-- a 200-acre friday broke out. this was just 7 acres yesterday afternoon. by last night it was 150 and overnight it grew to 200 acres. strong winds helped fuel this fire. evacuation orders were put in place for residents along wallace creek. a helicopter and two tanker engines made regular water drops. one structure has burned. no word on what this fire. a birds eye view of a fire. sky 9 flew over the fire. a tractor-trailer cut a line around the fire and it's a good thing he did. the fire was stopped before it reached homes. >> hopefully we'll have less strong winds. good morning, 7:01. let's check of our forecast with our meteorologist linda. >> good morning. the stronger winds we do experience, they're

uncle rape and murder teresa in 2005. he was 16 year old then. his important attorneys argue attorney -- he had nothing to worry about by confessing. his constitutional rights were violated. investigators in fort collins released this sketch of a man they believe tried to sexually assault somebody. the victim was leaving the old town area on remington street in the middle of she told police a man walked up to her and started a conversation. when the situation turned dangerous, she ran. this man caught up with her and tried to sexually assault this victim and she was able to fight him off. if you know who this is or who it could be, please call fort collins police. questions this morning on whether a little girl who drowned in a little pool could have been saved. we have more.

year old girl who drowned -- arapahoe county officials will not pursue charges. the mother faces charges including child abuse. arapahoe county investigators say they're trying to figure out how long that 7 year old was in the water before she was found. the mother of the girl told deputies she left her daughter unattended because she needed to quote step away. arapahoe county sheriff's office says no one knew the 7 year old was in the pool until neighbors heard cries for help from her sister. tailor rushed outside to see the little girl faced down in the pool. another neighbor came out and started cpr. >> she was screaming that her sister was in the pool, her sister is in the pool and i hope she's okay and she'll be able to come around. that was my main concern. >> the little did not make it. the girl's mother was arrested on suspicion of child abuse resulting in her daughter's death. but she was later

says at this time, they're choosing not to file charges. in the information center, veshgs, nna, 9 news. the fire chief in eagle and his wife are accused of stealing thousands of dollars from another city. fire chief -- he was the fire chief in sterling from 2009 until april of this year. he and his wife hope are accused of stealing $125,000 from that city. the city noticed red flags when keeping didn't add up. when investigators started asking questioned -- he said money started coming in and they used it to pay for personal stuff and appliances and a bicycle. swimming will wrap up tonight during the rio olympics. boy has the u.s. swim team has been great.

thank you belen. some parent in jefferson county are having their kids tested after getting alarming e-mails of lead in some of the water. it's coming back higher than the federal levels allowed. several lead was found in classroom sinks. jeffco system says 90% are below federal standards. a sink at red rock elementary came back 246 higher than what the government allows. the district says the high levels were found in sinks rarely used. world news in the fight against isis. u.s. rebels have been fighting to gain control of a city in northern syria taken

the flooding in louisiana is so intense, officials say it's the biggest downpour that the state has seen in 500 years. more rain is in the forecast. crews rescued dozens stranded by waist-high flood waters and numerous rivers. southeast louisiana is overflowing. east baton rouge, a 68-year old man was killed when he slipped and fell into a ditch. many were left without power. emergency. giant tarps are being installed to help prevent glaciers from melting. italian researchers decided to use special plastic tarps to prevent the shrinking of a glacier on the border between tran tin know and switzerland. they say this can reduce the sun by 90%. the glacier rise up to 10 % -- the tarp covers 100,000 square feet. locals say the glacier started

numerous charges. it's a case made famous through netflix documentary making a murderer -- following the trial of two men convicted of murder in wisconsin. this week, some incredible developments could set them free. brandon dassey ate to helping his uncle rape and murder teresa. the judge said investigators made false promises to dassey and assured him he had nothing to worry about by confessing. the judge decided that dassey constitutional right were violated. back in colorado, investigators in fort collins released this sketch of a man they believed trying to sexually assault somebody. the victim was leaving the old town area in remington street on august 6th. she told police the man walked

no water coming out. to fix it, we first checked to see what direction the sprinkler head needed to spray. most sprinklers will measure this in degrees. if you want water to come out all of the edges of the sprinkler, then select one that sprays 360 degrees. we only wanted one that came out half, so 180 is what we selected. >> before w sprinkler head out, carefully dig out small chunks of grass that surrounds the sprinkler head. you'll put these back when you're done. unscrew the old sprinkler head making sure no dirt, and rocks get in the line and replace it with the new one. cheek it for a couple of things. first, make sure that the new sprinkler head isn't too tall. second, turn the water back on and make sure it works.

welcome back, everybody. we're following breaking news out of lakewood this morning. lakewood police say that lakewood and sheridan is safe. they're looking for a man with active warrants and they tracked that person down around 4:30 this morning. whoever the law enforcement agency was that responded, believe the suspect pulled out a gun and that's when law enforcement shot that man. he was taken to the hospital. we know that for sure. we're working on getting more information on this story, but that area is safe right now. >> again, this is a man that investigators were pursuing because he had seven warrants out. there's a police presence there at the intersection will
