over. it happened in the west texas town of alpine, texas. and that is where that situation was unfolding. a shooter came into a high school with a gun earlier this morning. now, the shooter is dead. and two other people are injured. now, that's according to the nbc station in el paso, texas. the bruster county sheriff's office says it was a girl who went to the school who was the shooter. she has died gunshot wound. another student was also shot. that student was shot and taken to the hospital. and an officer was shot in the leg. schools in alpine, texas, were locked down while the police searched for that shooter. the school district's website says the town of about 5900 residents has 3 schools, alpine is 220 miles southeast of el paso, again, active shooter, they're saying it was a girl who went to the school and she has

earlier this morning, possibly not here, but certainly out on the eastern plain, we had some very dense fog. the dense fog advisory has lifted, but still some fog in the area, burlington, where the visibility is down to 2.5 miles. rain is out of the state, over kansas. we're not expecting any rain from the western slope to the eastern plains today. in fact, denver, fort collins, and greeley, aren't under the general thunderstorm risk; on the eastern plains where we have the humidity, some of the fog. and then any risk midwest, stretching up through the northeast. we're at 80 now here in the city, 84 at dia, 79 in greeley, 75 for fort collins, 60s and 70s in the foothills. we'll be climbing quickly, up to 83 at 2:00. 84 at 3:00, upper 80s by 4:00 p.m. but you can see there, a lot and lot and lots of sunshine. that sunshine should be great for folks who are out and about, perhaps early or even if you're

lochte is required to forfeit $100,000 in prize money, part of the penalty for his drunken encounter at a gas station in brazil. the u.s. olympic committee and usa swimming, announced those penalties today. lochte agreed to a ban that includes next year's world championships. he'll get no monthly funding from either organization. he cannot access training centers and me must hours of community service. he'll also miss team usa's post olympic trip to the white house. ouch, big punishment. the university of colorado boulder police department needs your help to solve a sex crime that happened over the weekend. they're trying to identify this man. he's wanted for unlawful sexual contact, this happened sunday in the pedestrian underpass at broadway and college avenue. take a good look at this guy. the victim told the police that

around the denver metro area. and up through fort collins, fort collins, a little bit hazy. it looks like those are grass hoppers in front of the camera lens, they're having fun on a 84 degrees right now here in denver, fort collins, cooler at 72. it's 77 in greeley, we've got 60s and 70s on the eastern plains, and a mixture of 60s and 70s in the mountains, here outside in the 9 backyard, mostly sunny skies. beautiful calm winds, we're sitting at quickly today does promise to be a warm day. and a dry one, stretching from the western slope to the eastern plain, all of the rain is to the east, over kansas. the big concern around our region today is the fire danger. a red flag warning is in effect until 8:00 tonight for central and southern wyoming. it extends into jackson county and northern colorado there, and that warning is in effect until 7:00 tonight. wind gusts will be out of the

hour, relative humidity, very low, so the fire danger will be very high in these areas. let's talk specifically about those winds. we're not expecting much here in the front range, this afternoon, they are going to be much more gusty, from the foothills on up to our northern mountains. 20-30 mile an hour gusts possible there, a little bit of a break overnight, and then they increase again as we get into early tomorrow morning. tomorrow, some slight changes, today, pretty darn dry acrossth if we get anything, it's an isolated rain shower out near burlington, we've had the fog, since early this morning, a lot more moisture available. everybody else is dry. clouds will begin to build into our eastern plains early tomorrow morning, while denver, castle rock, fort collins and greeley stay dry. and then tomorrow afternoon, we are cooler. why? our upper level pattern changes. the jet stream dips right over colorado friday afternoon.
