12:00 pm
welcome to 9 news at noon with breaking news. fbi is telling congress it is
12:01 pm
whether new e-mails emerged may contain classified information. the fbi said in july that the investigation was finished. this raises the possibility of the fbi reopening criminal investigation involving clinton days before the election although it is not clear if that will happen. clinton's campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. we'll keep you posted. crews are trying to rescue an injured hiker in clear creek county. chief wiol 20 year old woman suffered serious head injuries. we don't know yet how she got the injury. a medical helicopter has been called. we will update you with more information as soon as we get it. good news, a colorado man is nearly $10 million richer today. right now he is just going by his first name, greg. he won a $9.9 million jackpot. he lives with his 80 year old

seven-11 store. actually he got two because the first check was missing a zero. they corrected it though. what's next? >> hopefully won't change me but it changes my circumstances although i will keep working for a while. >> he is going to keep working. greg says he and his mom are planning a big alaska cruise. i can think of a lot of ways to spend t several thousand feet up the divide, not much snow for october 28. it is not looking like fall yet. it is a good thing for the kids who want to go trick or treating in the nice weather. can the kids go jacket free on halloween? governor pence is getting back in the air on a new plane the day after his campaign
12:03 pm
new york's laguardia airport. they have switched to another boeing 737 for today's travel to pennsylvania and north carolina. the plane is operated by a private charter company. pence's campaign plane had a rough landing in the rain yesterday. it slid sideways off the run way and into the grass. >> as soon as we landed, we could tell they were trying to break the aircraft pretty quickly. we felt the plane a little bit and then it slid sideways. when we saw the mud splash on the windows in front of the aircraft, we knew we were off the run way. >> luckily, no one was hurt. we have our 9 news aviation expert with us now to talk more about this. faa says it was something called a crush able concrete run way that stopped the plane from going farther and maybe ending up on a highway.
12:04 pm
work? >> e mass. it's engineered material arresting system. basically it is a breakable material so when the weight of the aircraft starts to settle onto this material, it breaks up. think of styrofoam. if you were to drive over styrofoam, it breaks and would slow you. that's what this material is. it is engineered material because there are not long over runs at laguardia and of course there is water and dirt berm thou water. >> not all airports have that. do we know if denver does? >> denver doesn't because we have very long run ways. when i did the little rock accident in 1999 with an md80 that went off the run way and killed 12 people, after that they installed this emass.
12:05 pm
about those. could that hold a clue in the case as to what happened? >> absolutely. one of the biggest thing for investigators is to get the information especially off the flight data recorder. they will be interested in the crew communications. were they prepared? were they aware of the weather conditions and the condition of the run way because it had been raining. the possibility of hydroplaning always exists there. the investigators will use that to determine whether or not of the passengers said it was a hard landing. >> they could feel it right away. >> it may have bounced and came down a second time. there was a question as to whether or not it came down halfway down the run way and if so why. that could affect the ability to stop on the paved surface. >> so many questions to be asked. all people are important but with the vice presidential
12:06 pm
best. >> absolutely. when you think about a vice presidential candidate on an airplane, what are the odds that it happens to his plane and not the plane ahead of it or behind it. >> yes. we appreciate your expertise. >> you're welcome. big changes to the health insurance exchange will mean choices for those who need health insurance. 14 of the 64 counties will have just one airier, anth counties on the western slope. denver, jefferson will have five to choose from. because of the changes in choices the colorado division of insurance says about 92,000 people have to switch plans during open enrollment. that begins on november 1. it's almost the day everyone has been waiting for. kids, big kids, adults. >> lots of places are haunted in denver for real and for

northern colorado as things begin to break up. in the backyard the sun is out. it is being filtered through. we are already at 75. it's going to be a very warm day today. as we anticipated we are moving this cloud off the front range and thinning it a little bit. we are hopeful to get rain. this big storm in california and nevada will mostly move into idaho and wyoming. we are looking for four to eight inches of yellow stone tonight. thin clouds, we stay dry mostly in the low 80s with low to mid 70s in northern colorado as they catch up with 60s and 70s in the foothills. clouds are thin. we'll have that for the afternoon. this evening, light showers in western colorado. they're going to be very few and very far between and extremely light tonight and tomorrow morning. i just don't think they're going to survive on this side

talk about this. this has so many rave reviews for being such a great breaking show. >> it is. >> it has so much firsts being all women to write it, the only one to win a tony that was all women, first openly lesbian character, following her through a series of life events in her memory. why do you think something like that stands out? normally, i wouldn't think that this is something that needs to be identified in a play. why does that matter? >> around that. i was sort of like can we stop sensationalizing this maybe a little bit? it turns out that it was really vital to the reason this was a ground breaking theater. there is something to this when you see yourself on stage, when you are validated and you are reflected back through art or media. there is something very
12:17 pm
so being the first lesbian protagonist leading lady on broadway, it was a great giant big monacre hanging over my head. i was like it's not not true. it's true. the show is so much more than that. >> yeah. >> it's so much more. >> tell us about allison, the leading character. we see her at three different stages of life. >> yes. she's just a delightful little person who grows up in dad is the town's under taker and the town's english teacher. her mom is a local historian and actress and they're painstakingly redoing this home. the home becomes a character in
12:18 pm
this beautiful home built in the logging industry. but that is a part of the story. the story hinges on the father having a secret and the secret making him angry and crazy. >> and she's looking back after he dies to learn so much. >> oh, that's what was happening that day. >> we've got the details on our website. we want people to go and see the show. it's getting so >> it's a beautiful piece of theater. i have to say it's hard to describe it and make you go, yeah i think i want to. you have to trust the hype and buy your ticket because there is something going on in the story telling and in the modality of how the story is told. but also in the relationships. >> it's something you just have to see. >> you have to. >> we appreciate you stopping

12:24 pm
we will mix the filling. to make the mild combine cream cheese, colby jack, gar lynn, school i don't know -- garlic, scallion. fill each half with filling. time to wrap these up mummy style. take your together diagonal seams, cut five long strips with a pizza cutter. use one strip to wrap around each jalapeno popper leaving room for the eyes. make sure you cover your baking sheet with parchment paper so the poppers don't stick to the pan as they cook. when done wrapping place the poppers in a 400-degree oven for ten minutes. once done, take them out and add the eyes.
