the gun was supposed to have blanks in it and the officer is on administrative leave while the investigation goes on. >> 6:21 right now. new york police arrested a man who killed an imam and his assistant near a mosque saturday afternoon. this is video of 35-year-old oscar morale being escorted out of the new york city police department. they originally arrested him for a hit-and-run. he faces charges of second- degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. police said they recovered a revolver at his ho found clothe that looked like clothes the shooter wore. the crime was capture on surveillance video. both men were shot as they left the mosque. a curfew in milwaukee seems to be working. it was a calmer night and people are cautiously optimistic after protests turned violent this weekend. it was a reactions to a black police officer killing a black man on saturday. dozens of police lined the streets overnight. six people were arrested monday night but that's nothing like

in flood waters in louisiana. a man's body was found in front of a baton rouge library. he died from accidental drowning. more than 20,000 people have been rescued from their homes in baton rouge and 11,000 are staying in shelters. a man in california is waking up, accused of starting a devastating wildfire. 40-year-old damon pashulk faces arson for starting the clayton fire near sacramento, causing more than $10,00 destroyed more than 175 homes. authorities suspect he started numerous fires over the last year. look at the frightening sight at the beaver creek fire near and. the heat can create their own wind and weather. that's exactly what happened as fire swirled into the sky, creating a firenado. it was started in mid-june and burned more than 36,000 hayer.

monsoon continues to focus in the midwest. we have one small disturbance moving into southwestern colorado. that will be enough to create some thunderstorms later in the afternoon and extreme southwestern colorado. it will build in and chance of rain are smaller then centennial into castle rock. 87 is your average high and we'll be close to that. this will track across the

with damp, cloudy, rainy, august day. we have problems on 70 near evergreen, sky 9 flyings over the eastbound direction of i- 70, temporarily shut down. cars spun around in all directions and looks like an ambulance, fire truck, tow truck on scene, heavy damage. there's fluid across the road, i-70 temporarily closed eastbound heading evergreen near chief hosa. we'll track this. this could mean huge delays coming out of the high country so plan ahead. we'll get your alternates in a few minutes to see exactly where the closure extends and where traffic is being detoured. sky 9 arrived 30 seconds ago so we're learning a lot more about the crash now that we can

a california bound amtrak train hit and killed five members of the miller family and they were on their way to church when they were hit. a fire started at sunset southeast of agate and fruto more than 2,000 acres. firefighters were brought in to put it out. they were successful and heading home this morning. talking about smaller chances of storms the next several days with cooler weather for this weekend. that's especially saturday afternoon, saturday evening, and through a good bit of sunday with temperatures into the 60s and 70. by the way, it may be a damp night for the broncos/49ers saturday night. that game, of course, on channel 20. we will warm up a little bit next week but not all that
