little film school board members are meeting to go over the findings of two reports that they commissioned looking into the arapahoe high school shooting a little over two years ago. the shooter killed 17-year-old claire davis and then himself . 9news reporter, victoria sanchez joins us now.>> reporter: there are three reports, but right now they are only talking about two of the reports that were commissioned by the school board. the meeting continues behind me. it started at 4:00 and it does not look like it will wrap up soon. public comments will go on after the meeting. the superintendent says that he is sorry for the lives that were lost.

school district did make mistakes. this is the first time that the school district is speaking publicly about the 2013 shooting. the school board will discuss the findings of the reports. a third report from the university of colorado will not be addressed. the report says that officials from arapahoe high school are responsible for major failures and communication, assessment and thinking in the months and years before tiki five killed claire davis. -- tiki five killed claire davis. they did say that this -- tiki five -- karl pearson killed claire davis . they did say that schools are safer now. >> working with community agencies to better support student mental health needs. the last one is supporting the ongoing recovery and resiliency activities related to crisis response in our schools.>>

an agreement that they would not seek damages from the district or individuals at the school if the school would answer questions about what happened leading up to the shooting. the meeting will continue for at least another hour or two. nelson garcia will have more on exactly what the school district is planning to do. this is the first time the school district is speaking about this since 2013. we should hear more from the public. right now there are about 100 people inside this need to the report. >> i know that the parents of claire davis have been pushing for this transparency. victoria sanchez, thank you so much. the family of an inmate who died in the denver jail back in november says video released by the city shows deputies holding him on the ground for at least 15 minutes. the inmate, michael marshall , was only 5'4" tall and weighed 112 pounds. one of the deputies restraining

they were applying way to the middle of marshal's back. the da declined to file charges against the deputies in the case. the decision that -- the family says the decision is an outrage. we try to watch the evidence and make some sense of city leaders have been giving us as to why michael marshall is dead. why he goes into the denver jail on the most minimum charge iman schmoll and he leaves on a gurney -- imaginable and he leaves on a gurney.>> reporter: they say that the deputies used excessive force during marshal's episode. the death by homicide means that his death was caused by another person and not necessarily that it was malicious. command from colorado, a professor from csu, said he

>> reporter: in fort collins, christine noel, 9news. the cdc is investigating all possible ways the virus could be transmitted. 80 million americans on the east coast and mostly in the mid-atlantic region are bracing for a winter storm that could bring as much is 2 feet of snow. forecasters say that washington, dc is one of the cities in the bull's-eye. the mayor has declared a state of emergency. schools will be closed tomorrow as well as government offices and businesses. >> we are prepared for a blizzard. i have lived in dc for most of my life and i don't know that i have lived through forecast like this with an extremely large storm. it will last 36 hours.>> reporter: a foot of snow is expected in philadelphia and new york and other parts of the

the los angeles zoo employee is safe after falling into the zoo's zoo -- guerrilla enclosure. a rescue team pulled the 61- year-old out of a moat. the western lowland gorillas were kept away as firefighters lowered a layout -- a ladder. there is no word as to how or why the man fell in. there were two slides the came down along berthoud pass. the first one was at about 11:35 this morning and the 40. there are no crashes or injuries reported as to result of the slides. the owners of the phrasing -- the fraser tubing hill played -- painted their entire business to support the broncos. everything is blue and orange.>> reporter: you bet. they did the whole operation blue and orange.

to highlight how crucial it is to pay attention when you are driving, the sheriff in lincoln county, oregon posted a video. deputies say an incident was accidental when a todd your -- a toddler was in the road. no charges were brought against the parents. tsa intercepted a record number of firearms during the course of the year.

more mild than that. we are cooling off in a hurry. we have been tracking the wins out of the north on the backside of a powerful low pressure system. the gusty north winds are starting to ease somewhat. we are pretty close to where we should be for this time of year. we will see the numbers increased by about 10 degrees on friday afternoon and saturday, ahead of the nick system. the system we have been tracking -- next system. the system we have been tracking today has when decreasing out of the south. look how quiet the radar is across the western u.s. the western u.s. the weather is headed to the south east where it is picking up that warm gulf moisture creating a severe weather threat. they have showers, thunderstorms and even tornadoes. there is a tornado watch for the area shaded in yellow. just to the north, winter storm warnings extend from memphis all the way up into portions of the carolinas.

the area of low pressure will lift out of texas and it will be pulling in wind from a separate cold front. lizard conditions are possible across boston, washington, dc -- washington, dc in philadelphia. before the storm hits over the weekend, it becomes a major rain producer. we will get up to 3 inches rain -- of rain possible between now and friday night. as we see the low slide across the gulf and up to the north east, we will see the cold air follow suit. in the meantime, colorado and points west word are enjoying a drying trend. that means temperatures will be above average for the next 48 hours. we will enjoy highs in the 50s where just to the east there are temperatures in the teens
