20th avenue and huron street. they are not releasing 90 information about the suspect. there is a new conference going on at this moment. the situation is ongoing, they aren't saying why they responded to that area, we do not have any reports of any officers injured. we all are learning this may have started as a home invasion. streets that were closed earlier, huron between -- is now reopened. we are told also that the suspected home invasion is dead. again, an officer-involved shooting. police are asking people to avoid that area in westminster. the fbi calls her the wicked wig of the west bandit. she usually wears a wig and sunglasses and wig when -- wig and sunglasses when she robs a bank. nick mcgill has more. >> reporter: as far as unusual

woman's may be the most literal. >> she continually is striking banks and getting away with money. >> reporter: for the fifth time in less than a month, federal authorities say this woman has robbed five banks. now they are asking for the public's help to catch her. >> she threatens, she tells them, i have a gun. even though she has never shown it, that doesn't mean she is not going to and she is not going to use it. >> reporter: deborah sherman with the fbi's denver division says their investigation shows the wicked wig bandit filed the same pattern every time she has robbed first she obviously wears a wig. that part you could have guessed but she also targets the same type of banks over and over again, focusing on locations either inside an albertsons or safeway grocery store. and the fbi says that's not the only unusual thing about her. >> she is a woman. that's very rare to see a female bank robbery. in colorado i would say we see it maybe one to 2% of the time. nationwide it might be 7% of the time. >> reporter: the bureau got reports of the bandit robbing

lookalike. sherman says that's troubling because it could mean the wicked wig bandit is inspiring copycats. >> as long as everybody in the community is helping us look out for women wearing wigs robbing banks, she should be okay. >> wells fargo is offering a reward of up to $5000 in addition to the $2000 offered by crimestoppers for any tips that lea??9d to the wicked wig bandit's arrest. anyone with information can call anonymously 720-913-stop. a stretch of the diagonal highway had to be closed for several hours this afternoon after a tanker truck overturned causing a haz-mat spill. the northbound lanes closed from jay road to 63rd street around lunchtime. the highway reopened within just the last half hour or so. there are no reports of any serious injuries. no word yet on what caused this wreck. a fire that burned an entire apartment building in arapahoe county believed to

several people who live at hunters run won't be able to go home for a long time. cunningham fire says the 24 unit building on east yale avenue is likely a total loss after yesterday's two alarm blaze. residents and firefighters treated for breathing in too much smoke are doing better today. fire investigators haven't been able to figure out how that juniper bush caught fire. they say the cause will be listed as undetermined and the scene has been turned over to the property manager. some items in the building appear to be sal salvagable. the the owner is coordinating efforts to get those items back to the owners. putting a few residents up in hotels tonight. insurance is going up for hundreds of thousands of coloradans next year. for some it is a major increase. it impacts anyone who goes to the state exchange for individual insurance plans. those who don't have an insurance plans through an employer. insurers say they are losing money so some are leaving the market or cutting their plans.

20% but if you live on the western slope or eastern plains it could go up as much as 40%. 92,000 people must find new coverage next year because their insurance company simply opted out. we have an update to a story from last month that includes details about the death of a woman in jefferson county who was killed by her family's dogs. susan shawl was found unresponsive in august on her property in conifer. 9news today ta the jefferson county coroner determined she was mauled to death. the sheriff's office says no charges will be recommended against her son who was the owner of one of the dogs. investigators told 9news shawl had the dogs on her property since they were puppies. it's unclear what led to the attack. both dogs have been euthanized. three people have been injured in a crash along us-6

a runaway truck -- the truck overturned on the runway truck ramp coming down this way from loveland pass. one of the three people hurt taken to summit medical center with significant injury. the highway was closed in both directions this morning. the search for a -- briefly shut down el dorado canyon state park. rescue workers found an abandoned 2012 honda suv in the creek this morning. had it gone about hundre down a steep embankment. the 32-year-old man was from superior. the only person in the suv when it crashed, he was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated. no word on the cause. it has been a gorgeous but overall dry september across much of the state. according to the u.s. drought monitor about 1/4 of the state is dry including the front range and northwestern sections of colorado.

different story. 9news reporter maya rodriguez joins us with more details. >> released a new report which takes a look at how reservoirs are doing across the state and what they found is we are in pretty good shape for now. >> reporter: on a warm september day, getting across boulder creek is more like child's play, or dog play. >> this time of year is the time of year where river flows year round. >> reporter: begin taking a closer look at what's left. >> i think the report is reflective of the fact we need to pay attention all the time so water and the condition of water around the state. >> reporter: this month things look pretty good, according to the state's water availability task force. it's all thanks to more rainfall than normal in august in most of colorado, leaving reservoirs across the state with an average of 7% more water than they normally have

el nino is not over and not quite clear if la ni?a brings drier conditions to colorado. so we will have to wait if that will actually happen or not. right now we are in a neutral pattern. >> some people forget we are a semi aired climate here. >> we have a growing population too so we have that. >> indeed. thank you. denver has two powerball winners as a result of saturday night's drawing. they are a brother and sister who played the same numbers at both came forward monday morning to claim their prizes. the brother, who recently moved to colorado from vietnam won $50,000 by matching four numbers in the powerball. his sister pulled in $200,000 by matching the same numbers because she paid $1 for the power play multiplier. a lot of people going to go by that multiplier now. she hand selected the winning numbers. >> i've never seen anything like it. i have seen the same winner coming in twice in one week but

kellog is recalling about 10,000 cases of its eggo nutri gain whole wheat waffles because could be con name witted -- contaminated with listeria. it learned about the potential problem through routine tests. count packs with used by dates of november 21st and november 22nd, 2017 were sold in 25 states. kmart locations in thorton and craig are among 64 additional stores in 28 states that the struggling retail chain plans to close because of lagging sales. sears holdings, which owns sears and kmart, notified employees of the closure on friday. the stores that are closing will begin liquidation sales on

hello. welcome back, i'm chief meteorologist kathy sabine out in a very cloudy but very warm don't mind the cloud cover and the clouds bringing rain in the high country. so very pretty. travel really not affected on i- 70 and those traveling the peak to peak highway greeted with a glorious view of the changing leaves today. we did touch 90 at dia this afternoon, 96 in the lamar area and 79 in eagle today. and we are still cloudy in denver, travel just fine on i- 25, you're waiting dinner on

time. 87 at the airport, tender, dry humidity at 10%. here in the 9 back yard the winds picking up a bit with 85 degrees in the city and in the 9 back yard. if you look west all of that moisture trying to push into colorado is the remnant of hurricane paine, extensive high and midlevel cloud cover for our state. system continues to move inland. right now a tropical some beneficial rain for drought ravaged southern california, arizona, even portions of utah. southern mountains may get in a little bit of this activity here and there may be snow up high when a weak front to the north interacts with this in the next 46 to 48 hours. tomorrow we have a mostly cloudy start to your day. all of the moisture feeding in from the southwest and the cool air staying north of us for now. in the mid-80s tomorrow with the coolest air to the north and the warmest air through the
