colorado this morning. we're already beginning to see that. it has been going on for a few hours now, with rain and lightning in parts of western colorado. hd doppler has been showing the showers continuing to move from the west, especially from the grand mesa area to the southwest. great to see this. it will continue to shift to the east during the day. we will have showers in the mountain areas during the middle part of the day. 10:00 a.m. to over the front range. then things shift off to the east. the best rain as anticipated yesterday is going to be in the mountains and west, with upwards of half an inch in a few places. less than a tenth of inch around here in spots that get showers. light showers here and there. clouds during the middle of the day. and then after 3:00 p.m. is when we will begin to see things clear out. over the next several days, it

if you search #ballotselfie on twitter or facebook, you will find lots of pictures of people voting. if you share how you voted, this is a misdemeanor. this goes back to a law from 1891. it says sharing how you vote is illegal and now a state senator and a du student are trying to change that with a lawsuit. that student, scott romano says that people should be able to show their patriotism. >> whether it's a ballot selfie or taking a photo inside of a like senator hill, said, that's up to the individual. >> reporter: in this age of social media, she says it protects against, quote, intimidation or inducement.

junkins fire area. difficult, difficult fire fighting conditions with humidity levels that will be slightly higher during the day. but i think the wind will offset that little advantage. >> hope they can hold their ground on that 50% containment, marty. denver police are investigating an overnight shooting. police say a man was shot just before 10:30 monday morning. the man was taken to the hospital but police are not releasing much yet on his co shooter. he was last seen wearing a black hoodie with light pants. that's the only description they have given us. if they tell us more, we will pass it along. a woman who admitted to driving drunk before slamming into two motorcyclists is facing several years in prison. she pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide on monday. it happened on highway 83 in frank ton last february.

>> okay. so all of the costumes that kids at denver schools will wear this halloween, there is one that you won't see. >> so this is what is going on. denver public schools has banned the creepy costumes for all students. this after some incidences across the country. it's been pretty creepy. we have heard the stories, people dressed up as creepy clowns. scaring people, hanging on to the backs of buses, committing crimes, chasing kids and even

these are all real police reports. more than 20 states have reported creepy clown cases. dps has not received one of those threats but they're acting out of an abundance of caution. this year all clown costumes are banned at all denver public schools. brighton 27j schools have also banned clown costumes. we're checking to see if while dps has always had bans like toy weapons at schools, this may be the first time that the district has banned a specific costume. >> not in my knowledge of the history of denver public schools have we banned a costume. it has been the frenzy, clown costumes. we hope since it is new, people are paying attention to it and will follow guidelines. >> what will happen if a

these costumes? it is up to the principals to decide who to do. the bans may have you feeling one way or another. hold on to the opinions. we will let you vote live on the air at 6:30. >> there goes your costume idea. >> darn. tarhonda, thank you. the creepy clowns are just -- i don't know. something weird. colorado parks and wildlife is going to euthanize a black bear that attacked a man in south the man was walking along a stream when he noticed the bear. that's when the bear knocked him over and then ran off. the man's hands, legs and stomach were injured. he is expected to survive though. they are now looking for that bear. colorado parks and wildlife says it will consider a control plan to euthanize more mountain lions and black bears. that according to the denver

boost the state's dwindling deer population. colorado parks and wildlife proposes to kill 15 more mountain lions and bear a year taking effect this year. the predator control experiment would begin in the arkansas river valley ing to other basins this spring. state wildlife commissioners are expected to decide on the plan by december 15th. and around here, if you are working outside today, you may get a little damp from time to time. especially from the middle of the morning until early this afternoon. in and around lunchtime when the main core of the system moves through. late this afternoon, we will begin to dry things out. the broncos are back at work. short week for them. of course they played last night beautifully. sunday they have a chance to get back at the chargers with temperatures near the record high of 80 degrees around that 2:05 kickoff on sunday. and then a weak cold front

bowl eligible for the first time in a decade. so the win on the road against stanford on saturday was their sixth win of the season. the ap and coaches poll have ranks the bucks in the top 25. we spoke to the athletic director. he says some bowls are already showing interest in the team. but they are interested in winning more games and moving up in the climbing higher and higher. that's why it's been a flirtation all along. nobody seems to want to vault the city higher until we get more wins. >> this is the second time that the team has made the top 25 in the national polls this season. in week five after beating oregon state, they were ranked 21 in the ap poll but they dropped out their loss to usc.

appeals to block his departure. mexico expects to extradite guzman to the u.s. at the beginning of 2017 despite the appeals. he faces charges including money laundering, kidnapping and murder in the united states. in southern colorado right now, the junkins fire is 60% contained that. is progress. firefighters say it won't be completely out the junkins fire has destroyed nine homes and burned 28 square miles. it started last week when winds blew a metal building on to a utility pole. that knocked down a power line. crews say they hope to have it out by november 15th. although marty, you're talking about some wind that could make it difficult for them today at least. >> yeah. it's short term. and hopefully in the long-term they will make progress. today will be a tough day.

the state. now, it won't bring much moisture to the valley but it will kick up the wind, especially from late morning through early afternoon. after these showers pass through during the day today, there's not much coming behind it. so it's going to be fairly dry across the state. a few showers developing here and there. mid morning through early afternoon. and then after 3:00, we just kind of clear things out around here. at most, if you're in a place that does manage to get some rain, at most yo perhaps a tenth of an inch. everybody else will get less than that here in the front range. with highs in the lower 70s. up and down i-25 with 50s and 60s in the foothills. of course we started with the showers in the west. we will transition them across the i-25 corridor. right in the middle of the day, lunchtime or a little after. as things shift to the east, we start to dry out and we will send things over into kansas and nebraska. best rain in the mountains and

70s here. 80s down south. 50s in the northern mountains. with 60s out west. for us today, 73. clouds. a few very light showers here and there. after 3:00 p.m., we start clearing out. it will be a beautiful evening. fairly mild overnight with lows in the mid-40s. tomorrow running about 10 degrees above average. near records on thursday, friday, and again on sunday. the records for all three of those days are 5:52. sky 9 will be up in a bit to show us that drive. but in the meantime you're looking at the cdot cams at 25 and arapahoe. you can see a few trucks and cranes in the median of the drive. but, hey, i-25 is not affected by that slowdown. really the biggest issue is across arapahoe underneath the highway where we see the biggest delays throughout the day. greeley checking clear. great conditions down towards
