there have been back-to-back el ninos before. but there's precedent for that, at this point though, they're not sure which direction it's going go in. >> we all want answers and we have so much data out there but still we just don't know what's going to happen. >> and that's because there are so many factors involved with weather. el nino is one of them. but like you heard in the piece, there's a lot of stuff involved with this. >> so many different models, thank you so much maya. senator bernie sanders is making a stop in fort collins tonight ahead of colorado's caucuses tuesday. his supporters began filling up csu's arena about an hour ago. the rally begins around 7:00 tonight and we will have more from the campaign trail in the next half hour. plus, early polls from three key super tuesday states. colorado state patrol is trying to identify a woman hit and killed overnight along i-25 and johnstown. it happened around 3:00 a.m. according to investigators, she was hit by an suv while walking on the left shoulder of the highway. she died at the scene.

a really nice night. if you have any evening plans league jacket. should do you just fine. as far as the winds go, up and down the i-25 corridor, relatively quiet and calm. up to the foothills you're going to start to notice the wind speeds increasing as the overnight period goes on. tomorrow morning you bake up and there it -- wake up and there it is. 7:00, 8:00 some spots like allenspark ian desmondly picking up -- easily picking up 40, 50-mile-per-hour speeds as this next storm system and the next cold front approaches from the northwest. this is become pretty routine around here. with these gusty winds and these storms that just barely graze us by. without really delivering a whole lot of precipitation. our cold front from yesterday scooting off to the east. another one pushing in from the north and to the west. but really for the next 24 hours, it should be pretty quiet around here. no wet weather the deal with and just a few increasing clouds. right now on hd doppler 9 a little bit of rain pushing into the chicago area. some snowfall wrapping around parts of the great lakes and then around the pacific northwest, some rainfall. like i mentioned right across the coastline in washington and some rainfall around the inland

light snowfall kind of mixed in. that's the storm that we're going to be watching pushing into colorado over the next 24, 36, 48 hours. but by 6:00 tomorrow morning, you only notice the difference is just going on the this deck of clouds that start streaming in. by about lunchtime. that's whenwell see the powder pushing into the northern and central mountains and right now not all that impressive but if you are going to be driving along i-70 up to the high country might be a little messy midday. the storm system is going to be fairly fast though. as it shifts that cold front through and it will knock down our temperatures by just a couple of degrees. kick up the winds and then by about 3:00, 4:00 we might actually find a couple of rain showers along the northeastern plains and i really wouldn't get your hopes up in the denver metro area for a lot. by tomorrow evening a couple of flurry here's and there but overall, the moisture is staying in the high country. and then possibly just a little bit along the eastern plains. right now snow forecast, northern and central mountains i'm going one to three and one to four tops.
