bomb test... and this morning...a growing number of countries are condemning that test even the north's main ally - china... is joining the u-s, britain, japan, and several other countries in against the test. actually reported an 5-point-one earthquake... right where that bomb test site is in the nrotheastern part of the country. shortly after the tremor... north korea boldy announced it successfully tested the hydrogen bomb. the u-n security council is planning an emergency meeting today. last week, north korean leader kim jong un said in his annual new year's speech his country is ready for war. if the hydrogen bomb is confirmed,

korea a big step closer toward improving its still- limited nuclear arsenal. the south korean spy agency reportedly told a lawmaker there that north korea may have tested an atom bomb, not a hydrogen bomb. we looked up the difference between the two. while both are deadly and destructive... a hydrogen bomb produces a more powerful blast than atomic weapons. you'll remember- atomic bombs are the explosives the u-s dropped on hiroshima and nagasaki during world war two. in december, north korea's leader kim jong un claimed north korea had a hydrogen bomb... but the u-s said there was no solid evidence of such a device. both the a-bomb and h-bomb can destroy everything within a several mile radius. it could take days to verify north korea's claim. news of north korea's h-bomb claim could impact the stock market today. u-s stock futures are lower check dow futures than 200-points. about china's

helping either... bottom line, there are some scary geopolitics going on right now, which is leading to market unrest. european markets are all down about 1-percent in early trading. asian markets ended the session slightly lower -- except in china where the shanghai ended up 2- percent. new overnight... denver police chased a truck through parts of the city. d-p-d tells us it started when a person called 9-1- 1... to report that they were being followed by the truck. shortly after that, someone inside the caller. hurt. police found the suspect truck and it ended at 34th and quivas in the highlands... when forced the truck 3 suspects were taken into custody. police say they're out why the people following the girls accused of plotting to attack school is going to adult. that's one of many details on this case

an air force academy cadet accused of sexually assaulting a female cadet at the school faces a military hearing today. according to the colorado springs gazette-- cadet 3rd class jackson spalding is accused of groping the fellow cadet last march. an article 32 hearing is the military's version of a grand jury... and will determine if there's enough evidence for a court martial. the arapahoe county sheriff's office needs help solving two arson cases. both happened on new year's day. a delivery truck was set on fire just east iliff avenue and evans avenue. and a couple of hours later, a dump trailer was set on fire ... near east iliff avenue and south trenton way. the suspect. he's believed to be between 40 and 50 if you know crime stoppers at 720-913-stop. you could be eligible for an award... and you

repair crews have mopped up the mess on northbound colorado boulevard - and fixed the failing pipe that caused it. so - the road re- opened early this morning. the road was shut down at louisiana avenue yesterday afternoon... while crews repaired an 8-inch water main break. it caused quite the headache for drivers last night. an iconic steakhouse in the south part of town has closed. brook's steakhouse in greenwood village closed at the start of the new year. the owner tells our partners at the business journal that the restaurant has been struggling for years due to increased competition in the tech center. brook's steakhouse opened in 1996 -- the site could become the home of a large new hotel. this news was the 2nd most read story on 9news- dot-com yesterday. twitter may be ready to abandon its decade-old limiit on the length of tweets. reports say it may expand posts from 140 characters to as many as 10- thousand.

one baby, little olivia did not make it. her sister savannah did. in november - mccullough filed a complaint with the state - claiming the hospital was resistant to helping her daughter in a dangerous situation. not long after, her visitation times were limited. this past weekend they were taken away all together. 9-news legal analyst scott robinson says that was an eye-opening move. mccullough's attorney says the hospital created a behavioral agreement... after hospital staff claimed she was disruptive. the hospital stated if a parent is disruptive and that jeopardizes the care of their child or another - they will take action. mccullough's vistation for 4- hours-a-day was reinstated yesterday. she plans to move baby savannah to

the friend who bought the assault rifles used in the san bernardino attack could spend 50 years in prison for doing it. enrique marquez junior is expected to be in court today for gun, immigration and terrorism-related charges. prosecutors say marquez bought the guns that syed farook and tashfeen malik used in last month's terror attack 14 people were killed and 22 others injured. as investigators still work to figure out a timeline of the shooting... now we are getting the chance to hear from some of the deputies involved in the shootout that eventually killed the terrorists. reached out to the public for help. they want to figure out what the shooters did between the time of the initial attack and when they shootout. know right now what they did or who they might have talked to in
