this is the third violent crime involving a craigslist ad since the beginning of the year. you'll remember last march denelle lane lured a mom to her home and stole an unborn baby. four students are recovering this morning after a shooting in of a school in ohio. police say that a student opened fire inside the school's cafeteria monday morning. two students were shot, two others were hurt from shrapnel. the 14-year-old shooter ran from the school and dropped the weapon but was taken into custody. police say there is a motive but they aren't discussing it at the moment. she was gunned down on her first day on the job. today a virginia police officer named ashley guindon will be laid to rest. police officers and cars escorted her body to the chapel last night. her funeral will be at noon.

officers were responding to a domestic violence call. all three was shot. bernie sanders was up early this morning casting his vote in his home state of vermont. after voting he shook hands with supporters and took pictures. we have new numbers in showing donald trump hitting a new high heading into super tuesday. nbc news poll indicates trump's lead is nearly 2-1 above marco rubio in second place. ted cruz comes in third followed by ben carson and john kasich. the poll shows the democratic race is closer. hillary clinton is leading with 51% compared to bernie sanders 41%. colorado is preparing for super tuesday. we join about a dozen other states with primaries or caucuses today. there's something different about the way one party will operate here in colorado. 9news

with more. one party isn't selecting a winner. >> reporter: no. the republican party won't declare a statewide winner. no matter who people caucus for there's not a republican winner declared in colorado. the state party made that decision. gop caucus goers will still debate and choose delegates to go to the convention. there won't be any statewide results to report. that's why you haven't seen any republican candidates spending money on tv ads here in colorado. you have seen the democratic candidates advertise here. that's because for them there are some headlines to be grabbed when a winner is named. while experts think the republicans will see smaller caucus numbers, the race between hillary clinton and bernie sanders could draw larger democratic caucus crowds. now both caucuses begin at 7:00 tonight. those caucuses are on open to people registered with their party. you can find more information on where to caucus on 9news.com. >> thank you. >> bernie sanders is going to host a caucus watch party

wednesday afternoon low humidity, high winds, warm temperatures, fire weather watch in effect for the entire eastern colorado plains. we have fire problems right now don't we? >> we do. we're going to go live up to sky 9. they're flying over what's reported as a trailer fire around colfax and i-225 in aurora. we just saw police arrive on scene. flashing lights arriving. there's people walking close to this trailer. we're not sure if there's anyone still inside. we just saw two people walking underneath that over hanging area close to one of the doors to the trailer. the flames are shooting out oh ing -- the top of the roof here. sky 9 just arrived. we don't know if anyone has been injured in this fire or if there are still people inside. we'll have more details on this coming up. obviously an incredible sight to see here. we certainly hope the best. >> yeah, that's a big fire. >> certainly we hope everyone is out.

state. not all of colorado. we'll get a few very light snow showers mainly in mountain areas along and west of the day today. checking out our forecast through the day today, we're looking at just a little bit of high cloud activity in and around the state through the afternoon today. so as we go through the afternoon today we are looking at just a couple of state. again, dry conditions about 99% of colorado will -- colorado. throughout the east mountains and west uniform temperatures. a few high clouds over the front range. very light snow. even into those few places that get it, half an inch at most. 50s and 60s here. windy in the foothills today. windy over all of eastern

there again are those really small snow showers, most of the mountain valleys dry today. you'll see the little coverings of snow up on the ridge lines but not down in the valleys. 40s and 50s from buena vista to the south. high clouds for us, upper 50s to almost 60 degrees. tonight the wind stays up for us. temperatures in the upper 30s. tomorrow mid 60s. we'll stay warm and dry right into this weekend. in fact, temperatures just go up as we head into the weekend. >> that's amazing. marty, thank you. 6 :17. some more money news. attorney general attorney general's attorney general said the state legislation can convert the hospital provider fee into an enterprise fund. that's confusing. it could boost tax money that's available for road improvements as well as education across the state.

still over this decision. democrats who favor the idea and republicans opposing it might hammer out some sort of compromise. a federal judge in new york city ruling that the government cannot force apple to hack an iphone to investigate a drug dealer. apple is being pressured by federal law enforcement agencies around the country to help it break into 13 iphones. the company is fighting all of these cases saying it would undermind the security feature. on a call with reporters an apple senior executive said they will help lawful request. apple just iphone and ipad. according to a lot of reports out there, apple will make these product debuts on march 21st. the long rumored 4 inch iphone se is said to have a faster chip and the new ipad pro will have a 9.7 inch screen and a handful of other new

reportedly on the way as well. let's head back out to amelia who is keeping an eye on breaking news for us. going back to that breaking news news, this is the trailer fire, the mobile home fire excuse me off colfax and 225 in aurora. you can see so much smoke coming from this mobile home. when he saw it first it was fully engulfed in flames. fire crews are there now trying to get it put out. sky 9 is over it. we have a crew that's head ed to that location right now. we don't know if there was anyone inside at the time.

we take you back to sky 9. progress. this is smoke coming from a mobile home at 225 and colfax. just about 10 or 15 minutes ago tremendous flames coming out of the windows. firefighters there had been working on it for the last 15 or 20 minutes. >> it was so tough to get that nothing else caught on fire there.

coming out of that mobile home right now. this started about a half an hour or so ago. fire crews got on scene very fast. they were able to put out the flames. we don't know if anyone was inside at the time. they worked so fast it didn't spread to other mobile homes in the area. this is what it looked like 30 minutes ago from sky 9. fire crews were there and worked hard to get the flames out. we're working to get you more information. we have a crew headed there as well. once we get that information we'll pass it along. it's 6:31. a man is recovering in the hospital this morning after getting hit by a vehicle in fort collins. it happened last night on college avenue near spring park drive. 9news reporter noel brennan joins us from medical center of the rockies in loveland with the latest on the investigation. noel. >> reporter: good morning, gary.

was taken to the hospital with fort collins police actually found him lying in the middle of the southbound 11:30. they saw his bike and his backpack leaning against a planter box off the road near by. we had injuries consistent with getting someone getting hit by a vehicle. we know there was the scene while police were maybe it was a witness who saw what happened. at this point fort collins police is not released any suspect information, any vehicle description for that matter either. so they're asking anyone who might have information to give them a call. that number is 970-416-2224. the man who was injured has been identified as 53-year-old george taylor. once again, he was taken to the hospital here, guys. medical center of the rockies. at last check he had

rush ed over here. thank you, noel. this week is shaping up to be reminiscent of last week, a lot of warm spring-like temperatures and sunshine. let's go out to marty coniglio in the backyard. it's still bone dry. >> reporter: it is around here. we have a high fire damage to -- danger today and tomorrow. we have a weak, weak disturbance moving through utah that's going to bring some clouds into the state off and on during the course of the day. very light snow showers, mainly on a few ridge lines in the northern and central mountains of colorado and down into the valleys. we're generally looking at half an inch of snow or less in those snow today. so most of the around here. going through the rest of the morning we'll be pushing mid 30s to close to 50 degrees from now until 10:00 a.m. across the state quite a few clouds in central colorado but still relatively mild through the day.

melting snow pack. in october researchers found the area still at risk for a big landslide. geology experts say the technology to detect early signs of landslides isn't available yet. it's 6:35. the first super tuesday primary votes are counted in and in. they are from new zealand. american voters living in wellington, new zealand voted just after midnight, early tuesday local time. bernie sanders carried the day with 21 votes. hillary clinton had 6 votes. wellington is the first of 111 cities in 41 cities outside the u.s. to cast ballots for the primary for the democrats abroad. republicans living over seas will not be able to do the same. the gop doesn't have a way for its supporters to vote in primaries. today is the biggest day so far for the presidential hopefuls. they are hoping to win delegates in this super tuesday contest. colorado one

will be casting voting in a caucus. 9news reporter tarhonda thomas has more. t only one party will declare a winner tonight. >> reporter: that's right. only a democratic winner will come out of colorado. the colorado republican party decided it won't select a statewide winner. the democratic candidates are purring hard for winning in colorado. bernie sanders is hoping to win his home state of vermont. we have video of him casting his vote in that state's primary just about an hour ago. while states like vermont are holding primaries others like colorado are holding caucuses. those caucuses are an in person experience more like a neighborhood meeting. colorado's democratic will select a winner in our state. hillary clinton and bernie sanders are in a closer than expected race. a new nbc poll out today shows clinton with 51% of the vote. on the republican side donald trump still hoedz a strong lead with 40% of the likely vote among those surveyed. marco rubio came away with 21%.

stocks did fall yesterday with the nasdaq and the s&p posting the third straight monthly decline. the first time that happened since 2011. the dow with the first gain since november. was january's lackluster a blip or start of a slow down? the jobs report should offer insight into whether or not the economy is ready to rebound. manufacturing has been a problem now. low oil price have prompted a slow down. that picture did not brighten in february. employers added 151,000 jobs but that's down from an average of 279,000 a month in the fourth quarter. sports authority talking about selling stores and some property to rival dick's

still preparing to file for bankruptcy. sports authority was one of the largest sporting goods retailer in this country but struggling under the weight of $643 million or so in debt. bicyclists now have the option to ride between denver and boulder. the final section of the new bolder turnpike bikeway, a new 18 mile path opens today. the first section opened last june. it's taken 4 years to complete. while the path opens today there's still some construction, some minor construction, in some places but it's pretty much ready to use. it's another day ahead with the threat of wild fires. winds plus dry grass plus fire meant fire crews had to work fast yesterday afternoon at alameda at havana. that's feet away from busy streets and homes. more than 2 acres burned but

it spread to any houses. alameda was shut down for an hour for smoke and to give firefighters room to work. one firefighter was treated for a leg injury and is back home this morning. we are just so dry, marty and staying that way this week. >> it is. tomorrow is going to be a critical day for us. today we move close to 60 degrees. most of the wind stay ins the foothills during the day today. i'm going to fast forward here into tonight. wind stronger in the foothills, very strong in wyoming. tomorrow during the morning the wind shifts out over the eastern plains, virtually all of eastern colorado with an extremely windy day tomorrow with humidity levels diving into the teens and low 20s for the afternoon tomorrow. fire weather watch from the base of the foothills until kansas. we could see gusts from 50 miles per hour. humidity below 15%. that's borderline extreme fire behavior possible over the plains including the denver area coming up tomorrow.

take a look at the impact to the 225 commute. parker road a 23 miles per hour drive. our southbound trek from 70 also sluggish. that's going to kick off at the 70 split. this afternoon we're looking at sunshine that will be filtered with a few high clouds with 50s and low 60s in the lower terrain. we will see some clouds in the mountain valleys and just really light snow showers over the high terrain. if you're already planning your weekend temperatures will be in the mid 60s to near 70 degrees. the wind will stay up over the weekend. we're not going to have beautifully calm conditions like last week. it is 6:47 now. nato's chief said the cease fire in syria is largely holding right now. he made the comments in a visit to kuwait on monday. the cease fire is now in its fourth day. it was brokered by the

a vote will be held today on a resolution imposing tough new sanctions against north korea at the u.n. in response to the rocket test and rocket launch it would require every u.n. member to expect all cargo heading to and from north korea for goods. check out this video. an out of control car slams into a gas pump in texas bumping another car out of the way. the pump immediately caught fire as people from both cars ran away from the flames. firefighters put that fire out. police are still trying to figure out why the driver lost control. >> that's scary. 6:48. auto makers report ing their february sales numbers today and this could be the strongest february for the industry in about 16 years. of course continued strong demand for trucks and suvs amid low gas prices are helping pump all this along. auto makers are increasing incentives right now. that's really good news for buyers. of course it eats into their profits. meantime, prices

the drive has been very quiet accident wise. not only do we have an issue with the fire out to the east side we also have two separate crashes northbound 225, one alameda avenue, one closer to 6th avenue and then because of this the curiosity delay with the fire near colfax and 225 is still causing back ups there. the smoke visible from 225. we're seeing speeds in the low 20s as you approach that area of town. we have some new information to share about that fire. some good news to report that the aurora fire rescue team is now saying that nobody was hurt in this fire. that is what is left of the mobile home. what's most challenging about what they've been doing the last 40 minutes or is you see the close proximity of the other mobile homes in the community at 225 and colfax. you can see what it looked like when they arrived. they were able to keep it isolated to this one mobile
