the city. that broke the record of 80 last set in 1966. obviously a tough one to beat and we basically destroyed it today. 82 in? bloomfield. greeley 85. 79 for fort collins. nederland and idaho springs at 75 degrees. as we look at radar, you are not looking at much. we are not expecting much around here for at least a couple of days. remainder of our evening. temperatures late this afternoon and into this evening dropping back to the low 80s at 4:00, 5:00. and then at 6:00 p.m. we will be at 75. at 7:00 we will be at 69. coming up tomorrow, we are looking at highs in the low 80s. the record high for tomorrow is 80 degrees. that was last set in 1994. we're forecasting a number above that.

bystanders. the districts attorney office ruled the use of legal force in this shooting was justified. the 40-year-old shooter was armed with several weapons and thousands of rounds of ammunition. and it was evident to them he was not going to give up. david king praised the actions of his officers today. >> officer dorrell definitely did something i'm sure he didn't want to have to do but he stopped that threat that day. actions that he and the other officers performed that day. >> injured detective dan brite was taken to the hospital without a pulse. he has since recovered. he is being treated in inglewood. as for the shooter, he had multiple gun on him and at his home. he purchased them legally. it is not the first time that the guys who are accused

time they are in trouble. they are facing charges for burglary and felony theft for the break in. past charges include child abuse, trespassing, false reporting and dui. an arrest affidavit says an anonymous crime stoppers tip led police to mccaslin. ware's super bowl 50 ring was one of the items take returned to him. police started arresting dakota access peopleline protesters who are patrolling at a camp that demonstrators set up. tribal leaders have been fighting for months. the protesters were asked to leave on their yesterday. police started making arrests around lunchtime today.

colorado christian university tonight at 6:00. hillary clinton campaigned with first lady michelle obama for the first time today in north carolina. the election just 11 days away now. the president at colorado mesa university in grand junction says the school is looking into potential political bias within a classroom. a professor may have been trying to sway students to vote for hillary clinton. the school's newspaper reports director of work and progress to speak to his class about leadership positions. they are a group that supports hillary clinton. >> maybe some of the other kids don't like hillary or. >> don't agree with what she has to say or probably just don't want to be involved in it. >> most people know this is a huge election. and instead of trying to sway people in a particular direction, i think it should be the professors job to educate for both sides.

pick up on and that could be a loss of balance. >> reporter: taking your child to see a doctor is a must. >> concussions typically they do resolve on their own. but you have to gauge how extensive the brain energy is. that is what a concussion is. a very mild brain surgery. depending on the mechanism, you could have under lying problems. >> reporter: like fluid buildup in the brain. and permanent nerve damage. usually after a few days of rest your child should be as good as new. but it could lead to learning and development problems. thankfully for the allen's, fisher has a plan to keep that from happening. >> not bump my head and not try that again. >> he is so cute. >> not going to do that again. >> doctors say young kids recover after a week of rest.

really low. those two factors have not come together today. no red flag warpings and no fire weather watches. taking a live look outside, we certainly have that sunshine and it was a warm day. few more high clouds are starting to build now into the denver metro area. and we're going to have a few of those clouds linger until this evening clearing out tonight. our current temperature, 83 degrees. yeah. broke that record of 80 set in 1966. 81 in greeley. 78 for fort collins. we have lower middle 80s on the eastern plains. 60nd and 70s -- 60s and 70s for the mountains. here outside in the 9 news backyard, lots of sunshine. our current temperature 83 as well. so we're matching those temperatures out at the airport nice and warm. as we head into the next couple of days, believe it or not, we are expecting pretty much more the same. more the same tomorrow.

not a lot going on across the state. it is a pretty boring forecast. elsewhere, totally different story. let's head on up to the northeast. check out all the snow reports that they have. this is just a few. anywhere from 2-4 inches of snow right now reported on the ground. this system is continuing to trek up the northeast where they have very chilly temperature temperatures. completely opposite fo in colorado. out to the west we are monitoring a few rain showers just off the california coast, stretching up to northern california and through the pacific northwest. watching these, because we are expecting a weak disturbance to bush through over the weekend. that will cool us off. the big question is does it bring denver some rain? right now it doesn't look leak it. also off the coast we've got a tropical storm still to tell you about. this was a hurricane just a few

storm seymour. the winds have died down to 65 miles per hour. it will progress to the north, northeast becoming a right lane depression by thursday with those winds down to 45 miles per hour. and it will be carrying some moisture with it. so we will be watching as that pushes on shore over the weekend as well. here's a look at your forecast for the next 24 hours. the one thing that will impact our forecast for tomorrow are going to be clouds. 'v mountain wave cloud that will be developing just off to our west over the foothills. the big question is, do we get more of those clouds in and over the denver metro area. if you have lived here long enough, you know that if we get the clouds coming in off the foothills, that can mean a significantly cooler day for us. if we don't, we will warm up fairly quickly. at this point it looks like the clouds will stay to the west and we still should see south westerly winds which will help

the low 80s for tomorrow afternoon. potentially breaking another record high. we are not expecting rain or snow across the state. just extra clouds from the western slope to the eastern plains. even into friday night. by about 11:30 on friday, we will start to see rain develop in eastern utah. that could push into our mountains as we head into the weekend. but for denver, still a pretty dry forecast. that area of high pressure aloft is still in place. this is just building into why we are so warm. and it's still in place even as we head into saturday. breaks down a little bit by saturday afternoon. our temperatures will be cooler with highs in the 70s. but that is still way above average for us this time of year. speaking of the forecast, let's compare it to where the records are. over the next couple of days, records hang out in the upper 70s and low 80s. tomorrow we've got another chance to break a record. we are forecasting high of 82. record high is 80.

temperatures on sunday. because sunday it looks like we will get to the upper 70s and record high is 80 degrees. so we will be within a few degrees of that record. we will be on record watch once again sunday afternoon. next week promises to be cooler and next week we've got a chance, a small one but a chance for rain around here. your forecast for tonight calling for lows in the upper 40s. that is very warm for late october evening. 43 degrees our low for greeley. 45 for eastern plains will see lows in the middle to upper 40s. up around sterling a little cooler. 49 will be your low. in the mountains 30s and 40s. middle to upper 80s on the eastern plains. lamar could be close to reaching 88.

worker. she is a retired schoolteacher. this is in butler county. she has worked elections since the early 80s. this year she will be recording election data by hand in case a machine malfunctions. that is what you do. and she says her favorite role is greeting voters when they come in to cast their ballot. >> i would cast my ballot in person with a smile like that. she brings up a great point. with more people registering to vote, they need volunteers. >> we have video from a voter volunteer drive in the san antonio area. about a week ago the county was about 160 volunteers short so it reached out to san antonio's tech industry to help close the gap. this volunteer drive is at geek dome headquarters. led by local tech group and voter coordinator says it rests on the young people and getting

pet line 9 time. we have a special girl for you today. i would like to introduce you enya is a basanji mix. she comes from the aurora animal shelter. she is so sweet. she is two years old. she is spayed. we'll have to tell you if you go and visit her at the shelter, she's having a tough time. she has not been there that long but she is really timid and shy. once she gets out and about, she is so sweet. does great on a leash. so well mannered. so she needs a loving family to help boost her confidence.
