the hayden pass fire burn scar in fremont county was hit with flooding last night. county road 40 was closed because of mud and water across the road. locals can get in and out, but that's about it. the sheriff's office posted the pictures to their facebook showing the damage. people who live in the area say they are thankful they don't have to face this alone. >> everybody is willing to help a neighbor. you'll probably see that he hadding somebody else before -- see that helping somebody that's just a huge, huge blessing to have up here. >> there are no reports of homes with major damage at this point. the number of dead continues to rise in central italy. workers are trying to find survivors in the aftermath of a 6.2 6.2 magnitude earthquake

>> the professor says because the earthquakes were so far apart geographically, they probably were not related. many myanmar the earthquake registered 6.8 and killed at least four people. at least one person dead, 20 others hurt after an attack on american university in afghanistan in kabul. gunmen attacked the university with explosives and gunfire. it started around 6:30 p.m. local time. officials say security forces are still combing the area searching for attackers. no one has claim the responsibility. islamic militant groups have recently claimed a string of attacks aimed at destabilizing the country and toppling the western backed government. dozens of people are living in shelters after the denver international youth hostel was shut down tuesday in violation

tom hannah made her take off her clothes and toughed her inappropriately at his house and threatened her with prison time if she told anyone and gave her $60. he said he put $20 on the inmate's jail account because he had a big heart. sexual misconduct in a correctional institute, solicitation and official misconduct are the charges. a judge set bond for hannah at a quarter million dollars an monitor. we have more on 9news.com about the case. a suspect who led boulder police on a manhunt lasting over eight hours is in custody recovering from a head wound. officers arrested russell daniels this morning. he fired four shots at officers last night and took off. police closed several streets overnight to look for him. it appears he shot himself at some point. daniels has a long criminal

its schools. in a memo sent to teachers lead testing started this week to span over the next few weeks sampling drinking fountains, kitchen food prep and lounge and other water used in the schools. last week high levels of lead were found in drinking fountains and sinks in the district. the testing so far shows most lead. a reminder not to play pokemon go while working, especially if you're on duty. last wednesday the commerce city training officers were caught using their apps on the job. friday the officers were taken off training duty. the spokeswoman says the officers did not lose their jobs. last week the department of justice launched a review into the commerce city police department after two officers

severe weather has caused major damage in indiana in the central part of the state. a starbucks was flattened at a local mall. a large tornado was reported on power lines. a tornado watch remains in effect there until 9:00 tonight. so the few showers we had earlier today, maybe we should be grateful. >> it's all about perspective. the sun is finally out for the first time all day and it feels good because it's breezy and brisk in the 9news backyard. we've held in the 60s most of the afternoon.

we're seeing all this moisture increase from the south to the north and off to the east where we're dealing with severe weather. the threat for tornadoes is around cincinnati and st. louis, heavy, hail producing thunderstorms in wichita and omaha. we'll see strongest storms, who will pull them over and set up over colorado and the midwest. where it sill be warmer is severe weather tomorrow. you have mid-70s in denver and mid-90s in tulsa, so right along that line is where we'll see some of the strongest storms form. we'll have clearing later on tonight, should have some sunshine tomorrow, low clouds and fog on the far eastern plains and moisture over the higher terrain and a line of storms public over denver between 3:00 and 6:00 tomorrow.
