alongside corey. jessica oh has the latest. jessica? >> reporter: ryan, the investigation is ongoing but just a terrible story out of conifer. we decided to come out here to report this story instead because it looked like a lot of family members gathered in light of what happened. it was around 7:00 monday, yesterday evening, when police said a mom and her son -- were in the home and the pit bulls attacked the woman. he tried to pull them off his mother but was unsuccessful. by time he called 911 and authorities got there, his mother passed away. those two dogs were running around the home by the time they got there and said they were acting aggressively. they were taken in for

pretty nice day and not so bad this evening also. >> yep, looks like by first pitch. thank you. boulder canyon road was shut down because of falling boulders. they fell around mile markers 32 and 33 and the road stayed close for two hours. state patrol said one car hit a bowledder and the persons inside had minor injuries. the road is back open. >> good news it didn't hit @ car. we lucked out there. we're taking a look at the i-70 drive near harlan, temporarily shut down due to a crash where an suv went on the shoulder and the embankment was belonged and crews made quick work of the situation and harland is back open, i-70 was never affected by the crash. we have a couple of incidents taking place including side

14th avenue and close to speer, and cherry creek downtown, a slight curiosity delay. mississippi and broadway, we had that full closure from 7:00 p.m. and this will go on throughout the week and promises to be a pretty big delay south of i-75. corey? >> amelia thank you. he has a long road ahead of him. isaiah was severely injured a car crash, crash police said was suspensional. tarhonda thomas has the story that has a lot of people in disbelief and the dad is accused of trying to kill his son. the dad is in jail >> he's charged with attempted first-degree murder and other cries. as little isaiah played in a park, his dad thought-ways to kill him. the crash is the plan he came up with, according to police. he crashed his car going 75

own seatbelt but purposely did not buckle isaiah. the toddler ripped a muscle in his neck, injured his head and his knee, and as if those injuries were not enough, after of the crash, he hit his son. the 29-year-old father told police he wanted to kill the boy because he didn't think he was man enough to raise a child. police said he had taken cocaine that day. isaiah's mother is shocked by all of this. she's not married to the man but said they planned the nancy lopez can't believe her son's father would do something so cruel to his own son. >> understand why -- -- how he could do something like this, but -- i'm hoping that isaiah recovers fast and that people pray for us and for my son to get better. >> donors have already given

gofundme account for recovery. some people pulling hardest for him are witness in the crash. they actually helped get the child out of the car. we'll hear about that hat 7:00. >> it's wonderful witnesses came to the aid, but i can't imagine what they're still going through to this day after seeing what they saw. >> seeing that and seeing him apparently hit his son. the witness say it was just horrifying. >> a terrible story. tarhonda, thank you. ryan? a man facing charges for an assault on the highline canal trail may another attack at the same place. brookheart is accused of attacking a woman on the trail. the woman managed to snap a photo, which would help police track him down. according to a police report, he got into a fight with the woman, he said, when her dog tried to bite him. he faces charges of second- degree assault. another assault happened on the trail a week ago. police are looking into whether he had anything to do with that

denver in later than they hoped monday night. their flight from albuquerque was delayed more than three hours after someone noticed a suspicious item in the cabins. passengers were evacuated and the plane was moved to a remote area on the airport property. a spokesperson didn't know what the item was but was deemed safe. d.i.a. is dealing with its own problems this morning. a united airlines employee is being accused of stealing someone's jewelry at the airport. rafael magano was supposed to behind by a passenger from aspen. airport cameras caught him taking stuff out of it, including diamond earrings, bracelets, and shiny, expensive things worth $129,000. when magano was confronted, he confessed and faces felony theft charges. after a stormy afternoon and evening, very quiet beginning to the day around here. we had some of the bigger

and evacuations underway in parts of japan where a typhoon is expected to make landfall today. the storm has reported wind gusts over 100 miles per hour as it turns through the pacific ocean. businesses are shutting down for the day including toyota, that which suspended production at two plants. the typhoon is expected to downgrade to a tropical storm by the time it makes landfall but should bring more than a foot of rain tomorrow. closer to home, north carolina's bracing for its own the waves will really crash in the outer banks yesterday where the storm's center is expected to pass by today. emergency management officials said there's an increasing number of calls about rip currents, no talks of evacuation yet but officials are keeping an eye on the storm. hawaii's big island is on hurricane watch as hurricane madeline inches closer. it reached category 4 strength on monday. marty, when does it look like the storm will hit land?

tomorrow, corey. we have the category 4 storm -- this is a major hurricane, 130- mile-per-hour sustained winds. fortunately, the water gets cooler further west towards the hawaii island chains but as it brushes island, 100 miles per hour, it looks like it will north and west. thunderstorms are going to stay to our east for the most part, a couple of light shower in mountain areas and partly cloudy conditions here most of the day. during the evening, spotty, light showers, measurab chance of rain, mid-60s.

colorado and then through the center of the state from summit county to leadville through navies that, salida, lake city, and creed through the day where you will see pocket of moderate to heavy rain. we're inbetween those two systems so we have very light showers anticipated, hot out west, mild in the mountains with 60s and 70s, 70s to near 80 and will get rained out. high terrain thursday and warm, dry start want evening storm possible friday and saturday.

combat in iraq but told doctor he suffered post-traumatic stress syndrome. doctor diagnosed gavin long in 2011 with an adjustment disorder with depressed mood. he told doctor he is was suffering from ptsd after he was shown graphic video of dead bodies. the military veteran shot and killed three officer and wound three others outside a convenience store. he posted videos calling for violence in response to raleigh police identified those involved in a shooting that killed a man and wounded an officer. 24-year-old terry was killed in the altercation and burleson was shot in leg. a second officer was there when shot requesters fired, but details of who fired are not available. all officers are on administrative leave.

a scary medical emergency turn into an unexpected miracle for a utah couple. williams checked in to the hospital after a series of seizures after doctors ov causing seizures. she was eight months pregnant. she gave birth to a healthy, though 1-month premature little girl. the couple was caught by surprise. >> never had sickness or felt her stomach move. we're typically the people that make fun of those people. >> so many people -- how do you not know? usual from 58th avenue and closer to eighth avenue, sixth avenue, i have been checking to see if we can see flashing light from the sixth avenue corridor eastbound towards i- 25. can't spot them here but traffic is just a breeze both directions near the santa fe split and with the possibility of the crash, speeds are just fine, less than 15 minute from downtown to the tech. we have word of a new accident, again, eastbound sixth avenue leading to you come out towards the drive leading out of golden, as well as lakewood, but looks like we have a new crash possibly across 70 near chamberses so we'll check that and get you the update in a few minutes. >> amelia thank you. a woman from conniver is dead after being attacked by two dogs. investigators think it was her

her son was also hurt in the attack. >> reporter: he was hurt in this attack but the injuries are not life-threat and was taken to swedish hospital and around 7:00, police said the pit bulls started attacking the mother and the son tried to pull the dogs off his mom but was unsuccessful by the injuries. it took animal control 30 minutes to wrangle these dogs and officials said they did a great job, considering they were acting aggressively. >> the challenge thing is not

eventually police arrested a 17- year-old from denver, booked for investigation of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run. police really need your help, saying another car, a black sedan, and that driver may have been involved and were a lot of witnesses. if you saw someone driving. one side you have a neighbor and another side, businesses, could have surveillance video that could help pinpoint and track the moments leadg to the hit-and-run sunday night. hopefully someone saw something. a nurse accused of inappropriately touching women in his care face three counts

debated. he faces charges in another county and nebraska. he denied charges. marijuana clubs won't come to denver, at least not this year. a proposal allowing clubs for people 21 and over to smoke pot failed to make ball will the because didn't have enough signatures. a second proposal allowing some marijuana use at bar and restaurants still await word on where it got enough signatures to go before a vote. two proposed ballot measures, changing how oil and gas is regulated, failed to get on the ballot because some signatures could have been forged. one would have required gas wells at least 2500 feet from home and school in colorado. the other would have given local governments oversight on oil and gas developments. the secretary of state said some signatures were too similar. we talked to the signature gather who said homeless people forged the signatures. denver fire investigators

caused a fire in east warren drive on monday. two people had to be rescued and taken to the hospital. we don't know how badly they were injured. it was wet here monday but nothing like what people dealt with in colorado springs. this is a rescue in the middle of a street, car covered in water and hail up to its window. they have stayed busy. could they see more severe weather? it will be quiet today and we have had hail and heavy rain and snow around 14,000 feet. we have had several inches of new snow the last couple of days above 14,000 feet and light showers now.
