taxpayer bill of rights, even though that means tax cuts along the way. both parties are talking about the need for more infrastructure and building new highway lanes. they just have a different way to get there. they were keyed up before the session began. democrats had a plan to cut $100 hospital. -- $100 million hospital feel -- fee that would take pressure off the taxpayer bill of rights. it is more like that's the republican say that it is more like avoiding the taxpayer bill of rights.>> tabor clearly says that we can take the refunds, but we have to ask. there is nothing in the bill asking the people of colorado if we can keep their refunds. >> i think we need to work hard to find a compromise if we can. because it is so vitally important to our ability to make investments in the future

we are looking at gusty wind mountains. 30 miles per hour. they have been coming down in the metro area and they have been helping to warm the we have been looking at high temperatures in the 40s and 50s and it has been fantastic up- and-down the i-25 corridor. it is different if you are in the mountains where they are struggling to make it out of the teens and 20s. in cheesman park there are still blue skies in downtown denver. i will take you through the rest of this evening. the roads will be dry with no problems. you are only having to deal with all of these folks trying to get here to the king soopers in aurora. as we fast-forward, the dinner hour looks good. a few clouds around the city and then along the i-76 corridor later tonight. as far as this evening, temperatures will be in the 40s around 5:00- 6:00 with clear skies.

about the 2016 olympics. we're hanging out with the women of the u.s. soccer team. they are the world cup champions and right now they are here in la at the home of the la galaxy preparing for the 2016 olympics. this town is also doing their own prepping for their own olympic race. the bidding process for the 2024 olympics. they have track record here with the olympics. something you can see the la coliseum where they hosted the 1932 and 1984 olympics. a site that may be 93 years old, but it's ready for another go in just eight years of they win the bid.>> we hope that happens. we would be 101 years old. right now we are the only facility to have posted to olympics. to host three on the 101st year, that is something special.>> reporter: by the

now moving back to los angeles, they will play home games for a couple of years until their new billion-dollar stadium is built. as far as the olympics go, la will have a lot of competition to be -- to win the bid. they are up against paris and rome who are considered the front runners in the 2024 bid. the u.s. soccer team will have a lot of competition from brazil, china and japan. we will be talking a lot about that along with other things with the women on the soccer team and the next day and a half or so. >> we know that the galleries for soccer are just huge. >> reporter: yes, it is a big draw and a big audience worldwide. there are growing numbers in the united states. when you talk about the popularity in this country, the women of the u.s. soccer team are behind a lot of that. they do magical things and we have seen that in the past couple of years.>> young athletes everywhere want to be them, which is good. >> go usa.

biden is working on a plan for a cure to cancer.

icicles had to be knocked off a power line in pennsylvania due to a water main break. water was shooting 30 feet into the air and it was so cold that the water was instantly freezing on power lines, trees and even a nearby building. crews were able to shut the water main off about an hour after it happened. but, the damage was done. police in flint, michigan are warning residents about scams as the city faces a water shortage. the city switch the water supply to save money back in 2014. a state of emergency has been declared. high levels of lead have been detected in the blood of a lot of kids.

[ applause ] . so tonight, i am announcing a new national effort to get it done. so, vice president biden is the man for the job. in the state of the union address, present obama said he wants america to find a cure for cancer. where would vice president biden start, or anybody start? the washington post reports that one idea would be to create a national database of all cancer pete -- cancer patients and their treatment.

he also wants to create silos for people to share information. he will have several meetings with cabinet secretaries and heads of agencies to discuss ways to boost funding for cancer treatment and funding. you may remember that his son, beau, died in may after battling brain cancer. he was the attorney. general. in delaware. biden has spent his last months in office battling for a cure.>> they have already done that to a large degree, but they need to keep continuing doing that.>> it is a wonderful goal. if in fact there is success. it would be remarkable to see that happen. get outside and enjoy the weather while you can.>> apparently danielle is back with the extended forecast

come on down to the king soopers on i was in aurora. it has been a fun time and in aurora. it has been a fun time. we have been watching the afternoon long, but they did come with some pretty warm temperatures. in fact, many spots at the 50s today. we had gusty wind out of the warmest up significantly. we had temperatures in the 50s and 60s earlier across the eastern plains and in the cool. let's take a look at the rest of the evening. it looks like the wind speed will only get stronger. in fact, i 11:00-midnight

mile-per-hour gusts in the foothills and the front range. by tomorrow afternoon, the file -- the wind will finally calmed down and we will have 20-30 mile-per-hour gusts here and there. after we get through the wind, all eyes are out to the western toward the next storm that is moving in. right now it is in the pacific northwest bringing scattered rain showers across the coastline and snow showers in the cascades in the sierra nevada's. that will be here thursday and friday. we have some time to wait. here is the future cast taking to through the rest of the evening. it looks pretty quiet around the metro area and up to the mountains. we are good to go. there are no excuses, get down here to king soopers by 11:00. there are a few clouds out there and then everything changes overnight. the front will be moving into parts of northwestern colorado by 8:00 in the morning and we will have a better chance of seeing some early snow showers.

track to the south. they stay west of the continental divide. truly this looks like a mountain event tomorrow. i 10:00-11:00, things will wind down and those calls pritchett to the metro area. then, we could see snowfall coming in on friday. i just say a little bit. you can see the forecast up-and- down the i-25 corridor. i am talking 1 inch or less as the max. in the foothills, maybe 3 inches. the high country will have a heyday with this system. they will be the ones that will see six 6-10 inches. tonight we get down, but not too bad. there it is 22 in fort collins and 25 in denver. teens and 20s in the eastern plains. mild air on our hands as we had the gusty wind moving through. then east of the continental divide, there are still a

that are sub-zero tomorrow morning. the wind will be howling all night long around the foothills. tonight in the metro area, we cool off to around 25. other than that, it is dry and mild. tomorrow, not quite as warm as tomorrow. mid-40s is where we should be for this time of year. across the eastern plains, it will be a bit warmer and you guys have more sunshine to work with. it will be in the 50s for some folks. 20s and 30s and the mountains. you can see in the heart of the city that we are going to be in the mid-40s. a little cooler, but not bad considering it is the middle of january in the middle of winter. we are looking okay. the cooler air that comes with this next storm system that arrives on friday, friday is the best shot at seeing flurries. i don't think it will be a huge event for the metro area. we will have an inch top or less. -- tops or less. then the temperatures drop down to the teens and then saturday we remain cool and dry. then things warm up a hair on sunday.

flakes flying on sunday and then we dry out on monday. check the broncos forecast. it shows we may have a little bit of a disturbance tip right in for the prime time broncos game. kickoff is around to: 30. the temperatures will be on the cooler side with maybe a couple of snowflakes here and there. i don't think we will have any problems whatsoever. look at this little guy. who is this?>> this is sandy who is a mixture of a labrador retriever and an australian shepherd.>> reporter: oh my goodness, she is so cute. where as her broncos outfit? >> she left it at home. >> reporter: we need to find her a new outfit. absolutely. we will find out what goes down with this game on sunday. there are more magnets out here. mark and kim, keep the people coming. this is a great event to keep

this is trending today. a lot of people are excited to learn that the entire cast of friends will be back together. it will not be for reenactment of the sitcom. they are planning a special to honor director james burrows. they promised that all the stars will be involved., getting them all together in the same room may not happen. rose has directed many television sitcoms, including friends.

we are so excited. as we approach this weekend, the fans and big lines across the state because we know fans are everywhere. the broncos are a regional team and we are trying to get everybody covered thanks to king soopers who are the ones pulling it off. the broncos play the steelers in their first game -- playoff

it is going to be so much fun. this is a great kickoff to the big game that we have going on on sunday. >> phenomenal. i have to say that we were camera and saw all those astonished too. there are selfies left and right.>> and they got on tv too. we like to see that. the players got some rest with the first-round bye. stay with you -- say what you will about the health of the steelers, this game will likely come down to help peyton manning place. he is one of the game 's greatest, but he is 9, 1 and done. he will be center against the steelers on sunday.

roads are closed and smoke can be seen for miles around an oil well built -- near chickasha oklahoma which is 40 miles southwest of oklahoma city. the news copter show several vehicles and other pieces of equipment have been destroyed in the place. it started around 3:30 this afternoon. troopers with the oklahoma highway patrol have shut the area down and roadways have been closed because smoke is limiting visibility. there is no word on what caused the yet -- caused the fire, or
