drizzle. meteorologist kathy sabine joins us. tomorrow is the coolest day of the week and it kind of goes back up from there. there's not a lot of moisture from this front which we desperately need. it's been really dry. that temperature cooldown you'll feel and we're clipping the edge of the coldest air. cloud are already on the increase with that front approaching. east still fair skies, but to the west dark skies and down to 38 in leadville, 68 in broomfield, 71 at dia high today of 79. we're starting to feel that cool air creeping into northern colorado as temperatures are already starting to drop, but look at the cool air to the north, 32 degrees currently in billings, 40 in rapid city and 38 in bismarck. that is some cold air and it's coming right down the pike along the front range. the only winter weather advisory is outside our state's border near the billings area and rapid city, moisture so limited we'll be hard pressed to squeeze out a shower down here tonight, maybe a little

worked out. >> reporter: ryan, each side declined invitations to other debates but did agree to duke it out here at the history colorado center. i spoke with 9news political analyst floyd ciruli who says this is darryl glenn's best chance to win voters from bennet. ciruli expects him to be on the attack the entire debate and not go over the top. on the other hand, he says michael bennet will take the opposite approach saying bennet's poll lead hovers around 10%. so the former denver public schools superintendent does not need to take too many risks. >> there will definitely be very cautious -- bennet will definitely be very cautious, polite, generous to his opponent here who is not really a threat at the moment. i think he obviously wants to

the latest wall street journal poll shows donald trump may have made up ground in the second debate in the wake of those lewd comments that he made about women in 2005. our latest poll shows secretary clinton now leads trump by 10 points, 50-40% down the 14 points she led the days after this 2005 audio was released. now fewer people think that those comments are disqualifying. 38% before the debate said yes, they 36% saying those comments are disqualifying. it's a big hurdle for the trump campaign. we'll have a lot more on all the numbers tonight on nightly news. at home denver police arrested a suspect in a hit and run crash. one person was killed and officers arrested the suspect last night. they found him naked in a lake at city park. the suspect identified as 25- year-old tyler white from tennessee is held for investigation of vehicular homicide, driving urge the

the crash happened last night along southbound colorado boulevard near i-70. police believed white hit a prius which then hit two other cars. the person in the prius died. police say white ran away from the wreck. he was found in the lake three hours later. police are not sure yes was naked but believe drugs or alcohol may have been involved. >> initially we thought he may have actually gotten in another vehicle and fled the scene, but we're still looking into how exactly he up at city park. >> denver police are asking anyone with information to contact them. the number of dead killed by hurricane matthew in the u.s. continues to rise now standing at 30. half of those were in north carolina where a federal disaster has been declared. four more people were confirmed dead there today. three motorists were washed away by floodwaters and a man died when a tree fell on his car as he drove home from work.

the coastguard and national guard are working to rescue thousands of people still stranded by floodwaters. power has yet to be restored to hund?ureds of thousands. >>samsung has stopped production totally of its galaxy note 7 smartphone, this after it recalled the devices and then halted sales of their replacements after they, too caught fire. when several samsung galaxy note 7 smartphones spontaneously caught fire in august, hundreds of employees were assigned to test device. none malfunctioned. engineers on a tight deadline concluded it was a defect caused by faulty batteries from one of the suppliers, so they changed batteries, but then some of the replacement models caught fire. the shutdown of the galaxy 7 comes two months after its launch. customers are told to return the phones for a refund. in global trading samsung has seen billions of dollars wiped off its market value.

thank you for bringing me home. >> nice to see that little girl smiling, joy and relief as a 4- year-old girl kidnapped from her home last week is reunited with her family in florida. rebecca lewis' father carried her into an airport in lakeland, florida, where other family members greeted her. rebecca vanished early saturday setting off a frantic ar her accused kidnapper is a former family friend now in custody. rebecca was rescued by police yesterday at a memphis hospital after a nurse recognized the two, no word yet why they were at that hospital. an iowa company is recalling the cookie dough it sold to blue bell creameries and other food companies because it may be contaminated with listeria. in response blue bell is recalling all products made with cookie dough supplied by aspen hills. the blue bell recall involves

chocolate chip cookie dough and cookie two steps sold to retailers and some flavors sold to food service clients. listeria can cause fatal and sometimes serious infections in young children and frail and elderly people and those with weakened immune systems. it's easy to see why anyone would enjoy a bubble bath. the animals at the denver zoo are no exception. zookeepers all the bath a creative form of enrichment. the bubble bath was introduce first since then other zoo teams added bubble baths for their own animals as a form of stimulation. the zoo said the bubbles are approved by its vet team, nontoxic just like the kind used for human babies. a 5th grader in lafayette, california, took an idea proposed presidential candidate and used it to win a spot in his school's government. he said if elected, he would

hi there. welcome back. i'm meteorologist kathy sabine outside in the 9news backyard watching the clouds roll in over the backyard fence and feeling the temperature fall. a cold front is on the way, a 20-degree drop in temperatures but unfortunately not a lot of moisture. it is so pretty in the high country where we have had reports of late rain and snow

hard time holding together. in the southern mountains it was a rain/snow mix up high where temperatures held in the 40s today. 79 we hit at dia today with 85 in the lamar area and 78 grand junction. the average is 67. the record today is 87. currently we're down to 71 with north winds picking up in the backyard as well outside the studios, almost 70 degrees downtown. on radar we'r showers moving west to east off the foothills, a bit of wind and lightning. we have a winter weather advisory out for the billings area and we're tracking the flood threat that continues across the carolinas from the remnants of hurricane matthew and all of that record rainfall there. we could use some moisture across the western u.s. this system is poorly organized. there's definitely cool air coming in with it, but we're also keeping an eye on the atlantic as we have yet another

hurricane nicole, winds now 80 miles per hour, a category 1 storm, looks to stay offshore, but something that folks across the eastern seaboard will monitor. cool air will follow this weather system through and the severe weather threat will increase outside of dallas, memphis and chicago tomorrow. we'll have areas of patchy fog and drizzle tomorrow morning. temperatures with midday clearing will top out mid-50s close to 60. there's about a 20% chance elevations mainly with the east to northeast flow on the plains. we'll get the low cloud deck. that means drizzle and fog tomorrow morning, more than scattered showers. midday clearing, a nice wind shift in the afternoon and the weather will improve by lunchtime. you may run into a brief rain/snow shower on i-70 between midnight and 6 a.m. temperatures in the high country will be in the 30s as they will to be lower elevations with the exception of southeastern colorado in the 40s. grand junction 73 tomorrow. that cool pool of air pushing
