responded to the arrest saying we have been made aware of some allegations brought forward involving a board member. however, we do not have any details on the situation. we are allowing the appropriate law enforcement agency to handle this matter. we recognize there are allegations and as such we will not speculate as to the facts of the situation. bishaw will be in court next week. there has been a mrs. trial in the case against a man accused of killing a single mother who lived a double life as a jurors in grand junction deliberated all week trying to reach a decision in the case against lester jones accused of kidnapping and killing paige burkefield. he was one of the last people to call her before she disappeared in 2007. her remains were not found until five years later. jones' defense team said investigators had no physical evidence tying him to the death. nine of the 12 jurors believed jones was guilty. some of them talked about the

for what he feels is right and he wants other players to actively do something in their community. the obama administration is asking the company working on the dakota access pipeline to voluntarily pause construction of the project in north dakota. the request came after a federal judge denied a request by the standing rock sioux triangle. they asked the court to temporarily stop -- tribe. they asked the court to temporarily stop construction on the pipeline. federal authorities want to review permitting for the dakota access pipeline. the tribe joed of native americans from across the country has held protests at standing rock against that pipeline. the pipeline would run more than 1,000 miles from north dakota to illinois and cross the missouri river. the tribe says it will damage their water supply and violate several federal laws including the national historic preservation act. the douglas county sheriff says quick actions by s.w.a.t. medics saved the life of one of the department's detectives. around 2:30 in the afternoon

wife called the douglas county sheriff's office. she was concerned for him and said he was suicidal. when deputies responded, they were greet the with gunfire and detective dan brite was shot. five officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect who was eventually shot and killed. this morning at a press conference the douglas county sheriff tony spurlock said quick actions of s.w.a.t. medics saved brite's life. brite's brother spoke and thanked the complaint for the outpouring of donations. brite is still in critical condition. doctors are optimistic -- community for the outpouring of support and donations. brite is still in critical condition. doctors are optimistic for a recovery. cell phone video shows this man crawling out of the vehicle as it hangs off the side of a parking garage in austin, texas. the 24-year-old man somehow lost control and plunged off the ninth floor of a garage. his vehicle got tangled with a wire which prevented it from falling to the ground.

investigation and a series of bizarre events. paula woodward followed it from the start and wrote a book. our 9news reporter kim christiansen talked with her about a case that many consider unsolvable. >> reporter: the death of a child defies understandable. the murder of a child leads to cries for justice. the world learned of the death of jonbenet ramsey nearly 20 years ago. a 6-year-old girl killed in her home in boulder, colorado. the call came in as a there was a ransom note and her body was found in a little used room in the basement of her home, bizarre and within a week all over the national news. >> it blew up when pageant people started selling their videos to the networks. boulder police did not have a homicide department. >> reporter: in the entire year of 1996 this was the only homicide in boulder and the investigation was troubled from the start.

the show must go on and it did tonight after the phantom of the opera performance was forced to be canceled last night in denver. last night the cast was ready, the audience was ready in their seat. however, the main set had technical difficulties. attempts to fix the problems did not work and the performance had to be canceled. since it is a national tour there will not be an extra show

sunday. things are now working normally and receipt a manning shows will go on as -- the remaining shows will go on as scheduled. tomorrow the hanging lake trail will be closed. the popularity of that trail is causing some problems, too. work will be done tomorrow to put in new chains and barriers to keep people out of the sensitive habitat at spouting rock behind hanging lake. volunteers will also work on graffiti left on ra places along the trail in rocks that are just covered in that graffiti. nearly 130,000 people make the 1.2-mile climb each year. for those who might be out checking out the leaves, be aware loveland pass will be closed tomorrow. after a decade of planning the nation's highest triathlon will take place in summit county at lake dillon before a 56-mile bike ride to montezuma and

they were gusty today when the front pushed through. tonight in the backyard all is well. the winds have quieted down and our temperatures sitting in the low 50s tonight. on hd doppler 9 you won't see much, at least here in colorado. that was a dry cold front that pushed through, not the case for our friends to the east. the central plains picking up on that severe weather as that front is just bombarding them through parts of omaha, wichita and even the st. louis area, a couple inches falling in wichita, severe thunderstorm warnings to the south oklahoma. so they're the ones that are going to be in the line tonight. mid-40s in the city tonight, winds backing off and tomorrow morning frosty in some spots, especially northern colorado, the eastern plains, 38 in sterling, low 30s in frisco, 25 for the grand lake area and northwestern colorado sitting under a freeze warning until
