6:30, finally move out into kansas. for us today, the temperatures are in the 50s. and you really feel that nice cool air. into the lower 80s, in the afternoon today, and i am really thinking, as far as thunderstorms go, we are not going to see much around here. even during the evening, when you're driving home, you will probably see some storms down along monument hill, but in the immediate metro area, it it just looks like a calm dry friday. and amelia, the front came through, and really stabilized things today. >> yes, and what a the highs only in the 80s. that will be a nice change. sky 9 is now over the crash that we mentioned in the 5:00 hour. along i-25. near highway 52. and this is not a part of the breaking news from earlier this morning where we had an i-25 closure. this is a new crash on the frontage road near 52 on i-25. and both directions of the frontage road blocked but i-25 is getting through just fine. i-25, the highway is your alternate route. let's take a look at the rest of the morning commute, where we have problems along i-25

6:08 am
>> ? >> every day, for ma matter, we caught the samba welcoming crew. >> they are dancing to the music in the park, singing with a great start to the day. having a lot of fun. they were lucky they were dancing before it started pouring just for sure. and we couldn't help but jump in and join them. and learn universal lane of pointing, the fun, the venue, that is that way. >> that's where you got to go because everyone is smiling and having a good time. >> we thought the message would be a slight bit different. matt, where are the rain slickers? >> over there. >> and can we find any umbrellas? >> some place drive? corey? >> i think we better look over this way. 6:11 am
so not a lot of water to work with for us. and high pressure to the west, that will limit our thunderstorm development, around here. over the weekend. and currently, over 300,000 acres of wildfires burning in the west. and 35,000-acre beaver creek fire. bullet with recent rain, and the way -- but with recent rain and the way the upper air pattern is going, we are not surfing with any problems with air quality out of that. the air looks great. and skies are nice and blue and i think they stay that way most of the day. >> good way to fini well, it is a long summer for football fans and our broncos did not disappoint in the first game of the football season, preseason football, since the super bowl, the reigning champs, they definitely made a statement. >> i would say they did. >> it was a great first preseason game. but are we any closer to knowing who the starting quarterback will be on september 8? we will look into that coming up. >> everyone wants to know. and the united states has been pretty unstoppable in rio this week. we continue to lead in overall medals and gold medals.
