martin wirth. police say wirth came out onto the deck and then went back inside. officers followed wirth into the home and that's when he started shooting. corporal nate carrigan was shot and died at the scene. master patrol deputy kolby martin was hit multiple times and is in critical condition. a bullet grazed the ear of captain mark hancock. he was treated and released from the hospital. yesterday, authorities asked the public to keep victims in their thoughts. last night, the community of bailey gathered at park county community church to remember community of bailey gathered at park county community church to remember corporal nate carrigan. about 100 people showed up including football players from platte canyon high school where carrigan was an assistant coach. some people wrote messages and prayers on big pieces of paper posted to the church walls. we are learning more about the man

tarhonda-- he was also involved in a murder case in the 90s. that's right, gary. here's the headline from the newspaper when martin wirth "got off" on that charge. he'd shot a man after a chess game-- but was aquitted of the crime. in that case, wirth argued "self defense." since then, the 58- year-old had more interactions with the law. twice, he was arrested for d-u-i. in january, he lead jefferson county sheriff's deputies on a chase. that same month-- park county deputies ticketed him for eluding a police officer, having no insurance and "driving under restraint." wirth took to social media to express "anti- police" sentiments. he posted a video on his facebook page calling for a so-called "rage against police to achieve peace." people who'd protested with wirth in the past say he was involved in their causes against the government, capitalism and police. wirth also joined with so-called "foreclosure resistance activists." he tried to fight his own foreclosure by suing fannie mae in 20-13. he lost that lawsuit.

about 180-thousand dollars. right now - the emerald ash borer is present in boulder. plans are in the works to transform the denver performing arts complex. city leaders would like to create an urban hub where people live, work, and play 24 hours a day -- not just come down for a show or concert at night. the post reports that some of the ideas include tearing down the boetcher concert hall and building a smaller venue at 14th & arapahoe. and buiding a few residential towers that would house no price tag yet -- preliminary. economy is taking a than-expected downturn in the energy sector. early jobs numbers that we received last month county gained jobs last year. but revisions to those numbers now project the area lost 500 jobs during that time period. this is not unexpected...it's just taken longer to show up in the reports.
