danielle, we should not be fooled. >> mark, this is the beginning of a mull day storm. still the center of it is positioned in california and nevada, we have a long way to go as the system inches into colorado and the heaviest snowfall in the next 24 hours. there it is on h.d. doppler 9 rain and snow to many of our neighbors to the west. around here the western slope is picking up plenty of snowfall along i-70 north and south. and colorado spring as couple of stronger bands from the south. snow fall from castle rock to the north. the snow is going to be coming and going as the overnight period goes on. things weakening just a little bit on the i-24 corridor, but going strong in the foothills and the mountains. overnight tonight the brief pauses here and there. by 2:00, the eastern side of the denver metro area in a

and 6:00 a.m. another lull, the snowfall to the north and south of the city. then by about 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. the storm starts off in full gear. full force ahead throughout most of the afternoon. as the stronger bands start to push in. the gustier winds move in. this storm sets up across southeastern colorado, we should have a good event. winter storm warnings in place for nearly the entire state until noontime on tuesday. so again, the storm system is here. the first couple of bans on the fringe range. tomorrow-- front range, a big mild -- messy. 7:00 to 8:00 i will be going over all of the questions, those details in a few minutes.

and picking up the snow, and our 9 news crews are working overtime. victoria is up-and-down the i- 24 corridor, and c470, it was a mess earlier. >> reporter: it was a mess earlier. right now it is lightly snowing here in littleton. and the plows made one pass. we drove down i-27 and then up highway 85 and saw a number of accidents in just the half hour from denver to castle rock, six accidents. some of the cars slides off the road and down embankments. they are deploying snowplows at midnight. crews will try to make the roads passable. c-d.o.t. will clear the roads through tuesday. >> we focus on our primary roads, our interstates, our roads like -- 6th avenue, c470,

but we also have roads like kipling, they are secondary roads, we will have plows, but not like the major roads like the freeways. >> reporter: the goal is to have the roads as best they can be for morning rush hour. take extra time and don't pass the plows. there is a tracker site on c- d.o.t.'s website. you see the plows where they are and headed. that is a good tip for drivers to check on-line to see if the roads to your morning commute are clear. out of the 970 snowplows in colorado, mark, 840 have the new trackers. >> thanks, victoria, reporting live. thank you. the department of corrections is say elizabeth one of the employees was involved in a shooting between two motorcycle clubs on saturday at the national western complex. one man was killed several others were hospitalized. the agency will not see how the

i love this shot out there. and shannon capturing this one, a couple of eagles perched above the river out there. this evening a different story. the storm system is beginning to barrel into colorado. up to the high country the worst conditions of snowfall is coming down at the tunnels and slow traveling as well. this weekend we have been talking about this two-part system. the first one moved through last night and early this morning now all eyes on the second one which is still positioned to the west in california and nevada, and slinging up rain for southern california, and los angeles, and san diego, and snowfall areas to the north in the great basin. this system will be sitting over the four corners by tomorrow morning. so slowly inching its way to colorado and closer to the sweet spot, southeastern colorado, that's where we need the storm to be, and the northwesterly winds move into the eastern plains and smack into parts of the front rage, that potential could bring us

tomorrow evening the worst as far as the snow and winds. the storm finally lifts to the north and east by tuesday morning. still a couple of bands of snowfall on the back side of this storm, but everything starts to move out by tuesday afternoon and tuesday evening. again, right now on h.d. doppler 9 this is just a taste of what is to come. a half-inch in the back yard, a little bit more piling up to the western slope on i-70, grand junction is seeing snow. and down across the san juans, too. and the i-25 corridor the snowfall just continuing to intensify to the north of castle rock. this slight band will be inning closer to the denver metro area. again just a taste of what's to which later on tomorrow afternoon. that's when it really is going to start to ratch up. acouple of light showers to the west of town, west of boulder, looking at steady snowfall. it will be on and off as we go

so tomorrow morning you wake up, not huge snowfall amounts yet. give it some time, until the afternoon, and that's when it is really will be messy around here. again the timing of it all, it is coming and starting now, the heaviest snowfall on monday and total done by tuesday afternoon into the evening. mountains two feet on top of what they saw the past couple of days. it is wild up there, around the plains 16 to 18 inches. the higher amounts in the foothills. and travel is tough, doing a road trip tomorrow or trying to catch a flight out of dia it will be a mess. check with your airline and also blowing snow. so be aware for the next 24 to 36 hours. overnight, a few lulls in the action. 2:00 to 3:00, a little bit of a break. the drive in, 7:00 to 8:00, snow, but it ramps up in

in the morning. 3:00p.m. when maybe the kids are coming home from school, maybe they had a snow day the winds will start whipping around the eastern plains and the center of circulation is in southeastern colorado, the northeasterly winds in the front range that will help to create the upslope event. by 10:00 to 11:00 this system is not going anywhere. it will take until tuesday morning the damage is done. the drive into work or school on tuesday will be messily out there. and around lunchtime to storm system begins to break a part. winter storm warnings for nearly the entire stayed, can broad estimate. the eastern plains you guys will have a good dose, the in. 8 to 24 inches in the high

and 18 to 36 for the san jauns. abreakdown of the foothills, 10 to 12. northern colorado 7 to 14. and the southern suburbs a little bit more for you folks, too. tonight 18 degrees, the snowfall is increasing. 2 to 4 inches by tomorrow morning's drive. and for most of tomorrow it will be a wintery, raw, snowy, cold and blustery day with potentially four to eight inches accumulating. temperatures tomorrow they will be tough. low 20s at best around here. maybe a couple of spots trying to 30 with 30 degrees, but a cool one out here. don't worry, hunker down, tuesday. this storm system moves out and
