right? meteorologist marty coniglio and amelia earhart are joining us. the wind will take off through the weekend, and today we will have a break, and it will be in the foothills. holding us in the foothills today, 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. the highs in the foothills will be almost the same as yesterday because of the shanook winds still going in the foothills. and every so slightly the metro out to denver. we are now tracking a new snow system, creating rain up in the pacific northwest, and we anticipate that moving down into the state. that will do two things, bring a lot of wind here, saturday night through sunday on the plains, and then it will bring snow into the mountains on sunday afternoon. we could really use fresh snow, and by the end of the day sunday into monday, we are

first come, first serve, and the sanders' campaign is asking online. after the event, sanders is headed to the sheraton hotel where hillary clinton will be as well. they will have a democratic dinner tomorrow night. both will be in colorado just a couple of days after they squared off in the debate, and we know they were there yesterday, and last night, the university of wisconsin, milwaukee, and the candidates covered a range of topics for health care to wall street, and campaign finance reform, and even immigration. this was the first debate since the new hampshire primary, and bernie sanders was hoping to build off his momentum from the win there, and clinton was trying to win back the women voters. she also made it clear that making history is not why she is running for president. >> i think a sanders' victory would be a historical accomplishment as well. >> i'm not asking people to support me because i'm a woman. i'm asking people to support me

at least three people have died from the mosquito-borne virus. 3,000 cases have been reported there since december. several olympic athletes are now considering staying home from rio, brazil because of the health scare. some athletes who plan to start a family soon after the summer games say they will not go to the olympics, and others are saying they will take more precautions to protect themselveses for mosquitoes while they are there. >> a lot of bug spray and wear the right type of clothing. >> it could happen to anyone. i still plan on going. >> one bit of good news, the olympic games are happening during the winter months in brazil, meaning fewer winters overall during that time period. >> it will be interesting to live somewhere where you can have the summer olympics when it's winter because it's that mild. we couldn't do that here. the wood burning restrictions in effect, and we don't have much wind.

great visibilities with haze this afternoon. temperatures not cool, but in the low 50s, and again, we don't have the nice big down sloping wind as we did yesterday. i want to fast forward to tomorrow afternoon, and that's when we are going to start to see some intense wind in and near the foothills, and it will be right all the way to i-25, too. it's a windy afternoon coming up tomorrow, through sunday morning, we could actually see wind gusts between 50 and 80 miles an hour in and near the foothills through the first part of this holiday weekend, and it's a warm wind tomorrow, and it's a chilly wind on sunday, and we will drop down into the 40s, and we will calm the winds down slightly on monday as we move back up into the 50s. all in all, not a bad weekend for the temperatures, but the wind can be pretty annoying. >> marty, thank you. from the school to the park to play dates, many parents

or 5:00 today, and a foggy start today. 40s, 50s to the foothills and north. low to mid-50s for the metro area. again, late in the day, and we will start getting the push of air, and i mean, excuse me, clouds and fog moving into the north eastern colorado, and everyone else is going to stay clear and dry through the day, and mild in the west, and warm in the mountains with the 60s and 40s, and we have progressively cooler temperatures the farther north and east you go. for us today, mid-to lower 50s, partly cloudy conditions tonight, staying fairly mild for this time of the year. bare in -- bear in mind, our average low is below 20 degrees. extremely windy tomorrow night through sunday, and we will cool off, and then a sharp warmup from presidents' day through the middle of next week. so far amelia, it looks like we
