it just shows there is no particular fire season in colorado. we can get these wildfires that spark up just like that and you see them go because we've had gusty winds. the winds are finally backing off a little bit in portions of douglas county which is great news now that this fire is 100% contained. those winds have quieted down significantly in highlands ranch and littleton. unfortunately there is still a lot of smoke in the air. we do have health advisory in place until 9 a.m. tomorrow encompassing the entire denver county area as well as parts of jeffco and also into arapahoe counties, too. poor air quality will be happening if you have less than 5 miles visibility and all that smoke out there. the temperatures have been so warm this afternoon and truly this entire week. we've been sitting in the 70s and 80s this afternoon across eastern colorado, 50s and up in

snow season. above average october moisture often means above average snow. >> stake stickily over the years october is a good indicator for the amount of snow we'll get for the season, but it's not 100%. >> reporter: it's not set in stone. 2008 had a dry october, but then came a great snow season. >> probably 25% above. >> reporter: while last october was dry by early november griff and his crew were hanging ligh snow. >> the guys literally looked like they were climbing everest or something. >> reporter: one reason they got an earlier start this year. >> that's why we're here a couple weeks earlier this year. >> reporter: and you can see how dry it is out there. by the way, last october below average as far snow and moisture went and the season ended up right at average.

the lighting ceremony is december 3rd. i can pretty much guarantee you we'll have a little bit more snow here then than we have right now. >> maybe you will have a jacket by then. we know you will not be wearing a hat. >> reporter: no, no hat, maybe a light jacket in december. >> you're a hardy one, thank you. police are supposed to catch thieves, but 1 denver officer is accused of stealing a crash. officer julian archuleta was arrested today suspended without pay. earlier this month his body camera count him counting cash in a vehicle which included at least one $100 bill. the large bill never made it into evidence and was never mentioned in the written report. after being notified of an internal affairs instigation, archuleta told the detective it he found $12,100 bills which

recovering from injuries after a plane caught fire at o'hare international airport in chicago. the faa says american airlines flight 383 was preparing to take off for miami when it became engulfed in flames. one of the passengers or somebody on the ground took this video of flames and smoke. pilots aborted takeoff. passengers slid out using emergency chutes. american airline officials say there was an engine malfunction. the runway is still closed could cause delays if you've got a flight coming up. a bombshell, less than two week away from the election the fbi is looking into newly released e-mails linked to hillary clinton. the fbi director james comey sent a letter to members of congress saying the fbi should take appropriate investigative steps because investigators have learned of the existence of e-mails that may contain

write-in votes are being tallied. there is a team of two people republican and democrat at each station helping to verify and count the votes and making sure the ballot shows what was intended. unaffiliated voters are also involved in the process. it's all about transparency, accountability and accuracy, counting, verifying and checking in votes. >> i've done this a long time. a lot of the elections voters working in this room are full- time staff and have done this long time. nobody cares more about a fair process than the folks that are working in this building. the computer can't be hacked from the outside. they don't have accessible usb ports. on election night the results will be downloaded on external drive and moved to a separate computer to upload. police arrested a 23-year- old man in the death of a 13-

arrested by laramie county sheriff's department. he faces charges of manslaughter and reckless child endangerment. investigators plan on searching this landfill in weld county monday morning hoping they may find the body of the little boy. investigators say the child was last seen saturday. his grandfather called police wednesday. detectives believe the boy was dumped in a trash bin at laramie county community college. after buying lottery tickets for the last several decades it ended up for one man in lakewood. >> greg mr. climbed his $9.9 million jackpot this morning at the 7-eleven near alameda and garrison street. he lives with his 70-year-old mom. he said last wednesday he got up, checked his numbers and had his mom double them. he said his strategy is pray and play. >> she provided for me when i

welcome back. the new fbi investigation back into hillary clinton's e-mails, the candidate just wrapping up a short news conference about that investigation. in des moines, iowa, clinton calledn the fbi to immediately release all the information it has on her e- mails. that echos the sentiment of several republicans and conservatives who have call mails as with. she says she is confident those new e-mails won't change the fbi's conclusion that she should have faced prosecution over this and her use of a private server to do government business. again, the fbi announcing earlier today in an unrelated case involving anthony weiner there are several e-mails they are now looking into for whether they may have contained confidential information. we'll update this story throughout the night for you.

difference in the lives of some coloradans. >> reporter: 87-year-old donna tadlock is on a special journey at st. anthony hospital in lakewood. >> i've never heard anyone come out of it like i did. >> reporter: the fact that she's even walking now is a huge feat considering that earlier this week she had a potentially deadly stroke. >> my hand was very stiff. i couldn't move my right side of my body. i mean i felt like maybe i died >> reporter: strokes are the fifth leading cause of death in america, but donna's daughter recognized something was wrong and brought her to st. anthony, a hospital with something extra. >> did you ever think you'd be ab to e inside of your brain like that? >> reporter: dr. mark murray is the interventional neurologist at st. anthony who treated donna with a medical advancement called rapid. it's a software that helps doctors scan a stroke victim's brain to determine what parts

welcome back, everyone. we're taking a live look at sky9. the brushfire is now 100% contained. nice to hear, but we still have plenty of smoke left just sitting across the metro areas and that will cause some problems for some folks throughout the next couple hours just because it's tough on your lungs when you're outside. if you don't have to be outside, i wouldn't. we do have a wildfire smoke health advisory in place. this will last us around the denver metro tomorrow morning. on top of the fire and winds we had we're talking about record breaking temperatures, too. that new record of 82 degrees crushing our old record last set back in 1994. this has been an extremely warm month. so far we're in the running for the fifth warmest october on record. a slew of 80s across eastern colorado this afternoon, about 70 degrees in eagle and 60s in rifle and grand junction. right now out at the airport we've cooled things on.

still have clouds out there and the winds out of the east. in the 9news backyard it's comfortable, 77. not a lot going on in colorado, but you can see a storm system pushing into parts of the west now in the inner mountain west bringing light snowfall to areas above 10,000 feet and a little rain, too. i wish i could say this storm system is coming in our direct, but i don't think we'll see a -- direction, but i don't think we'll see a ton of precipio i think the high country might find a little precip, but that's about it. that cool front drops into eastern colorado by tomorrow afternoon and take our temperatures down a bit, but once again it's still above average this weekend. tonight we cool off to about 51, mostly cloudy skies, sunrise at 7:24 tomorrow. we're in the 40s and 50s, extremely comfortable with the blanket of clouds overhead. i think it keeps our temperatures very mild tonight. we're only dropping into the 40s for a lot of our friends in
