4:00 pm
wonderful confetti filled super >> how very special. i know a lot of details of this party this took place at the team hotel after the win last night are still being kept tightly secret. we'll have to see what mike klis and rod mackey and aaron matas know, but there were reporters asking questions such as who was the best dancer? who was the best singer? who did the best impression of coach kubiak or john elway and by the way, the kudos for john elway among executives in the nfl and long time media members who cover the nfl. the things that they are saying about john elway how he has completely reshaped this organization and decided we are going to go to the super bowl now. we are going to win now and we're going to hire the personnel that's necessary. he suddenly is the most popular gm in the nfl, the guy who appears to have this little piece of magic that makes all of this happen. >> 21 out of 22 starting
4:01 pm
under the elway era. so he knows what he wants. he is the mastermind in many ways here, but there are a lot of people in place, a lot of really smart people and a lot of commitment and the way they treated one another that this was a team that was underrated in many ways and they have left the plane as ryan haarer was reporting together as a team sharing that lombardi trophy taking turns holding it which i think they'll be doing a lot in the days ahead, right, ryan? >> reporter: absolutely. it's probably a fight on this plane coming back from san jose as to who got to hold it. we saw everybody kind of taking turns with it. cj anderson and some other players ran by our cameras just a few minutes ago you guys saw holding it up. it seems they haven't lost any energy despite probably not sleeping last night. here's what happens next. they got off their united flights here at dia and they're getting onto all these buses
4:02 pm
good night's sleep, maybe some more parties to go to, but definitely going to be at the parade tomorrow which you guys know we've prepared for all day in terms of how we are going to cover it. it should be a great time there tomorrow. >> we saw a lot of people with their phones out taking pictures of this moment and you got to see it right there firsthand, ryan, but they were all taking pictures and celebrating when they arrived. >> reporter: i don't mind this assignment today at all. what i said earlier, what's out here basically, a couple dozen media folks and a select few united employees and their families who are big broncos fans, everybody showing up in orange, some with their championship gear on and everybody had their phones out as this plane landed, came around, taxied, a water canon was shot over the plane to celebrate and the pilot stuck that big broncos flag out the window and waved it around as the crowd went nuts.
4:03 pm
>> that was great. what a good day to be a united airlines employee i must say. what a great picture from sky 9. we have this marvelous picture of the broncos charter and these half dozen buses standing by to transport everybody back to dove valley. von miller and the team, it was thought to be a pretty special arrival where they're pretty much the heartbeat of the team is, where they feel mr. b's presence every day he said and he thought that was going to be autistic ride going back to dove valley. i'm presuming that's -- a terrific ride going back to dove valley. i'm presuming that's the destination. >> reporter: i believe it is, mark. the broncos improved and while yes, peyton manning is a critical part of this team, they moved forward without him. brock osweiler stepped up. that's why you have your world champion denver broncos today. >> you bet. maturity is the perfect word to
4:04 pm
seen in von miller, a lot of maturity, leadership and somebody that was blessed with incredible talent but all of his talent to put it all together for us. >> here's our water canon moment again, the plane landing and take aim through this special welcome the salute from the dia fire department. this welcome is reserved most specifically for the broncos after a win. that was really a great moment. we love the pilot has been waving the flag out of the cockpit ever since they landed. >> i call it the gatorade moment. all the buses are heading out. they're going to dove valley. that's the area that just think in about five months they'll start training camp. >> yeah, yeah. >> when we all think about our workplace, that is their workplace, a lot of time there and some days the days after these games i'm sure a lot of walking wounded out there. >> that's right. >> many, many, many times after
4:05 pm
you have a very special seat, this picture from sky9 watching this procession as they make their way back to dove valley and by the way, we should mention we have steve staeger standing by at dove valley. i can't imagine there aren't already people standing by. we haven't talked to steve yet. i can't imagine there aren't moment. we'll have steve in our next half hour. >> our thanks to ryan haarer and we know mike klis and rod mackey were with them. they're all heading home and they're heading out to dove valley and it's actually the broncos headquarters and we got exciting things have happened there in the last year, too, because they opened that new indoor field. >> yeah. >> it really changed a lot of things. they talked a lot about that and the need for that, that facility to practice and train in because sometimes the weather isn't just person effect out here. >> that's right.
4:06 pm
certain conditions, the noise alone, we learned a lot from that super bowl in new york and the impact of not being able to hear the calls. >> right. >> and they simulated a lot of noise experiences in that indoor facility as they prepped for every game and every game matters when you're wanting to >> absolutely. another phenomenal picture from sky9 watching these buses make of the airport. a lot of the players were talking about the one thing about the super bowl is it does give you a longer season and how kim is absolutely right. training camp is hard on their homes now and everybody has got to get -- heels now and everybody has got to get well and healthy and get a little you know what? job. >> it is a year-round job. to bring up a nemesis tom brady tweeted and sent out a facebook picture saying two-a-days began again for me. they all start working out. we saw a lot of what todd
4:07 pm
this lifelong friendship since their days in tennessee and they organized a camp so at duke where peyton can start working out and he starts doing this in a couple of months before season starts. >> that's right. they just take a short break and they are off. >> they are off and working out because they have to stay in shape. >> hopefully we see this same picture from sky9 next year. >> right. won't be it great. we'll see great pictures tomorrow because the victory parade will step off at noon tomorrow. it starts at union station, travel down 17th avenue to broadway, then onto broadway passing civic center park. from there it will go west on 13 avenue, north on cherokee street ending at the city and county building. a rally will start there at 1:00 and should last until about 2:30. >> tens of thousands of people are expected. 9news reporter nick mcgill is downtown this afternoon. how is the city and police getting ready for all the fans that are expected with this parade?
4:08 pm
described it to me, mark, as a bit of a marathon and a city representative said the biggest thing for people to expect is to come prepared. come early. be prepared to stay late. be in it for the long haul. let me give you guys a quick breakdown how tomorrow will shape up. the parade will start at 12:00 at 17th and wynkoop eventually making its way back here to civic center park for a team rally with governor hickenlooper, mayor hancock and the players. that's a wrap-up around 2 p.m. now the city of says that this is more of a marathon as i mentioned and not a sprint which is why they stress anyone coming down here to be prepared. right now you're taking a look at the city and county building. you can see them literally setting the stage. they've been out here since about early this morning.
4:09 pm
route are now painted orange and blue, getting ready and excited for this parade. we haven't had any water canon moments here yet, but the excitement is abuzz down here, guys, and we can't wait until the parade. >> absolutely. >> it will be a big day. >> sounds good. just finished up that parade of lights down there. >> that's right. >> you can watch the entire at 10 a.m. we'll stream coverage on 9news.com because some folks actually have to work tomorrow, so they can sneak a peek online. we'll all be downtown with many of our reporters and anchors covering all of the fun. >> can't wait. >> join us. >> it's a neat ticket for all of us, too. of course, weather will be just beautiful just like today, right? meteorologist belen deleon is joining us. actually it might be a little warmer, right, than today? >> yes, ma'am. will still continue with those mostly sunny skies. currently on the western part
