term popularized by conservative radio host rush limbaugh - calling us the drive-by media. in and out for a story - never to one of the biggest criticisms is a term by rush limbaugh, the drive-by media. not unlike the hit and run driver who sped into and out of marilyn eemz' live, and the media who spid into and out of her life. this is what happens when we circle back to see what >> it was october 13th. it was a gorgeous october morning. i was walking across the street. and that's the last thing i remember. >> denver police are investigating a hit and run accident. >> this is the first time you've been back here. >> yes. >> why? >> i need some closure. [ crying ] >> i'm

>> police tell us the woman was on her way to work. >> the car hit me with such impact that it threw me from over in the intersection to the end of this white line. >> basically right about where we're standing. >> yes, the next thing i remember is hearing someone asking if i was alive. >> then another lady came to me, identified herself as an er asked me mine and kept me talking. >> she's now in the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. >> we tend to forget about what goes on after those nonlife-threatening injuries. what's the last year been like for you? >> i spent 22 weeks in a wheelchair. i had to retire from my job. i wasn't gonna be administratively terminated because my family medical leave ran out.
6:02 pm
>> i continue to have flashbacks. >> police don't have any information at this point. >> you still don't know who that was. >> no. >> what do you say to that person? >> they're a coward. they left me laying there to die. they didn't care enough about a human being. but that nurse, whoever she is, thank you. [ crying ] give her a hug and tell her thank you. [ crying ] >> in you think you have any idea who that nurse is, shoot us an e-mail. we'll try to get them together. if someone offers you a great deal on a super bowl 50 ring, be aware. it probably belongs to demarcus ware. thieves stole from his house during the broncos game last night. he was positive about it. positive the police are gonna catch these feel fools.
6:03 pm
>> the photos of the suspects are pretty clear. if you call with the right tip, you may be able to add a demarcus ware autograph to your cash reward. it's very clear that a democratic waived election is in the making. colorado democrats have never had an early voting lead this large with two weeks to go. before you why would media bias at your analysis was word for word from a republican political strategy and polling group out ever lewisville. even majellan strategies is sounding the alarm that colorado republicans are in deep trouble. the number of early voting ballots returned more than doubled from yesterday's count to this morning's. and democrats hold a significant advantage, 41% of the ballots returned are from registered demes. 33% from registered republicans. certainly some ever those are crossover votes.
6:04 pm
the vast majority are not. and with the sheer number of ballots returned, the republican group notes the democrats have tripled their lead in ballots continue yesterday's count and today's. >> adrian observed "what looks like conflicting instructions". the graphic shows it being filled out with a pencil like a test you take in grade school. do not fill out your ballot using it says that on the ballot. this image may resemble a traditional penszil, but -- pencil, but voters are following directions and using black or blue pen. mike coffman can't shake trump. here's a truth test. >> reporter: coffman now says he won't vote for trump. can't
6:05 pm
ad from national democrats puts the two onscreen together. >> connald trump and congressman coffman will punish women. >> reporter: this is misleading. the ad is all about abortion, and it's true that both men on screen want to curb abortion by changing the law. but donald trump is the only one who's embraced the idea that women who get abortions ought to be punished. >> punishment for abortion. >> the answer is that there has to be >> for the woman. >> yeah, there has to be some form. >> reporter: trump later walked this back saying doctors should be punished, not the women who get abortions. the point is coffman has never expressed the view that women should be punished for getting abos. and that's what the ad is
6:06 pm
to attack coffman with a line we've heard before. >> coffman tried to redefine rape to mean only forcible rape. in coffman's bill, victims who were drugged, even minors, victims of statutory rape, would not be considered rape victims. >> reporter: this needs context. we're not talking about changing the definition of the crime rape. coffman cosponsored a bill in the house to ban federal funds from paying for abortions with some exceptions. and it ise of that bill made forcible rape one of those exceptions but not other kinds of rape. in committee, opponents pointed out that wording wouldn't cover all kinds of rape, so the committee changed the wording to simply make an exception for rape, full stop. coffman wasn't on that committee he want voted for the bill after the language was changed. he put his name on a bill that tried to draw a line between forcible rape and other kinds, but that wasn't the bill's main goal. and coffman

language. bottom line, coffman is a pro-life candidate. he has a record that is fair game. but this ad has to stretch beyond that record to portray coffman as embracing some of trump's most extreme comments on the subject. >> i saw evan mcmullen, you say who! he could become the first third party candidate to win a state since george wallace in 1968! he is an unaffiliated conservative neck in neck in utah. tonight he's come to campaign in colorado. >> did you single handedly create a swing state in utah? >> i don't know about that. i think donald trump created a swing state in utah when he abandoned conservative principles or when the party abandoned conservative principles by nominating him. people talk about utah as being a red state or a republican state, but like much of the mountain west, i would rather call it a principled
6:08 pm
conservative principles, namely that all people are created equal, and that all should have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. and that's why i think you saw donald trump and hillary clinton rejected so strongly by most mountain west states by large margins. >> i couldn't personal leer find a poll in colorado where pole sters specifically asked voters about mcmullen. other polls around 2%. in a bit, we'll talk honestly with him about the impact he hopes to h race. and the republican party. it's a sign, and a good one too. perhaps this is what we should try to do to reboot political civility in america. it's a sign that linda harris found reading "has anyone just tried turn the country on and off again?". it works halftime time our it guys say. if you see a sign that makes you laugh or think or get angry, send it to

should be mild and dry, temperatures in the mid-50s. if you think this weather is for the birds, it's perfect for picking and carving that special pumpkin in your life. we return to our conversation with un-afilliated presidential condition evan mcmullen who has a real shot to win the state of utah. she campaigning in colorado and admits she not going to win. he wants to pick off another states electoral college majority. but that doesn't look likely either. now he's out to make a statement. >> if we're able to win a state or perform very well in a number of states in a region, it sends a message to washington, to the republican party that there are people who will still stand on principle. we'll not go along with the republicans if they're going to become a populist,
6:15 pm
supremacist party, principled constitutional conservatives are not gonna go along with that. and that's the message. >> between the two major party candidates, donald trump and hillary clinton, which strikes you as the more morally sound choice? >> huh . well, you're asking me to make a lesser of two evils decision, and i'm calling on americans to do better than that. we need better leaders in this country. we've gotten ourselves in this rut of knowledging that these other -- believing that these other kinds of decisions that we make, especially with our elected leaders. i'm not gonna answer that question because i think it's the wrong question. and it's a fair question. but we need to start proactively searching for the leaders who are honest and wise, and promoting them into office, rather than passively wait further two major parties to give us what they give us because it's just not working. >> what's your opinion of elected republicans like mike coffman who won't tell voters who they're gonna vote president?
6:16 pm
unfortunate, and i don't think that's real leadership. because leadership is not just swhag you're against but what you're for and fighting for it. this conservep country is in a leadership crisis, i believe. i think hillary clinton and donald trump personify that. also these leaders who won't say what they're for and won't fight for a positive path forward for the country, i believe they're part of it too. they put party ahead of the country, and ahead of the american people'ses. they put power over principle. and we just can't have that in our er time. >> thank you. smoking hasn't been allowed on airplanes since the '80s, so why are there still snow-smoking signs above each seat? and no, you're not smoking something. that driver doesn't have a

our next question comes from the boss. 9news general manager steve carter asked us why do airlines still include the international symbol for no smoking on new airplanes? former ntsb investigator tells us while smoking has been banned since 1988, many planes in service were with the before then. changing anything on an airplane involves a lot of red tape. so some carriers may have left the no-smoking signs on newer planes just to avoid the half. some passengers clearly need the reminder. smoking on a plane. newer generation planes are replacing the signs with signs that lees turn off electronic devices. there you have it! f a beer truck made a run from fort collins to colorado springs. it was the driver that caught our eye. he was not at the wheel. he was sitting back
