at least 100 flights nation-wide today... as the airline tries to recover from were canceled monday.... ... and tens of thousands of passengers were left stranded. delta says a power outage in atlanta caused the system-wide failure. the airline put out a statement saying critical systems didn't switch over to the backup.

providing electricity to delta says the problem was delta's equipment- not the power outage. in the next half hour- we'll hear from delta's c-e-o and more on the airline's plans to make things right for stranded passengers. your ballot could look very different come november. eight more initiatives are in the approval process... including ones looking at local fracking and oil and gas development. 9news reporter colleen ferreira joins us. colleen - colorado voters always have something to say about these two topics. gary - they sure do... but now it's in the hands of the the secretary of state. their office has until sept. 7 to verify signatures and determine whether these initiatives qualify for the ballot. lets first talk about local fracking control - that's initiative no. 75. if this passes in november...local cities and counties would be able to ban or delay oil and natural gas exploration, drilling, producing and processing. currently... cities and counties aren't

restrictive than the state's laws. next is initiative no. 78 - this proposal would amend the colorado constitution to require any new oil or gas facility be located at least 25 hundred feet from occupied structures, waterways or areas of concern. current setbacks for oil and gas are 500 feet from a home and one thousand feet from a "high- occupancy building" like a schools, prisons and daycares. gary - hard to believe we are exactly three months away from election day. here's a look at some of what you'll have to decide on for sure in november: a universal healthcare program called "colorado care." a ban on slavery or indentured service for inmates. and a change to property taxes for a handful of small businesses using government property. in the next half hour- we'll take a closer look at another proposal- to overhaul colorado's

might see on the ballot in about three months. a babysitter-- and the two little girls she was caring for-- have all drowned. it happened at the swimming pool of a mobile home community in pueblo. there's never a lifeguard on duty at the pool. police officers and witnesses tried c- p-r but couldn't save them. the girls were ages three and five. the babysitter was 17 years old. a mom made the decision to leave her three and five year old kids and now she'll spend ten days in jail for the burns they got in a fire after she left. rocio reyes pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury... back in september- a fire started in her home while she was gone. firefighters had to rescue the kids from the burning home. after her ten days in jail--reyes will be on probation for four years. we now know more about a bicyclist who died trying to complete the

investigators say-- she was not within the marked course when the crash happened. colorado state patrol says the woman swerved out of the race lane and into traffic. it happened along highway 36 north sunday- so cars were probably moving pretty fast. c-s-p says 34-year- old michelle walterswas sideswiped and fell. then a truck's back tire hit her. walter's was from nebraska this is the second year in a row someone has died during the boulder race. we're getting a look this morning- at the person the f-b-i thinks robbed a bank in thornton last week. the images aren't great- but search teams are hoping someone will recognize this man anyway. surveillance cameras recorded the robbery at the wells fargo on grant street a week ago. the f-b-i says the suspect was not armed. the picture is a little blurry - but if you recognize him and have any information - you can call denver metro crime stoppers. the number is 720- 913-stop. you don't have to give your name, you could

public schools might have noticed some problems recently- using the parent portal. that's the online system. parents can use it to register their kids for school. we checked on it for you... ... and d-p-s says they're working on it. any parent with issues can call the parent portal hotline number on your screen. we're told some parents accounts were deleted-- if they haven't used them in a year. other parents are reporting issues after they logged in.. d-p-s is working with the vendor to figure out why. the seven kingdoms are coming to denver.

the 59 year old is currently serving a 14 year prison sentence for corruption. blagojevich has already served four years in prison... but five of the original corruption charges against him were thrown out on appeal last year. he'll appear in the chicago courtroom via closed circuit television from here in colorado where's he's serving time. the parents of two americans killed in the 20-12 terrorist attack in benghazi-- are suing hillary clinton. they say the presidential candidate's use of a private email server contributed to the attack on the u-s diplomatic facilities. they also say clinton defamed them in public statements. no official connection has ever been made between clinton's emails and the benghazi attack. but the benghazi lawsuit says it was "highly probable" she used the server-- while sending or receiving emails about u-s ambassador chris stevens.

trump is struggling to get his campaign on track. trump is slipping in the most recent polls... and now a new round of republicans are rejecting him. republican senator wrote a washington post op-ed saying trump lacks the "temperament, self-discipline and judgement" to be president. 50 republican national security experts say they won't vote for trump. a monmouth university national poll puts him 13 points behind hillary clinton. trump heads to north carolina today.

broncos cornerback aqib talib will be ready to play for the regular season opener- if he's not in jail. talib returned to the practice field monday- two months after he was shot in the leg in a dallas nightclub. talib either got shot by somebody else--or accidentally shot himself. whichever it is--he's not telling anyone and police are investigating.
