into temporary housing for children isn't easy. federal officials said they would have the facility complete in just a few months. now they're saying it won't be finished at all. the mayor of lakewood isn't surprised. >> i thought that their timeline was very ambitious. i didn't think that they were taking into account all the costs that would be involved to convert that. >> reporter: the federal government said mayor paul was right. the department of health and human services announced there isn't enough time or money to make this a safehaven. >> that's been the hang-up all along, trying to get them to answer questions and produce information in a timely and effective minor. >> reporter: the agency didn't go into details, just said in the end this facility wasn't the best use of federal >> it was disappointing because denver has a very strong history of caring for immigrants. >> reporter: advocates like rudy gonzalez says undocumented minors could have benefited from coming to colorado.

miles per hour. as we go throughout the overnight period and tomorrow, they could peak by morning in the 40 mile per hour range from estes park into nederland. tomorrow evening around 10:00, that's when the winds really ramp up. areas around timberline could see speeds around 70, 75. a couple of spots, golden, arvada, denver in the 30-40 mile per hour range. a little bit of snow just behind them. some clouds drifting into eastern colorado by tomorrow morning. the i-25 corridor stuck with the clouds. by midday, some clearing, a little blue sky. and tomorrow evening we'll look for mostly clear conditions before some of that snow starts to reach the northern and central mountains along the i-75 corridor by noon. the snowfall doesn't look all that impressive.
