blue skies out here, a little bit gusty, in those south/southwesterly winds, they are pushing temperatures up, into here for the denver metro area. and take a live look outside, lots of blue. the flags actually looking pretty calm right now. every once in a while we have a gust that pushes through. and look at the gusts we are seeing around the front range, and 30 mile-an-hour wind gusts at centennial, and 36 at d.i.a., and with 20 to 30 mile- an-hour gusts even out to the west. 63 miles an hour gusts right now berthoud pass. and 47 mile-an-hour gusts around loveland pass. those winds may especially be

dry it is along and east of i- 25 as well. hence the red flag warning in effect until 8:00 p.m. today that includes denver, includes limon, and goes all the way south along i-25 down and even into kim. and 45 mile-an-hour gusts, out of the south/southwest, combined with relative humidity, between 10 and 15%, means fire danger will be extremely high in those areas you saw shaded in pink. wind gusts are expected to stay strong all the way through this afternoon. tonight, they will die the eastern plains. they push temperatures up quite a bit. 85 right now out at d.i.a. but 75 in greeley. 69 in fort collins. with mid to upper 80s on the eastern plains. here in the 9 news backyard, a couple of wind gusts every now and then. mostly sunny skies. we are sitting at 80. so we are a little bit cooler than d.i.a. and we do have some rain that is showing up just off to our west, very isolated. and it is going to continue to track east, and possibly

with clouds, and too dry for the rain to hit the ground, and then regenerate on the eastern plains with the strong winds, from lime tonight east. that's where we have more humidity. so there are the showers. they will continue to push into our foothills. through this evening. by about 5:30, we might try and get an isolated shower going here in town. but more than likely, those storms refire as they push into the eastern plains overnight tonight. daytime highs are going to be in the middle 80s. for most of us here across plains. and 50s and 60s for the mountains. and middle 60s out across the western slopes. tonight, low to mid-40s. check out alamosa, 29. and locations down over the san luis valley, under a freeze watch tonight, through early saturday morning. because of the cold temperatures in the forecast. and tonight, here in denver, we drop to 45. tomorrow, highs reach just 68. it is going to be a cool weekend. with highs in the upper 60s. we've got a chance for some showers in our foothills

or there could be soon a controversial after school program in washington state. it is a satan club. seriously. they are calling it after school satan. and the satanic temple of seattle wanted to start a program after a parent told them that some schools have bible clubs. well, they believe that the good news bible club was teaching children to preach to each other and evangelize. well, the school district hired an attorney, who advised them club. the temple says they do not worship a deity but teach children logic and self empowerment and reasoning. a very eye-catching name. boost the value of your home with a few upgrades to your kitchen. the "fix this" crew is here next to show you how to do a cabinet maker yourself. >> and is your refrigerator running? not the set-up for a joke. we have a home hack to share that will save you hundreds of
12:21 pm
hi, everybody. so these days, it is a whole lot easier to remodel your kitchen on a budget. and anywhere you go, you can basically find those pre-fabed cabinets. so we want to show you today, how you can install those cabinets yourself, and save a whole lot of money. joining me now is jr little with high west. they are residentia specialists. and we are going to focus primarily on the cabinet base today. because that kind of starts it all off and you can save some money by installing it yourself. >> absolutely. plenty of money saved going in and doing it and you need time and creativity. >> and something like this, you can get these specially ordered at any store to fit the area you need. >> absolutely. >> talk a little bit about that. >> you can take in your dimensions, your sizes, pictures of your room, and they can pretty much build about anything for you. >> it is all done virtually, anymore.
12:22 pm
right there. >> and you do need some supplies. >> absolutely. what we are looking at today, we are going to get this all set up, get everything ready. we need drills. we are going to need a counter sync drill bit. you need the cabinet screws to screw the unit together. it all needs to be attached and put together this way. we also need to drill the back into the stud system. so we need to make sure that we have that. and we need a level to make sure that level and they are going to set right. we also are going to need shims because nothing is perfect in a home. and you are going to check the level of the floor. and most of the time, these floors slope, this way, and in and out, so you will have the four sides and you can shim any corner up that you want. so also one of the things that we want to be aware of is any outlets in the wall, we do need to cut out them. you cannot cover these up.
12:23 pm
have to cut them out and they have to be code restrictions. i will put all of these together and screw them here, these have been pre-drilled already. and we are going to use a counter-sync drill bit. >> make sure they are level. all the start shimming underneath, to make sure everything is clean, looks good, and that the unit is really nice and flat on top. so we can get our counter top on there. and use our adhesive to glue it down and get everything set. >> what we have to do is know where your studs are on the wall. and framing should be six inches on center. and you know there is going to be something right along here.
12:24 pm
checking for level, level, and plumb. >> i mark out every stud. make sure that you hit every stud. and behind, counter-sync, and pre-drill it and use your cabinet screws. everything looks great. so this is attached our cabinet screws into the wall. and we pre-drilled. and put our screws in the sides. so this system is ready to have the countertop installed. >> so we have a list of all of the information on how you can do this yourself.
