day to honor martin luther king jr. in denver today. they say they tree today as a day on and not a day off. they marched from city park to civic center park honoring the celebrated dr. martin luther king jr. day as an official state holiday. a number of politicians, city leaders and others came to perlmutter. >> it's a great day to reflect on why we are here. it is democracy, equality for all an opportunity.>> reporter: a group of protesters marched during the parade in their own parade holding black lives matter signs. they had a list of demands for the city including affordable housing.

all work and no play is never fun. that is why there is a new trend in traveling this year. it is called bleisure which is a mix between business and leisure. millennial business travelers are credited with big changes in traveling. that includes hotel rooms without desks because they are more likely to work in a coffee shop or a common area of the hotel. >> millennial business travelers have money to spend, but they are not brand loyal. they are looking for an authentic experience in a more technology driven experience when they stay at hotels. >> reporter: the airline industry is taking note of changing travel desires. they are offering more seats with usb plug-ins on airplanes so you can charge cell phones, ipads and laptops.

rescue. where firefighters were battling an apartment complex fire. trapped in the apartment filled with smoke. firefighter climbed the ladder to the second story window and took the child. he lowered the child to another firefighter. the mom and six other adults in the complex were also rescued. the complex owner thinks that a homeless person started the fire in a stairwell. a spacex rocket successfully launched a satellite into orbit today. the rocket's returned had a rough landing. it landed on a floating barge in the pacific. as you can see here, a support leg look -- broke and it toppled over and burst into flames.

counter. he wrote that the root cause of the failed landing may have been ice buildup caused by heavy fog during liftoff. a 911 operator in broward county florida has been reprimanded for ordering pizza while answering calls. it happened last september. the operators been more than eight minutes ordering lunch after taking extra time to double check prices. while this was going on, a patient at a fort lauderdale dr.'s office was having a seizure. they not -- they got no response. the patient recovered and is doing okay. the 911 operator got a written reprimand. heartbreak turn to celebration on sunday evening in seattle. it was supposed to be a wedding and six weeks ago the groom backed out.

hello and welcome back. i am meteorologist kathy sabine in the 9news backyard. we have had clouds coming and head of the storm system which will change the picture tomorrow. many of you will wake up to light snow tomorrow morning for the morning drive. that will be a big change from 51 degrees in the city. westerly down sloping wind certainly was a benefit today. 45 at dia currently. the wind is shifting and will remain light. in the studio -- at the studio it is 43 degrees.

colorado and will bring colder air. currently we are in the mid- 40s, but we are on the fringe of an arctic air mass off to the east. these are current fahrenheit readings across the midwest and the northern plains states. we are setting our sights on the first weather maker coming from the northwest. winter weather and travel advisories have gone out. to the east of us, there are dangerous wind chill values for knoxville, cincinnati and outside of washington and new york where we are monitoring snow reports tonight. there are winter weather advisories tonight from 6:00 p.m. through tomorrow. the other feature is the wind that will be increasing out of the west. that could create blowing and drifting and difficult travel conditions.

snow. the good news is that the system is a fast mover. look how quickly it moves to the east of us. there is another one following on wednesday in into thursday. this one is out of here by midmorning. it will be colder. not as cold as the east of us where we are on the fringe of the arctic air mass. we have clouds settling in and snow developing in the northern and central mountains. the snow moves into debt -- into denver around 6:30 in the morning. it will be done by 10:30 in the morning. we will have clear skies in the afternoon and the chilly day. we start off with 20s and the lower elevations and teens in the high country. it will be cold for the western half of the state and cooler for denver and the front range. we are just on the western edge of what could be a very cold arctic outbreak. even with a little bit of snow during the morning drive, we are doing pretty well. the forecast is cloudy with snow developing after about 3:00 in the morning. we're not expecting more than an inch of accumulation. mid-30s by the afternoon with sunshine.
