this weekend's weather looks perfect. >> absolutely. looks generally dry on sunday. we may see a few showers saturday afternoon, but i don't think they're going to interfere much with anybody's activities. today it is a cool start. it will feel drier to you as you head out the house. we had thunderstorms -- late in the afternoon. this is scott whitaker's view looking to the east. we had some big storms on the eastern plains yesterday afternoon and evening. this morning it is cooler. it is drier. temperatures moving into the 40s and 50s by the time you wrap up this morning's rush hour. we had into the low 70s today. and while there's a chance for a height shower or thundershower this afternoon, anything that forms will be weak and affect a very small number of locations around here today. and i hope to get them out of here by 7:00 tonight,

rising tonight at 7:17. as we've been talking about, it will have a little color to it. . marricsne clark -- with this shot. anywhere from the denver area west through park county and up north. i think you're going to have some pretty nice viewing over the weekend. unfortunately and accident al pedestrian. intersection closed at federal and jewel, and the driver did stick around. the pedestrian did get sent to hospital with serious juries being reported. that intersection is still closed. between asberry and colorado and federal, that area of roadway is closed. expect it to be open within the hour. we're going to continue to monitor that situation here. as for the rest of the metro

relatively calm, relatively quiet as with wait for that sun to come up. it's 5:01 this morning. two colorado men who lost their lives fighting isis will finally get a proper burial. vutt,r bona is here. there's going to be a special ceremony. >> yeah. this morning, that special ceremony that is for the return is planned at -- the families of the two men killed get to be buried by their loved once. the bodies returned to colorado this morning. the two men were killed while fighting along curdish forces in syria earlier this year. shirley ann mctag earth were not part of the u.s. military. they went to help fight isis on their own. he had gone overseas to fight isis once before. his family said it was back in february of 2015. when he came back months later,

overseas again. they told nbc news they were unaware he returned to fight in syria. isis fighters engaged a remote controlled iet. shirley died in july. both were flown from serious to chicago on wednesday morning. this morning, their bodies were burial. we will be at the special ceremony for the return. it's at you know station. we'll have much more live. >> glad you're going to be there. thank you. today legacy high school students, teachers, even rivals were show their strength on and off the football field. three of their football combs are still recovering from a deadly bus crash. a bus driver crashed the school bus sunday at dia.

and three coaches were on board on their way home from playing in california. the bus driver died. two of the coaches are recovering from injuries at home ted. coach matt kutka is still in the hospital. legacy students showed their support this week, using the hash tag legacy strong. other schools also took the time to show support, including prairie view. westminster high also reached out with dessert. they brought cakes that "football equals family" and "legacy strong." the game is at 7:00. the blue angels pilot who died in a fiery crash in tennessee might have been at fault for the crash. jeff kutz did in june. according to the crash report, he was flying too fast and too hoe near nashville. the report blames pilot error. the report also cites fatigue and weather as contributing factors. koos was from durango.

can't be choosers, but thieves can." denver police are warning four truck drivers that criminals have a specific affinity for those kind of trucks. so far this year, more of the full-size models have been stolen than in all of last year. the national insurance crime bureau says, across the country, ford trucks were the most stolen model haste year. advance pierce from north land said he thieves got his car in full daylight last weekend. >> keys were in my pocket. i don't know how they got there's no evidence of broken glass. so they must've shimmied it or something to got into the truck, so this is terrible. >> denver police are trying to figure out why the ford trucks have become so popular among thieves. to keep their car from being stolen, police recommend something more basic than a car alarm. they say something as simple as a wheel lock helps prevent vehicles from being stolen. the city of aurora will be the latest place to start out -- planes.

over the next few days, crews will install the lanes -- that section ofmont view is also getting repaved. monview will still have two driving lanes, but parking along the street will be eliminated. denver and boulder tried adding additional bike lanes recently. boulder city leaders faced backlash in some areas when driving lanes were eliminated to handle more bike traffic. today colorado space industry is taking another big step. three companies worked ge high-resolution commercial imaging satellite. digital globe, lockheed marten, and united launch alliance are inviting people to watch the launch today. the launch is happening at the vannenburg air force base in california. the party will include hands-on activities for students. events start at 11:45, open to the public, and

some other teams -- thanks if part to that super bowl 50 win. that kind of helps. that still doesn't put the team in the nfl's ten most valuable teams. according to forbes's most recent numbers, the browns are worth under $2 and a half billion. then the new york giant, the buffalo bills the least valuable. too. i don't want to diss the yankees. that was interesting. for us this evening, looking at some light showers this evening, and then clearing skies through the rest of the night tonight. here in the weather center, what we've been track being morning are the storms that started in eastern colorado yesterday, and are now moving through kansas and nebraska. it has been a really busy night to our east. they've had some flash flooding around omaha, in nebraska with heavy thunderstorms there.

one or two small areas of thundershowers late this afternoon, 4:30 to about 6. not a lot of rain out of these, but, please, always be careful of lightning. if you can hear thunder, you are in an area where lightning can strike. temperatures will be down from yesterday, in the lower 70s here with 50s and 60s in the foothill. statewide most of the storms are going to be within about 50 to a hundred miles of i-25 on either side, from north to south right on down through south park and into valley. not a tremendous amount of rain. not looking for any severe weather either during the day today with large hail or anything of that nature. 70s here, close to 80 down south and out west with 50s and 60s in the mountains. we'll go 03, sun this morning. really nice. and then just 1 or 2 small areas of rain. we go clear. harvest moon comes up after 7:00 tonight.
