a little bit, especially after a long holiday weekend. folks might have trouble getting back in to the swing of it tomorrow. it is down right windy in the mountains and foothills. around the area today, we are seeing light snow, moving in to northwest, west central colorado. flat tops , the flash flood watch along the gunnison river because of the ice jam up there around the ranch. very cold temperatures. benefiting from down sloping winds, in the 20s and 30s in the metro area. you go through weld county, northeast plains, single figures this morning. folks are going to gather down, civic center park, city park, civic center park this morning, seeing the gathering around 9:00 a.m., mid 30s to upper 40s, by the time the parade

pushing in to the 40s. quite pleasant, topping in and out the 50s today as you go down the hill, so to speak, northern colorado, considerably cooler today. temperatures in the 30s, and low 40s. amelia earhart, it's about the wind. the down sloping wind heats things up, we have that going in the foothills this morning. today, no exception, we will have two hands on the wheel, as you are getting on the west side. the wind is not enough to keep sky 9 down. they are flying over 36 and i- 25, picked up from rocky today. it's going to be lighter than average with a lot of people enjoying a nice holiday, day off. let's look at the commute as we head to the c dot camera, i-70, ward road the west side, ex- lents conditions, no i-70 issues, heading anywhere to the west side of i-25, as we check out the drive on commerce city, popping up to 6 minutes, doing

dealing with a crash, this is westbound i-70, quebec, 270 you may see a slowdown, we are pleased with the speeds for now. we will let you know as this starts to change and give you an alternate route if it's necessary. with that touchdown, broncos secured a spot in the afc title game this sunday, beating the pittsburgh steelers 23-16, ron zappolo is joining me in the information center. the offense struggled. defense making the play. >> broncos struggled on both sides of the ball for most of the day. i don't think it was their best performance by far. good teams win when they don't play they best.

most of the time a game like yesterday, that is so tight, comes down to a turnover. that was the only turn i don't over of the game, steelers 13- 12, driving for what could have been a score. roby knocked the ball out of tucson's arms. manning made a huge throw to fouler. they ran the ball in from there, got the lead and defense took over. i will say this, the broncos and they know this, i'm not going to say anything they don't know, are going to have to play significantly better next sunday, to beat the patriots. the performance they stayed yesterday will not be good enough against belichick and brady. broncos have a lot of work to do. >> it was a stressful game. incredible story this season.

manning would miss half the season, they would become the numb one seed. manning morph in to a game yesterday. he was 22 for 37, over 200 yards, tho interceptions and -- no interceptions and no touchdown passes. no interceptions is the big thing. he had thrown 17. most of any quarterbackment they had no turnovers, didn't make mistakes. they made the steelers drive up and down field, which the steelers did but kicked field goals instead of score touchdowns, when you are on the road, that usually gets you beat and that was the case yesterday. >> we want to get your take on the patriots, the game coming up on sunday and the match up between manning and tom brady. that's coming up in the next half hour around 6:30. look forward to that. >> you are going to have a chance to buy the hottest ticket in town. afc c championship game at sports authority field will go

days, the 50-year-old man never returned home after hiking st. mary's glacier. members of the alpine less cue -- rescue team called off the search. poor visibility because of the blowing snow. rescue dogs will be out today to help with the search. for the fourth time democrats took to the stage to debate the issues. tarhonda thomas is here with more. donald trump's name didn't come up too often. >> that's a surprise. not as often as hilary clinton's name came up during the last republican debate. just ahead of their first test. the eye eye caucuses are in two weeks , the first round of voting that shows candidates where they stand in the primaries. perhaps that's why the claws were out. clinton and sanders wouldn't let up. o'malley watched the two other candidates.

included health care reform, gun legislation, and foreign policy. we asked our political analyst about the performance, democrat james says his party still looks better than the republican side. republican kelly mayer questions whether the democrats have any viable candidates based on last night's debates. >> martin o'malley barely spoke, bernie sanders is a avowed social list and hilary clinton taking the race for granted thus far and scared and trying to deal it with without not electable. >> all true, i support anyone on the democratic stage before i support anything on the republican stage, i think you are going to find a majority of with me. >> bill clinton got a few mentions. hilary clinton would like to get her husband's advice if elected president.

30s, 40s in the northern colorado areas, 40s and windy conditions in foothills. snow i mentioned in the mountains, just starts getting going late this afternoon, but really picks up after sunset tonight, 1 to 4 inches of new snow of mountain areas. 30s, 40s over the northeast plains, low 50s around here and in southeast colorado. we will be in the 50s, with 30s and 40s in the mountains, high clouds early. call in town, we can make 50 plus in to the 20s tonight , the light snow develops early tomorrow morning, lasts until 9:30 or 10:00 in the morning, clears out, we stay in the 40s for a few days before a very warm tail end to the week. amelia earhart, great to see sky 9 be able to get up. er we had nasty wind last week. >> couple of days, sky 9 wasn't

clouds, flags, 9 news hanging straight down. man, is it ripping again, in the mountains and foothills. 56 miles per hour, i have seen it over 60 there this morning. up and down i-25s not a lot of wind because of that, we do have wood burning restrictions below 7000 feet today and some poor visibility expected especially from downtown to the east. snow starting to anybody until to the western -- nibble in to the western regions , the flash flood watch along the gunnison river, because of the ice jam, north and east of the gunnison area, snow pouring in, utah to the mountains tonight. we could see light snow here tomorrow morning. "marade" this morning, folks gather around 9:00, temperatures in the 30s, by the time we start the "marade", we will be in the mid to upper 40s, thin the clouds out early afternoon, spends an hour or

were mason's accomplices. mason was captured last week. the search is on this morning for several americans who are missing in iraq. the iraqi government confirmed this morning that they were kidnapped from their interpreters home in baghdad. a spokesman from the u.s. embassy says it's working with iraqi leaders to find the missing americans, cnn reporting they were contractors. security really deteriorated in and around baghdad after months of relative calm. well, broncos fans we are moving on. denver will face new eng land sunday in the afc title game after the win. ron zappolo is joining me in the information center. i wasn't pretty but a win is a win. >> that's all you look at. you don't get style points or say we have five, circumstances, seven games to go, we are building towards something.

they found a way to win a game in the fourth quarter and used an on opportunistic defense. steelers had 8 big plays. this is a 40-yard run by bryant, sets up a 15-yard run . you cannot have those kind of plays and win the game. late in the second quarter, this was the broncos best play. 35-yard run by cj anderson, you just have to do a better job on defense of limiting the big plays. that, to me, clearly the biggest play of the game, 13-12 in the fourth quarter, bradley roby, rips the ball out of t uso n's arms. from there they ran it in, they got down to the goalline, cj anderson took it over.

got to the 43-yard line. fourth and 5, think didn't get a lot of pressure on roethlisberger all day. miller came, in hit him, ware finished him sufficient. that was the game. mc mannis was 5 of 5, the punter, did a good job. they won the special teams battle. all those things, they will have to do and do them even at a higher level, there is a reason why the patriots are favored in this game. a road favorite. you don't see that in conference championship games very often. people believe that the patriots have the better team. the broncos have homefield advantage. they beat the patriots this year without peyton manning and the part of this game i'm going to love, everybody is going to talk about how it's tom brady, against peyton manning. it's not. it's tom brady against wade

i know what the patriots are going to try to do. they are healthier and going to spread the broncos out, 3 wide receivers, they don't run the ball at all. the they don't try to run the ball. they didn't run it saturday against kansas city. brady is going to want to get the ball out real quick so he avoids miller and ware, a lot of short passes he feels can turn in to bigger gains, that's going to be the key. can the broncos get pressure on brady, make him through it before he wants. enough to play. it's going to be a heck of a game. >> everyone is comparing manning and tom brady, putting the two against each other, those 17. that. done better. >> two years ago, they played here, same deal, 26-16 denver.

good luck being better than tarhonda thomas. did you see her? she is pretty good at that. 6:44 now, we honor the life of dr. martin luther king jr. his birthday is january 15th, this holiday is marked on the third monday in january. he would have been 87 years old on friday. the first martin luther king jr. day was marked in 1983. denver began the tradition of a "marade" ax mar and have parade, two years -- "marade", a march and parade. it's the largest celebrations in the country. denver will honor the activists by gathering at at the i have a dream memorial in city park at 9:25, following a ceremony, the crowd will head colfax for the annual "marade." things will wrap up at civic center park with a larger rally. last year we set a record with 40,000 people taking part in the march and parade. it's a big deal, marty.
