the cause of an early-morning fire that destroyed a business complex is under investigation this afternoon. one person was hurt when flames engulfed the building off 64th and wadsworth, a firefighter was transportd to the hospital-- transported to the hospital. it took hours to put out and smoke could be seen for miles. jessica oh was there and smoke broke out. >> look at that smoke. holy cow. >> big flames drew big crowds. >> my goodness. >> this is one of the biggest fires arvada has seen reeseenly. >> so scary. >> if you think it looks bad on the outside-- >> it was blasting, you couldn't see or breathe. >> janice john was in the building when her work creative

employee is still unaccounted for, no one has been able to contact him this afternoon. the person who was hurt has not been identified and firefighters did not know the extent of the injuries. the red cross is helping a family of 5 displaced because of a kitchen fire, nobody was hurt and crews kept it containd to quincy. we started the weekend off sunny and, maybe on the warm side, depending who you ask. this after a stretch of bitterly cold weather but milder conditions, danielle is joining us. great. >> gorious, you guys. so much sunshine and takes in the 40s. we haven't been there the past 2 delightful. an improvement from yesterday, yesterday was the first time we hit the freezing mark, went a couple degrees above since

today, even warmer than that. a good 5-10 degrees warmer for eastern colorado and mountain valleys. finally recovering and beginning to warm up a hair. right now 32 at dia, 30s stretch across eastern plains, 40 degrees lamar, gunnison at 4 below and 8 degrees in steamboat springs. warmer weather is to come. you can see outside, just a few high level clouds in the metro area. some of you might have spotd the brown cloud earlier, air quality moderate and visibility. that will continue until 4:00 thchlt winds haven't been-- the winds haven't been helping us. we have a storm system moving the into california, nevada, we are sandwiched in between waiting for someone to scour out the pollutants sitting in the city. on radar and satellite, the system pushing into the west is starting to bring a little cloud cover out across the western slope but it has been beautiful. overnight into tomorrow, what you see is what you dpet and

10th avenue, a few blocks south of the art museum. the investigation is on going. arapahoe county investigators need help identifying a person in interest in connection with a suspicious fire. a car caught fire yesterday afternoon near south trenton way. they say this man is a person of interest. nenetime, they aren't-- meantime they aren't sure if another car fire is related. starting today, it will cost a little more to ride rtd, a fair structure took effect today, most went up 15%, one-way pass up 35 cents, costing $2.50. it is the first time in 5 years a change has been made, rtd approved it in may as a way to prevent service cuts, we have more information on this online at 9news.com.

the whole world was outside, wasn't it gorgeous? cabin fever, i don't know about you but the deep freeze nice to get outside and soak in the sunshine you can truly feel. over looking the bolder area, beautiful as we have the nice blue skies, frost, couple high level clouds from the system in california and overlooking downtown denver, much of the same. temperatures made their way to low 40s around here, little cooler in northern colorado, 47 in burlington, the heat wave in lamar and pueblo, the springs, 50s with teens in eagle and hoping to get a bump up, warming above the zero mark. right now outside the airport, readings right there at the freezing mark, winds out of the south only 7 miles an hour, you can see a few clouds out there, but it is making it feel just a hair cooler. high pressure still entrenched across the area, another one back across the northwest, that will be shifting in, helping to

the storms basically into california. there are going to be a series of storms moving in and eventually, we will get some of them to pop into colorado. it will take a few days, we have a nice set up. right now hd doppler 9, you can see this stream of tropical moisture pushing into parts of texas, the gulf coast, and even toward florida, and all eyes out to the west where little snowful in the sierra, waiting for more rain along the coastline with snow building into nevada and idaho. at home, it has been a quiet day. loads of sunshine out there, great conditions up to the high country, nice to not have to deal with the wet, slick, snow-packed and icy roads for a change and i think that will be the trend as we head toward tomorrow. futurecast indicating 7:00 tomorrow morning, dry as a bone. across the entire state. we will be looking at some clouds shifting in around the west, especially the western slope by tomorrow afternoon and 4:00-5:00 in the denver, partly cloudy skies and the all-important broncos game going

in pennsylvania the search for a boy with autism has come to a tragic conclusion, 5-year-old batista was found 5 miles from where he was new year's eve. he was not sensitive to heat or cold. the autopsy will help determine when he entered the canal. days of widespread flooding, there is still considerable damage as the concern shifts further downstream. the mississippi river pushing down stream 10 times the speed of niagara falls, it is expected to reach memphis next week. 500 nautical miles of river, they are looking for anyone that may be in trouble.
