it would. we have a full traffic break down in a moment. we're waiting to hear who the man is involved in a barricaded situation in englewood. the man is wanted for several felonies. the man ran inside and refused to come in. residents would give permission to search the home. they found the man hiding inside the basement. this suspect was handcuffed and brought into custody. he could face charges on top of the felonies he was wanted for. skies won't be clear over the weekend, but visibility isism proving from last night. there was a haze over denver affecting air quality and we have milder weather to thank for that. they expect the air quality to be moderate today. a good check of the forecast.

it happened on the interchange on i-25 and i-225 early yesterday morning. a sedan crossed the double yellow line on the ramp and one person was thrown out of the vehicle and one suffered life- threatening injuries. anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the denver police department. they're asking for your help to find a person behind a dozen burglaries. they believe this man that they're looking for may have burglarized a handful of businesses along northampton. denver police think that same suspect burglarized inga's alpine lounge, stealing hundreds of dollars worth of alcohol. it's unnerving to think that the suspect may have been a customer. >> it feels creep year knowing he's been up and down the block and he could have been in here drinking and socializing and casing the place. >> contact crime stoppers if

the burglaries or that suspect. new overnight a man was shot at a party in el paso county and deputies are trying to find the person who pulled the trig. the shooting happened in colorado springs, they found witnesses and the man who had been shot and he's expected to survive. an intense situation forced officers to it. ase this man. the man brandon morgan started setting the house on fire. when officers arrived they found morgan with a blowtorch in one hand and a machete in the other. he they were concerned about his safety and theirs, and that's when officers decided to use that taser. >> there was a fire in the house, i got a taser. >> we need more people in here. control, man. >> you're not only dealing with perfect. >> it was a troubling

out of the home and faces multiple charges including aggravated assault. dozens were forced to evacuate to go to higher ground. the mississippi river topped a levy, several towns are under water and this damage could get worse. experts think the weather will rise another foot before cresting tomorrow. the emergency evacuation was issued for all the residents in that county. in missouri the flooding that hit st. louis is over, the water is starting to recede and two major highways are open again. they're looking at the damage left behind. st. louis has been in a state of emergency for nearly a week now, because of all the intense flooding. the storms that rolled through missouri and illinois killed 22 people. hawaii is taking the lead when it comes to who is allowed to smoke cigarettes. residents have to be 21 years

today and tomorrow will be in the mid- to upper 40s, that's actually above where we're supposed to be this time of the year. as far as the air quality goes, i know this is a bit of concern for many of you, for that sensitive group, today can still be a problem you might want to limit your out door exposure, the air quality is moderate, it's acceptable for most people. even visibility will be moderate as well. that's why as we're starting off the day, we have a little bit of orange glow over the metro area and a large part of the reason why we had that poor air quality was because of the cold temperatures, we got stuck in the 20s for the past several days and yesterday we got above the freezing mark at 35 degrees and today we'll do temperatures in the mid-40s. here's where we're at right now, 18 in the metro area, it's

degrees, we got way below freezing temperatures, in gunnison below and it's 3 degrees and steamboat springs 12 below. if you're headed to the mountains to do skiing and snowboarding, it's going to be nice. we're looking at blue bird conditions. you'll need hands and feet warmers if you're going object on top of the summit. it will be warmer in the lower elevation the, 36 in the metro area. in northern colorado it will stay chilly in the 30s and the 20s. december was a good year for steamboat springs. check out the ski patrol who is cleaning the snow off the roof. lots of snowfall there, big snow amounts for several resorts, 133 inches so far and

we won't tag any more on to those amounts. we'll have a dry forecast across the state. that translates into good traveling weather i think. a few clouds near the valley and the west itself, it will be sunny in the metro area. this afternoon that weather remains drive, overnight there's areas of patchy fog and a possibility in the weld county. and much of i-25 will be waking up to the blue skies and sunshine. 18 will be your overnight low, the lows across the state we'll drop to below 0 temperatures, below that in the high country. and in the valley it will drop into the single digits and temperatures in the teens overnight. we'll do a high of 48 degrees and we'll have great weather for kick off weather, broncos kick off the chargers. we'll keep those 40-degree temperatures into monday tuesday and wednesday and on

have to worry about snow on the front range today. i want to take a look at the high country. a cold forecast for breckenridge, and i'll let i know if you could see any snow this weekend if spending time in the high travel. the travel in the high country that's where you'll spend time. we were seeing slowdowns, i travel radio. we have a couple of minor accidents that will castro downs, one around floyd hill and idaho springs. check out that traffic as it picks up. the high volumes of traffic are continuing to get out on the roadways. so, now, our drive time has bumped up about 20, 25 minutes now taking over an hour to get from 6th avenue to 206, right as you approach those tunnels and the map is looking more colorful, starting to see those quell lows and reds, keep in mind a couple of minor accidents, those slowdowns will

patrick feely here to talk about addictions and resolutions this morning. what we're saying is sometimes your resolutions or desire to beat something is actually an addiction such as obesity can be a problem, overeating or alcholism, or i want to stop drinking so much. you may be an alcoholic if you're saying that pretty often, is that what we're saying? >> for sure. i think a lot of people celebrate over the holiday season and new year's, they to the a lot of family involved, that may be watching them to see how they're doing. it's common that we'll identify alcholism or real health problems during this window of time, and so, what we really recommend for people is to do some basic screening, to kind of ask some of the early questions to see if they might actual treatment. some of the questions we will ask people, do they need to

on their drinking and do they feel annoyed about people asking about their drinking or do they feel they need to drink, when you wake up in the morning do you need a drink to steady your nerves or feel better. >> when you ask people those questions, are there any identifiers to tell you that they may be addicted. >> if they have two of those answers as positive, it warrants more questioning. >> you have someone like me at the hospital to ask them more detailed questions. there's a line in the sand of what we call a vice or someone who drinks heavy or what we call alcholism. we try to help people understand where that line exists, it involves consequences or they're not having control. >> you need to draw a line in the sand so to speak. >> people have made

it's adding to the slowdowns it's adding to the slowdowns we're seeing. the high volume of traffic, a lot more people are getting out there on the roadways, so some slowdowns at drive time increasing, we're up to 82 minutes. so, you're adding another 30, 40 minutes on to that normal drive, and average speeds have cut in half. an average speed of 30 miles per hour as you head from 6th avenue out to us6, we have more reds on the map there, that's where the traffic is slowing down. a couple of areas around floyd hill, that traffic is moving at 8 miles per hour. it's very slow going there. we clear up a little bit through idaho springs, it will miles per hour. it's not just westbound, it's tomorrow. it's all of the holiday travellers are making it back to the city. when you head eastbound plan an extra hour or two hours today. tomorrow it will be anywhere from 1 to 3 hours and could be
