move in, and with it, snow. mountain snow starts tomorrow morning. goes on and off throughout the day. the mountains. tomorrow, 1-4-inch range. we'll get additional snow coming up friday into saturday. we have light snow in our future as well. we'll talk about that in a few minutes. time to get out the door for you. amelia has the latest on what's going on in the streets. >> waking up on your wednesday drive, roads are dry. expect a lot of sun glares today. with the winds out west, we could see gusty conditions blowing snow on 93 and also a drive across i-70. we're nice and clear. excellent beginnings there as you push through the bridges. across our area side streets, we've been quiet with one exception. that's the fatal overnight crash right at the intersection of stock show drive and franklin. we'll have more details coming

in that immediate area, 54 is a good route. your corridor is still open as well. as you exit the roads, do expect to see flashing lights with the ongoing investigation. we've still got slowdowns across 25 in the area. we're dropping down to 23 miles per hour on the approach to i- 70 i-70. 10 navy sailors are free this morning. this comes after they were seized by the iranian government. their boat drifted into their waters. one of the boats developed mechanical problems, and both of them drifted off course. >> here in denver, who men -- after their car rolled over. someone passing the crash called police. they don't know how it happened.

we'll post it on the 9news app. it is 5:33 now. a couple in their 70s and some of their neighbors are recovering after they tried to save the couple's adult son. he has multiple sclerosis. he could not get out on his own. news reporter -- 9news reporter noel brennan is outside the house. firefighters and neighbors risked their lives to try to save this family. >> that's the story we're hearing. we're on west sanford avenue. you see the home behind me. restoration crews just finished boarding up this house. we have video from a neighbor, some cell phone video that shows what this house looked like when it was fully engulfed in flames. about 7:00 last night, that's when denver fire and west metro fire responded to this house fire. flames were shooting from the roof. we're told it started in the basement and worked its way up. the flames were incredibly powerful.

his 40s who had ms was bedridden was not able to get out of his house. his elderly parents were. again, neighbors rushed over to help. several of them, firefighters tried to get everyone inside out safely. when firefighters first got there, they say the flames were so incredibly intense that initially they had to back away. >> at one point the fire was so significant that the firefighters thought that they were going to have to back out for their own safety, but through the efforts of the fire department, we were able to find two of the victims who have been removed and transported to area hospitals. unfortunately, we found one deceased victim. >> i went to their backyard. the whole back, flames were going up the house. the first responders were already there. there were firemen in the backyard, they had ladders up, trying to get people out of the house.

the neighbors, and the elderly couple were taken to the hospital for their injuries. another firefighter was treated injuries. we still don't have the cause of the fire, investigators that. >> thank you, noel. it's just about 5:36 right now. news. for the first time since december '03, oil fell below 30 bucks a barrel. prices have rebounded this morning. it leads crude at 19% this year. 72% plunge from crude's june 2014 peak where it hit almost $108 a barrel. o'peck is in trouble. there's a massive supply glut right now. colorado oil and gas president dan haley says when a commodity

cuts are about top in the industry. we lost about 2,000 jobs in this sector last year. >> we're not seeing layoffs like we saw in colorado in the 1980s, but, again, we don't know where the bottom is. >> haley adds that oil field services has been the hardest hit in our state so far. couple years ago, there were about 77 rigs up and running. as of last friday, there were just 22. oil giant bp is going to cut some 4,000 positions worldwide, specifically in exploration. company leaders say they need to make the move because of the toughening conditions out there. it's been a drop in gasoline prices. that's making a lot of drivers happy. drivers have seen a huge drop in what we pay at the pump. the current average is $1.85. average. colorado's average is trending
