warning. much of the front range, eastern plains running down to new mexico border this morning. a lot of us have not reached the low temperature for the day. we're in the 20s and low 30s around here now. we also have frost concerns for yuma, carson, cheyenne this morning. upper 20s to low 30s. we'll slowly warm to mid and we'll pop up to 50s and 60s this afternoon. by late in the afternoon, i anticipate that we're going to start to see a few fair weather clouds in and around the area. as far as air quality goes, we did get a break from the wildfire spoke yesterday with the strong northerly wind that came through. it's really confining the smoke

online. all right thank you. six minutes after 6:00 now. nine homeless people say city of denver violated their constitutional rights. today a status hearing is going to happen on a federal lawsuit filed against the city. the group says denver passed a camping ban. they say city has taken and destroyed their property. denver mayor hancock has defended the homeless sweep saying the city made the move because of unsafe conditions in the ball park neighborhood. government investigators are looking into the allegations that veterans administration employees used in colorado used unofficial wait list to hide how long veterans had to wait for care. the va watchdog announced audit wednesday. senator ron johnson of wisconsin and corey gardener asked for the inquiry after the whistle blower

he also told them a 26-year-old army ranger took his own life waiting for mental health care in colorado springs and the clinic may have falsified the veteran's records after he decide. chilly this morning. this time yesterday we did have some snow. our friend matt has a great eye catching some of the new snow in the county during the day yesterday. if you're working outside, bundle up this morning. you'll want layers. later in the day, as low 60s. start feeling toasty for you. junkins fire area, that would be at the worst humidity levels. getting fairly low this afternoon into the teens. temperatures again in the fire area staying in the 50s today. from a wind and temperature standpoint, pretty good looking day for firefighters. >> good. glad to hear it.

. clear and calmer this morning than yesterday. the front is out. it is kicking off thunderstorms in the midwest. we have dry weather from here to the west coast. the showers that you're seeing up there in oregon and washington are going up and around colorado over the weekend. that leaves us with clear sky this isor let's see a few cirrus cloud moving in this afternoon. temperatures at or little warmer than yesterday. because it will be less windy, going to feel a lot better than yesterday. low 60s for most of us, 50s in the foothills. as far as wind goes, we keep nit single digits most of the day. few freezes in the foothills during the afternoon. across the state, dry for really everyone in colorado.

. 6:19. a member of california law enforcement has died in the line of duty. a sheriff deputy near the oregon border was shot and killed responding to a disturbance call wednesday night the suspect is in custody. the sheriff office says deputy jack hoffmann just joined the force last year. overnight, fellow deputies held

lights and sirens. a mentally ill woman shot and killed by a new york city police officer is going to be remembered today. a vigil is planned tonight for 66-year-old deborah danker. her neighbor reported a disturbance at an apartment tuesday. officers arrived and say she was maked and armed with says res so. she charged one of them with a baseball bat. the officer that shot her is placed on modified duty the city's protocol. a patriotic rescue on the side of the highway, and a troopers camera caught it all. the video shows trooper velez driving toward the eagle. see the speck on the side of the road, shoulder of the highway? the eagle had been hit by a car. the troop per gets out of his car and -- trooper gets out of his car, makes his way over,
