them out, nice. good morning. marty coniglio, you have a storm in your forecast. >> we do, for us, later this week, we'll see 4-9 inches of snow in the mountains combined thursday and friday. this morning, the big issue is extreme cold temperatures. again, calm, clear skies throughout the central valleys. we'll go between 20 and 30 below in some of the usual areas along the frazier river. locally, you've seen 8 below at the airport in greeley. you know what, go right up into town. it's about 15 degrees warmer than that in the single figures. they won't really be very strong from downtown to the east. so you're not going to get a lot of wind from most of the metro area. however, western suburbs from

we could see some gusty winds. miles per hour. whether you get windy or not, upper 40s here, near 50. so a dry tuesday. it gets even warmer. first, amelia gets you out the door. >> good morning. we're still nice and clear on your tuesday commute. mostly 50s and 60s out there across the area freeways. and no major closures on the side streets. check things out on the cdot camera near founders parkway. monument hill, the entire stretch of i-25 is very much in the clear toward colorado springs. that's the indicator of fog that marty has been telling us about. slightly low visibility on highway 93 and i-70. as for the rest of our commute, we're in the clear. great speeds across 56. 64 southbound 25 near 104th.

and if you're waking up and getting across c470, you're looking at a clear commute to i- 75. >> thanks a lot. hope it stays green there, amelia. breaking news, within the last five minutes, turkish prime minister said the attack that attacked the heart of the istanbul is a 28-year-old from syria. at least 28 have been killed. more than a dozen are hurt. it happened in a very popular tourist spot. most of the victims, we've learned, are foreigners. several emergency vehicles filled the square home to the historic blue mosque and museum. one witness described the explosion as so big, something you would only hear in the movies. 5:33 right now. president obama will deliver his final state of the union address this evening. he'll speak about fighting climate change, tightening gun control and immigration reform.

state of the union. tonight, two coloradans will be at the speech. rhonda rice leads her business. she'll be seated in the first lady's viewing box. a guest of diana nugget, he's the imam. this show will be broadcasting entirely from the white house. you will also have a chance to see more of the executive mansion than has ever been seen on tv before. that starts right heroon channel 9 at 7:00 tonight. >> our partners at usa today asked millennials what they want out of the next president. by a wide margin, the under 35 crowd wants two things affiliation. they want the u.s. to transfer to clean or renewable energy by the year of 2030.

invest more heavily in public transportation, bus and rail lines. when asked if there should be background checks for gun sales, 80 said yes. millennial views on police body cameras and accepting syrian refugees. a woman who went out skiing after hours was cold, hungry, rescued. ten people were sent to rescue her. after giving her some food and water, the rescuer and skier hiked out together. there was an ambulance there waiting for her so paramedics could make sure she was okay. it took about four hours. man's car. he was rushed to a hospital him.

yesterday near spear when officers walked up to the vehicle. the man inside got out with a gun. shots were fired. the suspect was then hurt. it's unclear if the suspect shot first or even fired at all. neither officer was injured. police say this highlights just house dangerous their job can be. >> an officer never knows what kind of encounter they're going to have when they approach the vehicle or enter any type of situation. obviously it could be very dangerous. >> the shooting is under investigation. we do not know the name of the man who was shot or the officers involved. >> a former colorado springs homicide detective has been given four years of probation as part of a plea deal. paul patton is accused of tampering with evidence in a kidnapping case and lying about having a sexual relationship with the alleged victim. he pled guilty to official misconduct in trying to influence a public servant.

we now know a tragedy in wisconsin has a colorado connection. one of four men who died in a cano accident on a lake last week was a university of colorado student. they're confirming 21-year-old patrick wetzel of illinois was killed. the daily reports that his body was pulled from the lake about 35 miles southwest of milwaukee. the bodies of three other young men were found earlier in the week. time to look at some money news. predictions for 2016 indicate it could be another great year for denver homeowners. according to clear capitals home data index, denver aurora area home prices are expected to rise about 7.7% this year. that will put us at the top of the national list. nationally, clear capital expects prices to appreciate somewhere between 1 and 3% in 2016. >> around here today, this is

west side of town already winds between 30 and 40 miles per hour. east side of town, dead calm. that's going to be the pattern we continue throughout the day. so, again, driving into the foothills, you're going the see some really gusty winds. that will help push temperatures into the 40s to almost 50 degrees warmer on the west side of town than on the east side of town. our next snow maker is off the west coast right now. now pushing into oregon and washington. by thursday and friday, we're going to see this storm move right into colorado's mountain. snow starts thursday. by the end of the day friday, about a 4-9-inch snow. thursday, only about 1-3 inches of snow for friday morning but then by saturday morning, you're looking at pretty decent snow around here. pretty good conga line going up to the mountains. i would expect that to happen this week. >> if only it was as fun as a conga line. >> so much.

a lot of bronco fans may be drinking the same thing come sunday. it's probably not what you think. broncos fans apparently love bud light and bacardi rum. that's according to a research firm neilsen that released its bar study. this tracks what nfl fans are talking about the most. so according to the denver business journal, neilsen looked into what drinks nfl fans like the most. 9 other teams, including denver, liked bud light. no love from denver fans for local breweries. blue moon is favored by four other teams, coors and coors light, favorites of three other teams, not bronco fans. >> that's interesting. well, you can't keep bama football down.

the west. 48 downtown. windy in the western suburbs and in the foothills. gusts in the foothills easily going over 50 miles per hour. stays windy tonight. that's going to help keep temperatures up a little bit in the 20s tomorrow. 50 plus. mid-40s again on thursday. then for us friday, a little bit of late day snow. after 3:00, you get light snow. less than an inch is what we see right now. we'll update as we get closer. again, amelia, everybody is talking about the weekend, and >> absolutely. that's what happens this time of year. as we go on out to our metro drive, we're starting things off with a minor crash around the downtown commute. sounds pretty minor for now. i would give yourself maybe just an extra very small couple of minutes there.
