minutes aurora put out an alert for four young children. ms. morgan left her home with her daughter before 3:00 this afternoon and she has made threats to harm herself and her daughters ages 9, 7, 3 and 1 years old. nakia was driving a van with qfz981 license plates. it had a yellow stick other back of we have details on 9news.com. >> an iron man is dead after she was struck in boulder. it happened during the cycling portion of the race. colorado officials have not released specifics. the iron man officials say we are saddened observe the death

barrel visible through the fog but it did eventually burn off as the day warmed up. after a few days of sort of chilly temperatures it is feeling more like summer. >> the heat is back christine. with a vennian as we start off the work week. the daytime highs climbing to the 90s. brace yourself. still this afternoon i have thunderstorms out there in the mountains. you can see from one of the cameras in breckenridge. the showers beginning to come down in downtown denver a mix of the sun and clouds. it is a nice afternoon with you kind of humid. a the sticky. the storms from the southwest and we do have a pocket of showers across the san juans and a couple of lightning strikes to the south of georgetown and frisco and fair play and another batch moving to douglas county. the thunderstorms staying to the south of i-70.

a couple severe. temperatures 87 in the metro and close to 90s out there in lamar and upper 70s in buena vista and gunnison and 91 at grand junction. in denver for the month of august, four days of above average and three below. the 70s felt any. a nice little cool off but the heat returns. we will say hello to the 90s very shortly once again i will track the isolated storms not only this evenbu the school week too. but if your a fan of the fall- like temperatures christine. i have another round of a few more showers and a good little cool off. >> i took the pup for a run and she wasn't having it. a little different from a days ago. congress should return to washington senator sureman says to take up emergency funding to

jeopardized unless lawmakers in the recess early and approve a 1. 9 billion dollar emergency funding bill. florida is ground zero for the virus in the u.s. where millions have been spent to combat zika and the sunshine state needs federal help. >> i have allocated $26.2 millions for the state funding. and the feds need to become a partner. i ask on friday or on thursday when i met with the centers asked for 10,000 more zika preparedness kids. we need the federal government to show up. the president and congress has to work together. it is an international issue. >> congress is not supposed to return until september. they would only have to return a day to approve the funding.

to watch so they were disappointed but they certainly understood. if we can make it as fair as possible and also if it is not safe you want to protect the athletes. the athletes for us, it is important. they must have it to the best of their ability. >> the storm also close the down the mega store for a while because it is covered with a tarp. it is like a huge tank and it was causing trouble for the outside tennat >> hard to hit the balls when they are flying out of the stadium because of the wind. the forecast for tomorrow and the next day doesn't look that great. the wind lighting up social media. this is some of the stuff we saw a social media. just all sorts of people tweeting about it. the wind getting the attention of all sorts of folks at the beach volleyball venues and wild winds of rio knocking

if you are a competitor. >> a lot of the sand blowing around on coco cabana beach and i was trying to wonder what volleyball and archery would be, very challenging to say the least. we had a chance, christine, to walk behind the swimming venue where the artwork was fluttering in the wind. they have removed entire panels of structure. five if they can repair or rehang it. >> it is artwork by a brazilian artist commissioned to do the outside of the structure and they were going to sell some of the stuff off at the end of the olympics but now parts of it are missing and even if they want to hang it up i don't know. >> despite that, this is the place to be. michael phelps warming up with kathy ladecky. we think will be gold medals

do you know what they will do with the events that were canceled. how do they fit that into the schedule. >> reporter: weather ahead of times they know it can be a factor so they have time slots to change things in. it will change for athletes that are rigorous in nutrition but th d weather is always a variable at the winter or summer olympics. russia will not be able to compete in next month's pair olympics in rio. the committee banned all russian olympians. there was state sponsored doping across the system. several committees call for russian to be tossed out.

summer. a special bear rescue is celebrating 20 years. taking orphan bear cubs and back to health and after that they are released back to the wild. in an effort to better track the progress they are going to collar the cubs. >> the project specifically is to collar bears le 2015, 2016 and possibly 2017 and track them to get an idea about their overall survival. >> the next step of the project is a series of cameras that will allow curators to monitor the bears more closely as they get used to the new environment. >> the fog that we saw this morning, it burned off pretty quickly and it is getting toasty out there.

i am seeing wild flower power. just stunning. once you get there do hiking. it was hot around the metro in the 80s and longmont 93 degrees. at the airport 87 and clouds with the winds out of the east at 13 miles per hour and in our backyard temperatures toasty at thunderstorms pushing in. in the san juans the thunderstorms pushing into the north of durango and to the north of telluride. we do have have tropical moisture pushing back in the state and we will be looking at a lot of water in a short amount of time. to the west of the metro. the showers kicking up in winterpark and breckenridge and teller county moving towards douglas county and towards the castle rock within the next

winds along with the wet weather. wind gusts around 32 miles per hour in watkins and in the foot hills 10 to 20 miles per hour and they should be dying down when the storms die down. tonight down to 61, a few showers possible the rest of the night and in the 60s for far eastern colorado and with the 40s and low 50s in the mountains. thunderstorms continue their move to the southeast about ten p.m. and done in denver and with mostly cloudy conditions. by tomorrow, a couple of showers firing up to the west. once again tapping to the monsoon. we are dry across the i-25 corridor and the eastern plains stuck under the thick of it. more clouds and fog for you. by four or five p.m. the showers potentially popping up in the metro. i would say areas to the south have a good shot at seeing a couple those and the chance for seeing storms severe basically in northern colorado and parts of wyoming and nebraska.

economic issues. trump, the businessman will give an economic speech tomorrow. clinton will give her own version on thursday. but clinton has trust issues with voters. a poll out sunday shows 59 percent don't see her as honest or trustworthy although 62% say the same about trump. clinton's running mate says it comes from the email controversy. >> she made a mistake and she said i have made a mistake >> most polls showed clinton ahead of trump by 8 or 9 points but that comes after donald trump's fight with a moslem family of a u.s. soldier. trump is hoping for a boost with that speech by tapping into voters that believe that he can improve the u.s. economy. disney is building a stone wall around the lake at walt disney world. the barrier wall is part of the

this wall is going up along the beaches of the 7 seas lagoon. the park also put out new warning signs and ropes after a boy was graves was dragged by an alligator. the family will not be suing disney. an unknown substance was found in a party in san francisco. injuries. the victim reported heart palpitations and shortness of breath. one leaving the party says there was a foamy type substance coming from the mouth. police ruled out a hazmet situation and say a water melon candy substance could be to blame. the incident is currently under investigation. the islamic state group claimed responsibility for a weakened machete attack that

pushing through. tomorrow in the 80s and 70s in grand lake, frisco and aspen and tapping into the monsoon areas to the west of the continental divide have the best shot of seeing the storms. so far this year 38 days in the 90s. tomorrow another one and you know the average as far as 90s, 41. >> we're knocking on the back door that have one. and it looks like we might actually take it. >> 90s for the next couple of days. 94 degrees on tuesday. i think the storms primarily stay in the mountains. it should be dry here on wednesday. overall anyway. and then we will be watching the next storm system push through on thursday and friday. temperatures cooling off significantly. so i know a lot of folks are saying no, we kind of like that little taste of fall. you get another one. we will be watching for isolated storms for the start of next week. look at that, back to the 90s and summer is holding on and plenty more days to enjoy the summer heat.

maura abbot thought she had today's olympic road race won. but with a finish line in sight was passed by three cyclists working together and she finished in 4th by four seconds. said abbot afterwards, i rode it to the max. i got to 200 meters and thought oh, my god this is going to happen. and then they passed me. worse finish there is. one place away from rough finish for martin truex, jr. nascar racer made a move to win it at the end but instead got hit on his end. brad keselowski spun him out before the line. the number 78 finished 8th. denny hamlin won the race and after race truex, jr. had choice words for keselowski. said it was his fault and i said i knew that. simple as that. it is all good. just hard racing. i just wanted him to know i
