meteorologist kathy sabine joins us from the weather center. what time should be see the next round? >> it is interesting, a lull in the action in denver but look at fort collins, i pulled up our live on fort collins and the snow settled into weld county, we are in between snow bans and we expect the second wave to move into denver 9:00 or 10:00 tonight and will continue overnight, the california low bringing flooding rain to the western half of the state and across much of california, dealing with flooding and mudslides and really just some significant debris flow. this moisture is going to interact with a cold front to the north and bring all snow to the front range and that is when we see the snow accumulate for the morning driver tomorrow. by mid-day tomorrow. national weather service but denver under a winter weather advisory until 2:00 tomorrow. we see snow to the west and to the north, we get a lull in the action and by 9:00, snow picks up and the time you wake up and head out the door 6:00 a.m.,

accomplices in the scream mask bank robbery may be in jail but the fbi believes other friends are helping him stay hidden. >> the friends will abandon him. he will run out of cash and his luck will run out and we will be there, law enforce. to put cuffs on him. >> special ijant involved, robert evans believes the cash mason is living on is from 2 lakewood bank robberies in september and november. mason made his way to the infamous most wanted list for the violence during the november 18 robbery, car jacking, and shooting. >> far beyond what we normally see from our most hard bank robberies. >> customers were threatened with guns as the men raided the vault. during the get away, the trio allegedly car jacked and shot 2 people. >> it was senseless, it was brutal, it made no sense to shoot these people after they cooperateed and given their keys and wanted to be out of the situation. the gentleman was shot 4 times in the back.

but the last attacker is still out there. the fbi is hopeful someone will turn him in soon. >> not only is there the up to $100,000 reward but you are doing your community a service and potentially saving lives. >> mason faces up to life in prison from first degree murder, aggravated robbery and secondary kidnapping. >> unusual for somebody to stay on the list that long. the last from colorado on the 10 most wanted list wasn't out there 6 weeks. >> mason is the 10th person from the colorado area who has been on the fbi's most-wanted list. >> victoria sanchez reporting. the man accused of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl is in police custody. deputies in alabama arrested thomas feckler this morning, they found him, his car, and the teen in coffeeville, alabama. police learned he was likely headd to mobile when they found him. he was wanted for sex assault on a child, second degree kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

did go with him willingly which is why they did not issue an ambert alert. arapahoe county coroner identified 2 people killed yesterday, now calling a murder suicide. littleton police found a man and woman dead inside a home on grant street near littleton high school. 45-year-old david fallon shot 37-year-old kristen benton in the head and then shot himself. police said they were in a long-term relationship and they do not know the motive. east high school student facing charges for a weapon scare at the school might not spend time in prison if convicted. prosecutors modified the charges against him, aggravated attempted robbery became had new charge against him, accused of holding a bb gun demanding money from a student in the parking lot near city park. it sparked a police response in december, this amended charge no longer claims he used a deadly weapon but something that appeared to be a deadly weapon. that means he won't necessarily face jail time. still facing charges for

the attorney says the incident was a joke gone wrong. they are not allowed on plains at denver international, stores don't sell them and hoverboards are banned from the dorms at cu boulder, the university joined the list that areas. students can use them on campus sidewalks, however, if a student on a hoverboard hit as pedestrian they can be sited for inattentive driving. the safety commission is investigating the devices after reports they catch on fire without warning. smaller cities in colorado are taking the lead in the construction of a new highway interchange that is supposed to reduce the time drivers wait to turn left, the newly opened bridge over 36 is the first diverging diamond interchange, it provides direct assess to a ramp to not have to wait for a turn signal or cross on coming

new study from the american cancer society says the cancer death rate has gone down sint the 90's, 1.7 fewer million american have died from cancer. breast cancer deathvise dropped 36% since peeking in 1989. the lives saved are a result of better cancer prevention, detection, treatment and people quitting smoking. yooquick quer after a stroke is critical and the university of colorado has one of only 3 mobile stroke units in the u.s. aurora fire medical emergency crews trained on the unit today. the emergency responders will be able to evaluate a patient, do a ct scan and communicate the equipment with a stroke specialist at the hospital. instead of an ambulance, it is like a mobile emergency unit for stroke care. early steps could allow responders to give a drug if needed on the scene or on the way to the hospital. coach kubiak did make it quarterback.

students at rock canyon high school in highlands ranch returned to school with more than homework as an assignment. they are working to make blankets for the homeless. nelson garcia found out why. >> we worked hard to get the fabric and we will donate them to homeless people. kind of get it as flat as you can on the table. wow, look at that.

>> she is a member of the crew, a program where upper classman interact with freshman throughout the year. >> we have almost 300 blankets. >> they are working on tie blankets to give to homeless counties. >> we want them to look nice but it is as long as they are getting done and donated, it is a all that matters. >> they are not doing it for a grades or hours of community service, they are doing it for another reason. >> just cuz. why not? i was born on a tuesday and thought lets write a grant. >> she applied and won. a $2500 grant from sam's club to buy all this fabric. >> joann's gave it to us 75% off. >> to make all these blankets during school. >> look how many there are. my class did great at working together. >> the teacher says this is a good lesson for kids in an

made it into the back yard, and gave way over the deep end. she said it took 20 firefighters from different agencies to pull it out of the icy water. a vet said she didn't break bones or get hypothermia and should be fine. you can hear the concern in her voice the whole time. >> she is trying her best to get out. the first round of snow brought only a dusting. >> kathy says it can do much better than that and more is on

it is trying really hard to snow in the 9 news back yard, but it is just misting here. i am kathy sabine outside the studios where i know some are experiencing this, fort collins, moderate snow coming down, we metro area. on top of the snow you already received, we anticipate another 2-5 inches of snow with a second system that is rolling over southern colorado already tonight. this will follow quickly through, it will pull in cold air from the north so the snow we expect overnight will stick on the ground, creating issues for the morning drive and temperatures tomorrow will be a lot colder. the trend, really, has been lovely for the start of the new year and new month but we are headed back into the deep freeze for the end of the week and

32 light no at the airport, weak arctic front colliding forces and combine forces with the system rolling out of california into southern sections of our state already. expected to deepen overnight, winds out of the northeast push the baninize to the urban corridor, national weather service issuing a winter weather advisory for denver for the additional 2-5 inches of snow overnight tonight through 2:00 p.m. tomorrow. you need to allow for extra time tomorrow. heaviest snow falls over southern and southeastern colorado with a winter storm warning area leading to a foot of snow. today's system off to the east, arctic front from the north is why the second system will bring more no that will stay. temperatures tomorrow a lot colder and even colder heading into the upcoming weekend but look our our neighbors to the north, could always be worse, right? tonight we watch as the snow picks up in denver 9 clack-10:00 during the overnight period complicating the drive, heavier

really kind of a tough go on a friday morning. head nothing to the weekend i have us dry but cold, temperatures in the mid 20s saturday, low 30s sunday. we bounced out, monday and tuesday mid 30s and close to 40 degrees. and really just a nice weather pattern shaping up until the end of next week but looking like stock-show weather around here and that is what it looked like in downtown denver today with the shock rr show parade. beautiful condition physical you don't mind a little rain and snow, and again remember the 9 news weather team only wears foe fur in the 9 news back yard. hi, everybody, this is not like the los angeles rams starting washed up joe namath at the end of his career, or the san diego chargers starting old man johnny uniits at the end of his, at least it better not be or the broncos are in serious trouble. just in time for the playoffs to begin, manning was named the broncos starting quarterback
