the officers in connection with the death of michael marshall the local school board is meeting to discuss the arapahoe high school shooting. this week. victoria chan says is outside -- sanchez is outside the should they had done something more to stop the shooting? >> reporter: exactly, the arapahoe high school says that public school officials could have done something before hand. this is the first time that school is addressing the 2013 shooting. it is happening at the school board right behind me at 4:00. over flow seeding. this is just getting underway and the school board will discuss the findings of two commissioned reports. that -- a third report from the

they will not be responsible for major failures in communication and threat assessments before claire davis was killed. they will discuss what happened in a time before their daughter was shot and killed. the meeting will go on from 5:00-5:30 when there will be public comments and they will address the media about the shooting. we will finally get some answers. a woman suspected of stabbing fire chief eric tade was in court, but did not come out from behind closed doors.

9news.com. doctors at the centers for disease control are becoming more and more concerned with the threat of virus. it is limited to latin america and the caribbean and is a danger to women who are microcephaly in the fetus. it is most often transferred -- transmitted by mosquito, although a researcher may have been the first to transfer the virus to someone else, his wife, and it happen through intercourse. this followed a research trip to senegal. he was surrounded by mosquitoes and within a week after he

receives symptoms of the fire is. he had a virus -- a rash on his chest and was sensitive to light. those are common symptoms of zika virus. a few days later his wife showed signs of the symptoms and they were both tested for the virus -- for many things, but not zika virus. and then they tested for zika virus just to be sure. >> we said that we should test for zika virus . we did that and we sent the labs to the cdc and hours showed high antiviral activity. it was pretty darn clear. it took a year before we figured out the results, unfortunately.>> he says that he and other researchers believe the virus was transmitted through sex. it was not any old physical contact.

hd doppler 9, you can see storm -- the storm is moving to parts of the gulf coast. there are tornado watches until 10:00 tonight. this is the storm that will plow into the eastern seaboard over the weekend. we will soon out to the pacific northwest where we look for the next storm system. it will roll in just in time for the broncos game on sunday afternoon. we will get you through this evening and we will have plenty of sunshine for the next couple of hours. we will have clear conditions so if you have thursday evening plans, we should be good to go. it will be calm to now and there will be a big warm up for tomorrow. wait until you see the numbers. i will be tracking the little bit of snow for the broncos forecast. we will get to that in just a minute. it is time to get the magnet on . these guys are so excited. this is brian, what time did

fort collins housing prices are similar to those in boulder. the prices in the collegetown will double in 10 years. not all of colorado, just this area will double. they expect the houses in fort collins to reach above the $360,000 mark. windsor is the most expensive and greeley will most likely stay the most affordable. the average home price in fort collins will top $600,000 in 10 years. aaa employees will be paid sick leave. -- chipotle employees will be paid sick leave for safety training. there was an e. coli outbreak and then it was followed by a norovirus outbreak. they had dna-based testing for many ingredients and they have discussed food handling practices. reporters know that if you have had a long day and you were tired and stressed out,

the snacks are irresistible. user -- you just forget the nutrition nonsense. a lot of people see work as their bare -- their biggest barrier to health goals. researchers found that 74% of people want to eat better and exercise. they also want to talk with their doctors about overall wellness. they say that their work schedule is the biggest obstacle. another reason for falling short is food cost, caring for loved ones and lack of sleep. researchers say that making a plan and writing it down and checking in with yourself about health goals could be a good way to stay on track. >> i feel like you are talking to me about that one. >> i think that is a problem a lot of people have.>> it is a copout. i am guilty and i will say i am tired and i didn't get enough

january 28 is a sad anniversary for the country. we were there with a group of elementary students who were there to watch the launch. this weekend we will look back at that time in a 30 minute special.

space is hard to describe. it is amazing, it is exciting, it is perplexing, it is dangerous. we found that out three decades ago when we lost seven brave people. [ music ]even though we did not really know them that well, their deaths hit us hard. we came to feel the pain of their families, friends and coworkers. they taught us what it is to be american heroes. we learned the lessons from a teacher who dedicated her life to teaching from space. six young kids from colorado learn those lessons. maybe they were too young or innocent to feel the whole weight of what they saw, but they had to grow up fast, and they did.

turned to decades, the shuttle kids became successful adults. some with kids of their own. engineers, business professionals, technicians and artists were all influenced in part by their shared experience. they are smart, thoughtful and caring and they remind us what it is to live and love and cherish life. to this day, they are excited about what happens in space. i was pretty excited about space when i stepped in the history 30 years ago. big stories create vague memories. i can remember it like yesterday.

as everybody is trying to get in. the line is backed up for probably a mile. it is insane. we will talk about the forecast really quick and you can see the life camera looking over downtown denver. it has been a nice day with blue skies. you know what? look at temperatures in the 40s and some in the 50s. temperatures in the high country's have been in the teens and 20s for most of the day. looking at age 3 doppler nine, you -- at hd doppler nine, you can see the clouds that have been here through the week are starting to move out. you can see the storm system headed across parts of the gulf coast. the tornado watches their continue until 10:00 tonight. the weather will be a factor for them in louisiana and mississippi. the system is gathering more energy as it starts to lift and pushed to the eastern seaboard and the mid-atlantic states.

pressure as it assumes up the coastline. -- zooms up the coastline. it is going to bring some blockbuster snow totals. we are talking possibly 18-24 inches of snow. you can see it in the forecast. it looks like the bull's-eye will be around dc, baltimore, virginia and west virginia. that is where there will be the worst conditions with when up to 55-60 miles per hour. here is the deal. we will take you back to the home of the broncos and as we go through the rest of the evening, things look quiet and dry. around 8:00 tomorrow morning, it is friday and things look good. we will have mostly sunny skies and it should be breezy. there it is at 5:00. things are looking good. through the remainder of the evening, if you have friday night plans, thing should be a- ok. the numbers will be warming up.

teens in grayling and -- in greeley in fort collins. single digits in steamboat springs. in the metro area we will have clear skies. sunrise at 7:16 tomorrow with the wind relatively quiet and calm. it will feel like spring at 52 in the metro area and the upper 40s in greeley. 50s in fort collins and 30s and 40s on the western slope. it will be a warm one. 30s and 40s around the foothills and they will warm up. look at that, close to 60 degrees for some of the metro locations. up-and-down i-25, 40s and 50s and we are looking good. nothing but sunshine from here on out. okay, only the first half of the weekend. 56 on saturday and then we cool off on sunday. we are talking about a couple

every year of the 110 years at the national western stock show has changes. >> a group and the horse paddock proves the bond the point -- between volunteers.>> do you want a boat or a horse? there you go. >> reporter: john land has been part of the national western experience. the other volunteers have been part of his extended family.

>> reporter: back in -- this year, the connection is being proved in a way he would never have imagined. for two years, john has battled chronic kidney failure with his wife by his side. >> i had to go through dialysis and i started looking for a kidney. >> reporter: it turned out that his part -- is perfect match was his perfect match, his partner of almost 40 years. >> we have been around since 1977. i want him around. if i can do something to help my husband, what a better way than that. >> reporter: the transplant failed and the word got around the horse paddock.>> people said, we are in, where can i go?>> reporter: josh bob is one of many volunteers who has offered to be alive kidney donor. >> for me, it is just something where i will like, i will

we are here in the 9news backyard with a six-year-old shorthair german shepherd mix. she is active and she loves to play, fetch and go on walks. she loves to chase balls. can you tell us more about her.
