this is 9 news. >> oh it is another bad day to take the train. the a line has been down since just after 10:00 this morning. rtd blames the damaged power wire from stopping the train from the station to dia. passengers had to be bused to the airport and a new b line was down for a while. and that's now back up and running. no word yet when the a line is running again. >> it is a strange folks in the burbs getting to a station means you have to drive and you might as well drive. the city of centennial has partnered with lyft for a six month period to give folks free rides to and from the drag creek h td station. hopes to entice them to use the rtd. xerox has an app for commuters

centennial will unveil the app next week. >> a forme university of colorado student convicted of rape will not spend anytime in prison. according to the daily cameron. austin wilkerson was sentenced to two years of work or school release and 20 years to life of beige. he was convicted earlier this year an sexually assaulting a female student that had too much to drink. he told her friends he would take care of her at a st. patrick's day in 2014. the charges carried up to 12 years in prison. but the judge ultimately decided the sentence. >> i see a lot of talk about da didn't do this and that. they had no choice. fda would have to decide. >> it is unfortunate that the dea is lagging so far behind on the science and the public opinion. >> the drug enforcement administration is not

announcement next in sports. thousands of crashes caused by road debris. a factor in more than 200,000 police reported crashes from 2011 to 2014. the crashes resulted in 39,000 injuries and deaths. most of the debris comes from drivers not securing the loads and triple a is causing on drivers to help prevent accidents. >> the big point for drivers is that these crashes are preventable if they take the ne maintaining the vehicles. >> in colorado. if something falls out of your car you can pay between a $3500 fine if it injuries someone it is a class 2 misdemeanor that includes a $300 fine or 90 days in jail. >> in addition to the athletes at the summer olympics. colorado has sent other representatives to make sure the games go shootly. our 9 news team cheryl preheim

everybody wondering about the perseid meteor showers, we will see them when it peaks at moon set at 1:02 a.m. skies do look like they may clear between one and four a.m. up to 200 meteors per hour is the potential late tonight and tomorrow. this night, a brief sprinkle and thunder and lightning and the rain has stopped just as soon as it has started. temperatures in mid-80s. beautiful at the loveland ski actually 89 degrees. a little bit cooler then the 90s. winds east at 8 and calm winds in the backyard and rain coming to an end in the downtown area. tracking showers in the foothills and not holding

and a cool front coming. across the gulf coast region with the system that spins moving towards the west bringing heavy rain from jacksonville and memphis and in the houston area where the rain shield will continue inland tomorrow. tropical monsoons continue from el paso and tomorrow is a smidge dryer. the front dropping south will usher in a cooler air mass. we do expect afternoon showers an in the low 80s. hot south to the east of us and the storms tonight. isolated in nature and then we clear out. notice by 10:00, it is mostly cloudy and after midnight we get clearing skies between one and 4:30. so decent opportunity to see the perseid meteor showers, cloudy in the southeast plains and a sunny start to your day tomorrow and storms by two and in the city and not a rain out
