a breaking situation happening now. 9news confirmed a fan died at last night's broncos game after falling. the management says the fan fell over a stairwell railing.

to the hospital monday night. the fall happened shortly after the game. it's not clear how that person fell. the denver police department is looking into what happened. there's a lot happening on i-70 in georgetown now. crews are working to clean up the highway and round up cattle after a cattle truck rolled over on eastbound i-70 this morning. this is a look at the crash and the backups that happened earlier had morning. the colorado department of transportation first reported you can see there was extensive delay along i-70 in georgetown. drivers are still encouraged to be mindful of this and be ready to take an alternate if needed. at one point they were wandering. you could see and hear them. matt renoux is live in georgetown. you could probably smell them too? >> that's right. you can still smell them and see them.

georgetown. the not so open range here. now being loaded up and getting back to where they need to go. they are starting to get things back to normal after a cattle truck crashed, some got out right after the crash, others were just now let out. the cattle truck rolled in the eastbound lanes of i-70 coming down georgetown hill. it lost its brakes, couldn't make the turn, several cows started roaming around so services, cdot and animal patrol keeping them from getting on to i-70 and causing even more problems. >> it didn't involve other vehicles. that is pretty amazing there. the driver is ok. shook up. you saw how shook up the cows were. they were not happy. >> reporter: there you see the cows right now trying to get into that trailer.

need to do. they are being herded, whatever they have to do, they have a cdot truck, animal service truck, just trying to push them in. there are still a few more cows, pan up the hillside, they still need to be loaded in the truck. they will do them in different sections because it's not a very big truck compared to the 80 that were in the semi. the semi up the hill has been righted up and it will be towed out. traffic on i-70 returning to normal and at the same time you can see the cattle are starting to get where they need to go. 80 in all, six of them didn't survive the crash. but the rest of them did. which was pretty remarkable considering that semi truck was going pretty fast and all the cars are on i-70.

for an escaped inmate had a new problem. now they are dealing with a man who has barricaded himself in his home. brighton police say officers have been negotiating with the man since about 5:20 this morning. the incident prompted a lockdown in the 100 block of south 10th avenue. residents are asked to stay where they are. if you live around here stay inside. several schools in the area have been placed on lockout this morning. they academy, vicon middle school and brighton high school. police were originally looking for the escaped inmate when another man called authorities. saying "police are looking for somebody, he's not here, if police don't leave something bad is going to happen." police say they are certain that the man who is barricaded is not the inmate they were originally looking for, but

this. the weather now. belen deleon has more. >> we have a warm-up headed our way by the end of the week. let's look at the forecast because from yesterday highs in the upper 70s. today our temperatures are about 11 degrees cooler than just 24 hours ago. so that is different. another thing, cooler air wrought us higher humidity so that is helping with fire danger across colorado. it's not as high as what it over the weekend. thankfully. we have rain and we have a little snow in higher elevations. here's a look at the wet roads along wolf creek pass and those light showers are currently falling around areas in the roaring fork valley. they have let up closer to the foothills. looks like northeastern colorado is seeing a little bit of rain as well. with some of those darker clouds but these clouds are going to be bark, not a lot of bite. any rain we see is going to be on the light side, maybe up to

that is the rainfall amount through the next 24 hours. if you're outside the city though i like this, the clouds, i like that you can see still a bit of fall in the camera outside of our studios. temperatures in the 60s. highs today only low 70s but even this is above normal for this time of year. we're currently in the top 10 warmest octobers in history. and only a few days left. we'll see what is in store up in the full forecast. >> i knew it was warm but didn't think it was that warm. here's the opposite of that skiers and snowboarders heading to telluride to enjoy fresh powder will have more options. dia plans to introduce two new flying to telluride today. allegiant air and great lakes airlines will both offer options. they say they will be low cost

florida is again the focus of the presidential campaign. it's a big enough deal to bring the two major candidates together, sort of. they are both campaigning in the state. hillary clinton is stumping in south florida. donald trump is spending his third day there. he stop at his own doral golf club in miami. it appears he needs to have a win in florida to have a chance at the 270 electoral votes he needs to win the presidency. there floridians who can no longer be persuaded. that is how many poem voted so far in the state. nearly 300,000 turned out yesterday for the first day of in person early voting. floridians are not the only ones voting early. colorado voters are also weighing in. nearly 114,000 ballots statewide have already been returned. looking across the metro area, voters in denver, jefferson and

these days everyone loves selfies. if you take a selfie with your completed ballot you're committing a crime. it's colorado law but now there's a suit in federal court to change that. 9news reporter andrew sorensen brings us more from the denver election division. >> reporter: there's a new law challenging this week whether you can take a selfie of your ballot. currently if you're stepping into the voting boon and snapping pictures you could be anyone how you voted, that law goes back to 1891, supposed to stop people from bribing others on how they vote. a du student and state senator are challenging the law. senator owen hills says the law is out of date. >> it still ends up coming up again in the house and senate i will put forth all my energy that i can to make sure our freedoms are matched in the ladies and gentlemenliture. >> reporter: the deputy stot

welcome back. happy tuesday. i like this cooldown. it's cloudy outside, temperatures feel cooler. it's not going to last long though. over theek temperatures were really warm. in the 80s. even yesterday we were in the upper 70s. but today we're going to do temperatures in the low 70s. still above normal for this time of year. we have a very weak disturbance and it's helped trigger a few showers, mixed in with a little snow in the high country. the temperatures will remain a little cooler through tomorrow and then we're really going to warm up. by the end of the week the temperatures could be close to record highs. our normal high for this time

the only day we were even close to that was last thursday, we've been well above that the last several days. and right now we're at 64 degrees at dia. here in the backyard our temperatures also at 64 degrees. the temperatures across the state look like this, 40s and 50s in the mountains, 60s in northern colorado. it's really toasty to the south and southeast where we currently have the temperature in the 80s. so that is going to be the warmest spot across the state. 70 for areas in the lower elevations, arnd to the 50s. looks like more clouds will be there. i love this picture with the caption "very little house on the prairie." that is over sunshine mesa near telluride. just beautiful. it's in the mountains this morning where we had most of the precipitation fall. through the rest of the afternoon we'll have some very spotty showers in the mountains. here in the city the best chance for us to to see rain will be now through 4:00 this afternoon. and even at that it's going to

through 4:00 p.m. we're actually going to see clearing in north and northeast colorado, through this evening. maybe spotty showers to the south but no severe weather expected. any rain that falls is not going to be that impressive. maybe up to a 10th inch. the dark clouds look ominous but not going to breath a lot of -- bring a lot of rain. forecast from workings in 60s, around sunset. and then overnight 46 the overnight low. temperatures cross the state are going to look like this, 30s and 20s for spots in the high country. 40s for us down low so still mild for overnight lows. tomorrow a high of 73 degrees looks like a nice day with more sunshine. and then highs in the 80s for thursday and friday. those are going to be near record highs. on saturday and sunday clouds increase, so do the winds and temperatures will be in the 70s. if you have questions about your forecast i want to send

they got bonuses to join the military. now nearly 10,000 men and women from the california national guard are being told to pay that money back. some are not in a position to pay. morgan radford tells us more. >> reporter: when the military needed more troops to help

afghanistan - the california national guard started handing out bonuses, a $15,000 one or more. >> my first deployment. >> reporter: robert deandrea served two tours of combat duty in iraq and now asked to return his $20,000 bonus. >> or i'm in violation of federal law. >> reporter: what did you think when you first got that letter saying you owed money? >> anger, we didn't do anything wrong. we stepped forward, volunteered and did our duty and now we're getting slapped in the face for it. >> she was signed by a military recruiter. in some cases some of them knew they were not really eligible for enlistment bonuses but signed them up anyway. in 2011 a so-called incentive manager for the california guard pleaded guilty to filing false claims totally $15 million. three other officers also pleaded guilty to fraud.

they requested? >> no. i haven't. i don't plan on it either. i plan on winning. >> reporter: a pentagon spokesperson tells us that the senior leadership of the department is looking very closely at this matter and say that the national guard units in other states may have the same issue. students told to leave clown costumes at home especially the creepy ones. because people dressed up as creepy clowns scaring people or even committing crimes. some cases across the country involve threats against schools by clowns. dps has not received one of those threats but the school district is still notifying parents all clown costumes are banned at all denver public schools. while dps has always had bans on things like toy weapons at schools this may be the first

a new study ranks which

boulderer had the lowest rates of heart attacks. each of these cities listed have fewer than 2% of residents with a history of heart attacks. the poll looked at 190 cities across the country. charleston, west virginia had the highest rate of heart attacks. new tests from the insurance institute for highway safety show many popular trucks are falling short on lighting the way, that could be really dangerous for drivers. among the 11 pickup trucks evaluatessed only one large pickup, honda ridgeline earned a good rating for the headlights. all four small pickups earned a poor rating. the tests also found out of the 23 headlight combinations available on the pickup trucks evaluatedded, 14 of them created excessive glare for oncoming drivers. a photo of a smiling premie made a big splash on social media over the weekend. so a colorado mom thought she
