put your magnet? >> on the refrigerator. >> reporter: all right. let's get you guys that forecast. just one day way from the playoff game and the forecast for today is looking quiet. a little chilly starting off with temperatures in the teens on the map. your highs for today a bit warmer than yesterday with 30s up and down the i-25 corridor, chillier closer to the foothills, in the 20s. but you'll notice that early this morning we've got that sunshining brightly. there are areas of patchy fog, especially to the north of the metro area towards greeley and weld county. here is a look at doppler 9. early flurries. that is already fading out of the picture. snow falling closer to the foothills and in the high country where travel advisories remain in effect until 9 a.m. that snow will be tapering off through midday and another round of snow is on its way. take a look towards the pacific northwest. another wave of snow tonight for the mountains. will any of that arrive here on the front range? we will let you know coming up

the rocky mountain task force captured him at a motel in thornton yesterday. he and two others wore masks when they robbed two banks, violently carjacked drivers and shot people in the process. a warning for women about a group of criminals called the felony lane gang. they are targeting women. 9news reporter vida urbonas is in the information with more on this regarding thefts in douglas and arapahoe counties. >> reporter: this is scary. investigators say they are targeting women who leave their cars unattended in douglas county and aurora. they hit gyms and daycares, other places where women often go. they are after our purse, checkbooks left behind in vehicles. the criminals will try to cash the checks using the drive through lanes at local banks. deputies say there are ways to stay safe. >> lock your vehicles when you leave your car, even if only for a minute.

time to take your stuff out of your car. >> reporter: several thefts happened on december 17 and 18 and they know of over thefts in douglas county and aurora. members of the felony lane gang work in teams of three or four members and they may idle in lots while they surveil the area. report any suspicious activity right away. vida urbonas, 9news. a clear creek county deputy says his fatherly instinct helped him save two little girls who investigators say were abducted by their father. an amber alert had been issued for the girls. deputy paul os skel spotted a car parked. he called in the license part and walked up to the car with perez and two girls inside. the dispatcher radioed back with disturbing information. >> officer safety bolo and kidnapping with two children in the back seat.

that male out of the car. there is no love like a parent's love. to see the situation that those little girls were in were heartbreaking. >> he says perez struggled a little bit, but he was able to pull him out. perez is the father of those children. is accused of killing their mother and her father in michigan. an update on the colorado springs planned parenthood shootings. several news organizations are trying to fight a judge's order to seal the details in this case. local and national news outlets, including the "associated press," have filed a petition. it argues the public has a constitutional right to monitor the operations of the court system. the gunman is accused of killing three people and wounding nine others in that november attack. he shot and killed a man in el paso county. michael mallory was spent to 48 years in prison for the death of baird. >> mallory was convicted in october. but didn't act alone.

used, made the photos bleed. so i found this mod pong that looks like this. this is perfect. put it under photos. it doesn't bleed. and then to attach it, you know, to your back, i found glue that is jewelry glue, that secures your pendant. >> you make them black and white and go from there. i will show you how to do it. you want to work on the square one while i work on the round one? >> okay. i am going to work on the dog, create a round pendant. put your piece on your photo and you trace all the way around with a pen or pencil. once you're done with that you're requesting to cut out on -- you are going to cut out

now that i have that cut out, the next step, what i do is take my mod podge, i put some on the brush. then you attach your photo just like that. you need to let this fully dry for maybe 30 minutes. once that dries, then you can put a little more mod podge. so you really coat your photo so it doesn't bleed. now you're gonna let this dry fully. you could let it dry overnight or a couple hours before you attach it to the back of the pendant. this one is already dry. i am going to show you how to attach the backing to this with

it's the second weekend of the national western stock show. this morning temperatures at 22 degrees. around noon 36, and then around 3:00 more clouds, temperatures 38 degrees. the current temperatures are chilly around town. we have got some single-digits in the high country. a couple of those temperatures in the single-digits in mountain valleys. the highs for today will be in the 20s and 30s in the high country, and 30s in lower elevation. it's just gonna be a little warmer than where we were yesterday. a winter weather advisory remains in effect in the high country. so that travel along i-70 could still be a tough one. i am expecting for that snow to the high country. mostly sunny skies here in the city. but later this afternoon clouds increase in the city and late this afternoon and evening that snow increases in the high country as well. now, overnight some flurries are possible near weld county, also not expected to last through tomorrow morning. we are going to wake up to that's gonna clear up before the broncos versus steelers game.

overnight it turns mostly cloudy and then we will have a chance for some snow, especially in parts of weld county, northeast colorado. that will last through 9:00 in the morning. that weather is expected to clear up just in time for the broncos versus steelers game. also have to watch out for some stronger winds, especially in the high country, and closer to the foothills also. i am talking about gusts that could get up to 30 miles per hour through this evening. possible gusts in the foothills up to about 40 miles per hour. so something to watch out for. but you know what? thankfully, those winds will help it feel a little better as far as the temperatures go. mostly cloudy skies. tomorrow the high of 35 on monday martin luther king jr. day a high of 48. a great forecast for the parade. wednesday 51. on thursday a high of 50 degrees. steelers forecast. tomorrow skies partly cloudy. kickoff temperatures are expected to be at 2:30. if you didn't get your broncos magnet, we have another tomorrow.
