the night in the hospital. >>. >> halloween decorations that crossed the line showed up in fort collins. >> the debate attention turns to colorado this week. >> a new neighborhood development with 100 apartments and not a single parking space. >> and hurricane matthewen covers a part of -- matthew uncovers a part of our history that startedhundreds of 9news starts now. police are asking for help finding someone involved in a hit and run that left one person dead in a bizarre set of circumstances. just before 7:00 a dodge challenger was speeding on southbound colorado boulevard near 40th. it hit a prius starting a chain reaction involving two more vehicles. the driver of the prius died. the driver of the challenger got out and ran to a nearby conoco gas station and then left with someone who may not have known about the crash.

description but want to get the word out that they are looking for a light skinned black male in his 20s with braids who may have had blood on his face. if you've seen him or happened to be the driver that picked him up at the gas station, you're asked to call 911. broncos coach gary kubiak appears to be on the mend feeling better tonight. on sunday an ambulance left mile high carrying kubiak less than an hour after the broncos' loss. the coach went home this afternoon afr 9news reporter victoria sanchez tracked down a doctor who knows about the condition. >> nearly one in nine households have someone who gets the severe head pain but not everyone needs a hospital. i spoke with a local headache expert about some possible symptoms that could raise red flags. >> it starts behind an eye or at the base of their skull. >> reporter: if you've had one before, you know migraines can be debilitating. >> that's when the throbbing intense or tearing pain starts.

diagnosis that antis up that pain. >> a -- antes up that pain. doctors diagnosed head coach gary kubiak with symptoms after being taken to the hospital from mile high stadium sunday night. dr. randy james with the denver headache and spine center says the pain can last from a few hours to days and can include weakness that mimics a stroke on one side of the body. >> face drooping, clumsiness, food dragging, those kinds kinds of things can also be included in a migraine type issue. >> reporter: if kubiak had stroke-type symptoms, it's no wonder it was taken seriously especially since he had a mini stroke episode while coaching the texans on the field. migraines don't show up definitively on tests, but kubiak did have an mri and ct scan. sometimes the diagnosis comes from ruling out everything

sweater and dark blue pants and also had a pink and brown backpack. if you see her or know where she might be, call denver police. a hospital employee in memphis, tennessee, is getting credit helping save a little girl from a kidnapper. the 4-year-old was taken in florida and for three days police looked for her across three states. investigators say a security guard at the hospital tipped them off when he recognized the girl and the suspect. police say a former family friend identified as old west hoggs took her sometime saturday morning. it's not clear why the two were at the hospital. police carried the little girl to safety and took the suspect then into custody. they say she doesn't appear to have been hurt. her family got the good news soon after. >> i probably would not let her go. i'll probably never let her go. >> never let her go. this has been hard, a long hard road. >> the girl's family told police they had not seen hoggs in more than two years after

tim kaine came to denver for a rally alongside the dave matthews band. donald trump was also in colorado greenwood village for a small business roundtable and tomorrow his head campaign office in greeley and hillary clinton is coming back here to pueblo on wednesday for an event. colorado's republican senate candidate darryl glenn supported donald trump until saturday when he companied trump and vowed not to support him and then today he switched back to would be a flip followed by a flop. glenn told fox news trump did what he needed to do to reset his campaign after last night's debate. this might be a topic of conversation tomorrow night in the only televised debate in the u.s. senate race. glenn and michael bennet will debate live on 9news tomorrow night from history colorado in denver. coverage starts with it next live from history, colorado, at 6:00 on 9news. the debate is at 7:00 on

the flooding left behind by hurricane matthew may become north carolina's biggest disaster. flooding has now stranded 1,500 people in the town of lumberton south of fayetteville, many rescued from the rooftops of their homes. nearly half a million people across the state without power even this morning. >> we never thought it would be this bad, never. >> of the 11 deaths blamed on matthew 10 were in north carolina. a state of emergency remains in remains in effect there for more than 40 counties. >> matthew will go down as one of the most destructive hurricanes to hit the south east. with at least $6 billion in damage it will be the costliest hurricane since superstorm sandy. it will go down as the longest lived category 4 or 5 storm ever on record in the eastern caribbean.

make landfall north of georgia late season in october since hazel in 1954. the 14 inches of rain from the storm that fell on fayetteville, north carolina, on saturday was the most any day on record in fayetteville. if you added up all the rain, the amount of water that fell on the u.s. from matthew, it would fill the rose bowl 163,000 times. the hurricane also uncovered civil war munitions on folly island near charleston. ov in the past a union fort during the civil war and a staging area for attacks on confederate strong holds. a beach walker found a cluster of cannonballs and a team of explosive experts from the air force detonated them yesterday. a few were taken to a nearby naval base for a closer look. hi there. i'm meteorologist kathy sabine outside in the 9news backyard where it is mild, dry and just a beautiful fall day. as we look at the sunset

in lumberton, north carolina, 1,500 people trapped concerns of a levee breech. as of 7:00 this morning a half million people without power, 1,000 water rescues and 11 deaths, north carolina probably the hardest hit and a story we'll continue to follow. behind matthew what is this? tropical storm nicole, everybody along the eastern seaboard watching to see what happens with this tropical storm. it looks as though it will stay off to shore and out the north of us bringing snow to idaho and montana. look at the highs in billings and bismarck compared to den tomorrow. we'll get a piece -- denver tomorrow. we'll get a piece of that energy here. there will be high-based showers over some of the higher peaks maybe mixing with snow down around telluride, aspen

from colorado's sports leader here's drew soicher. >> hi, everybody. it took 57 years, but for the first time in broncos history a colora practice tonight. joe decamillis who normally serves as special teams coordinator took over for gary kubiak who was released from the hospital earlier today and ordered by doctors to take a week off. decamillas has never been a head coach before at any level, but has worked with the team for three decades. joe hoped to begin with a few pleasantries, but 9news broncos insider mike klis quickly put an end to that.
