good morning, colorado. >> good morning, beautiful blue sky. this morning an amber alert to find a teenage girl is over. denver police tweeted there was no crime committed and the girl was not abducted. the whole alert was confusing in and of itself. dpd was not even sure the girl was abducted in the first place. it started with a call for police got from a witness that said the teen was being attacked by a man in stapleton. police asked people to be on the lookout for a gray van that dpd tweeted again no abduction, no crime committed. so there's that. colorado and 29th has reopened after a deadly accident. a pedestrian died after getting stuck by a car -- struck by a car in denver. the victim was rushed to the hospital and later died. west bound 29th was shut down while crews worked on clearing the crash. a brush fire in douglas county is out and the 800 residents forced to evacuate are now back home. >> firefighters were on scene

here's 9news reporter vida urbonas. >> reporter: it took about five hours to get the fire under control, that fire coming dangerously close to some homes. the chatridge fire happened off of highway 85 and chatridge court, the fire flared by the wind and dried grass. 12 agencies along with airplanes and helicopters fought the fire that near the chatfield the state and back country subdivisions. residents were temporarily evacuated and sent to cherry hills community church in highlands ranch, something people in the neighborhood say they will never forget. >> it's scary, i don't know how close it is. it can happen anywhere i guess. >> reporter: those who evacuated have been allowed to return home. the douglas county sheriff's office says no structures were damaged. the recent dry conditions made it tough and busy for fire crews. they are now investigating to figure out what caused the fire in the first place.

>> smoke from the fire is still lingering over the metro area. there is a smoke advisory until 9:00 this morning from castlerock to north broomfield and from the foothills out to the plains east of d.i.a.. 7:03 on your saturday morning. belen de leon joining us now with a closer look at where we can forecast. >> temperatures th but still a warm one for this time of year, highs in the mid- 70s. let's show you the cooldown on the 24 hour temperature difference map, 7 degrees cooler than 24 hours ago. for highs today will rise into the mid-70s, we are starting off with clouds in northern colorado but that will be clearing and we'll have more blue in the sky. in the high country we are banking on rain and snow, crossing our fingers for that actually. that's where is going to stay in the mountains. on the front range it's going to stay bone dry. the concern is still the fire

vegas before coming back to colorado tomorrow. a rally is scheduled at the university of northern colorado campus in greeley. friday he made it apparent he has a new outlook on the political system saying it may not be rigged after all. this after more news surfaced in connection to hillary clinton's email scandal. the fbi is investigating new emails that came from a private server. they were discovered during anthony weiner's sexting investigation, and came from his wife, huma abedin, who served as clinton's aid. to be clear, the fbi says the emails were not written by her contact. in the past, from criticize clinton for the way they handled -- excuse me, now he is saying the opposite. >> this is the latest political scandal from watergate and i'm sure it will be properly handled from this point forward. >> hillary clinton is now trying to diffuse the latest bombshell in her email

fbi to let it all out. new emails surfaced in an unrelated investigation. fbi director james comey told congress the emails appear pertinent into the investigation as to whether clinton mishandled classified information on that email server. the fbi is not saying whether or not those emails are even significant. >> so we don't know the facts which is why we are calling on the fbi to release all the information that it has. >> she clarified, the fbi says it is not reopening the case and it was never formally cled act issues. the fbi's original investigation says her actions were careless but not criminal. by the way, the ymca is encouraging parents to vote by offering to babysit while mom and dad head to the zoe -- to the voting booth. this is called the zoe's day initiative. many parents find it difficult to vote because they have to take their children with them so some choose to stay home.

in with the ymca before dropping off your kids. the jonbenet ramsey murder case was 20 years old. for years, the investigation has been based on a bad assumption, human error distorting the science sent the search off hunting for a single killer based on a dna profile. former boulder district attorney mary lacy exonerated the ramsey family saying there is no innocent explanation of genetic material girl's underwear and longjohns. she claims the dna evidence could not have gotten there inadvertently. experts say it only takes 15 to 30 seconds to leave traces of dna behind. >> you shed 40,000 cells per hour. you are leaving your dna everywhere, wherever you go physically, leaving a small part of yourself. your quantity of dna is very small, the profile is extremely complex. the one thing this case is not, it is not a dna case pure and simple. >> lacy issued the exoneration

the lab that did the testing for the office later provided her with a report showing that the unknown dna on the longjohns was likely a mixture of genetic material from at least three people. but that was never before made public until now. just last month, ramsey lawyer, lynn wood, news the exoneration to challenge news reports that suggested it might be a family member, not an intruder, who killed jonbenet. a former rocky mounta longs peak has died. 60-year-old jim dedilinger's body was found tuesday outside of alan sparks, deputies say he was wearing climbing gear when he was covered -- discovered line between proclamation. is close friends that he was passionate about lung speak and hiked in more than 400 names which is how he got the name mr. lung speak. a denver police officer cut on his own body cameras stealing money told investigators the cash must

from a car that had been involved in a crash. water in cities now colorado springs is deemed unsafe to drink, contaminated with chemicals and now could be worse than thought. it is used by the peterson air force ba they stop sending contaminated wastewater into sewers last year but criminal investigators are looking into 150,000 gallons of tainted water from the base earlier this month. air force has already contributed more than $4 million toward filtering water for security, whitefield, and phone. all that nasty looking smoke that poured out of a commerce city refinery weeks ago release more dangerous chemicals and investigators originally thought. according to the denver post,

we got into the 80s. mid-70s i still consider pretty nice. the forecast is going to stay dry across most of the state with the exception of the high country that has a possibility of seeing some showers, rain mixed in with a little bit of snow. in fact that's what we have on parts of the western slope and fort valley. on the front range we have clouds starting off the day, especially northern colorado but give it some time, then the clouds will break up and we'll see more sunshine. i 1:00, temperatures the mid-70s. if you can have lunch out on the patio. it sounds like a great idea or picnic in the park. take the kids out there to burn off energy or head to the pumpkin patch. temperatures will be in the 70s around 3:00 and through this evening skies will remain mostly clear. the temperatures outside right now are in the 50s. in the high country we have a few 40 degree readings, 30s as well near leadville and out for the western slope, 57. our friends on the eastern plains have temperatures around 44 degrees. your highs for today will be in the mid-to upper 70s almost

going to be toasty her down there where we will have temperatures in the mid-80s and the mark. in the mountains, temperatures in the 60s and 50s, the western slope, 70 degrees. if you are taking a snowboard up to a-basin today, there's a chance for some scattered showers. 59, then warmer tomorrow with a smaller chance of any kind of rain. here's what's happening. we have a week front moving through the state, hence the cooler temperatures, but also the possibility for some of at while the forecast in the city stays mainly dry. through lunchtime it kind of dries out in the mountains and in the city, we'll have more blue in the sky. through tonight, skies will be clear but watch what happens overnight and through tomorrow morning. we'll have the component of southerly winds and easterly winds and that will cause areas of fog got on the eastern plains. again, the rain forecast taking us through tomorrow morning, any amount of rain that we do

minute, taylor has the highlights a little later in the prep raleigh. after a pair of record- setting days, temperatures over the weekend will not be as warm, we broke another record yesterday in denver, there is a smoke advisory until 9:00 this morning from castlerock north to broomfield and from the foothills out onto the plains east of d.i.a. after a fire broke out there yesterday in douglas county. >> look at that sunrise, that looks beautiful. belen de leon is here with the forecast. we need some sort of moisture or something to get rid of these y the chance for any kind of moisture today is going to stay mainly in the mountains. the forecast on the front range still really dry. temperatures cooler than yesterday but still above normal for this time of year. let's get to the graphics, are high for today will be around 76 degrees yesterday we got to about 83. we have clouds in the sky this morning, especially for our friends and northern colorado

temperatures now across the fron range, 50s and 60s, lower lying areas like really have more clouds and temperatures there are in the 40s. here's what's happening across the state, you can see moisture building in from the southwest mainly along i-70 and the high country where we have rain mixed in with a little bit of snow in higher elevations. but no travel advisories have been issued so it looks like getting around in the mountains, you will be just fine. here on the front range we start off with clouds. this afternoon they will k lots of sunshine as our highest top out in the mid-to upper 70s. outside right now, 50s, 40s, and up and over the divide, very similar looking temperatures, we have a weak front pushing through. that's the reason why our temperatures aren't going to be as warm as yesterday but hey, 70s in october? i'll take it. we have a cooldown coming up in your extended forecast. i'll let you know when it starts to dip coming up and if you. >> sounds good, thank you.

people near muscle. they have taken tens of thousands of people hostage to use as human shields. meanwhile, iraqi forces have pushed into an islamic state held town south of the city after a wave of airstrikes. they launched an operation to cut isis supply lines, this is expected to be the biggest ground offensive in iraq since the us-led invasion of two into 13. -- of 2013. nearly a month after hurricane matthew hit haiti, people have limited access to clean water. officials say 90% of the supply systems in southwest haiti were damaged by the storm that struck in early october. it also contaminated rivers and wells in pre--- three provinces. authorities and aid groups say they have detected fecal matter and e. coli bacteria in drinking supply. international relief teams have been cleaning contaminated wells and distributing water

britain should get paid vacation days and be guaranteed a minimum wage. the case could encourage similar labor actions by uber drivers in other countries. the company plans to appeal the ruling. if it is upheld it could increase the operating cost for the service. in the u.s., a federal appeals court said in september that uber drivers for the most part have to resolve claims against the company on their own and not through a class-action lawsuit. the bells of london's big ben may not hold for 3 years because of old and runs every second of every day of the year. workers plan to fix water damage and rust, so part of the clock is still running. using pennies as weights to keep the clock on time, obviously, they have become notorious for this, so they don't plan to get rid of those pennies. >> seems like a good idea. a federal official is calling an airplane that caught fire a rare and serious type of engine failure.

burning american airlines flight at chicago's o'hare airport yesterday. smoke and fire engulfed one side of the plane, it is called an uncontained engine failure and it happens when engine parts break off and are spewed outside. some parts of the engine were found a half-mile away. video captured by one passenger caught the evacuation. some passengers tumbling down the emergency chute, eventually standing in the grass watching the go up in flames. the airplane had just tried to take off from o'hare for miami. >> we were 30 seconds into the safety video about do not grab your luggage in an emergency. and probably seven or eight people stopped and went overhead and grabbed their luggage. >> we heard a loud pop. and then, flames. >> officials say 161 passengers and nine crewmembers got off the airplane safely as firefighters fought the flames on the other side of the

a scary scene at a fort lauderdale airport when a fedex cargo plane caught fire. officials say this dc-10 aircraft just landed from memphis. it was taxing on the runway when the air -- landing gear collapsed causing the left wing to catch fire. a ground stop was issued and 29 flights were diverted during the closure. the plane was carrying u.s. destroyed. in new mexico caught on body camera, a dramatic rescue of an elderly driver after her car caught fire. >> go, go, go. i'll get you. >> [ inaudible ] >> i got to get you out first. >> you can see flames pouring

starting to come into the cab of the car. she is not stuck but obviously having a tough time getting up. this 87-year-old woman was being helped by a police officer who just happened to be in the right place at the right time. so police say this woman had been driving on a flat tire and was going to see her doctor when the tire caught fire. the officer of course put the fire out himself. we are told the driver is doing okay. >> so used to seeing bad video, it's nice to see a great video. pipeline protesters in central north dakota say they plan to keep more than 140 people were arrested this week as officers cleared a protest camp for private property. protesters blocked a highway and lay trees on fire. officers use beanbag guns and pepper spray to disperse the crowd. protesters have another camp on land owned by the army corps of engineers. deputies do not plan to clear that out. the pipeline is nearly complete, the 1200 mile project stretches across north dakota, south dakota, iowa and

is under control and under investigation this morning. fire consumed this building friday afternoon. firefighters got this under control but it is expected to smolder four hours. the cause remains under investigation. with news daily about both presidential candidates, many people are asking, can i change my vote? not if you mailed it in or dropped it off. it seems some more concerned about the latest revelation about hillary clinton's secret emails, the fbi reviewing a new stack. csu political science professor kyle saunders says no surprise, changing your vote, t >> as of right now we don't have the legal framework or the technology, we don't have any sort of way for people to change their ballot once it is cast. it's not some comment thread where you go in and rate something period, i like this article, and then change your mind. and you click the down arrow instead of the up arrow and you keep changing your mind. it is something hopefully more consequential.

in the mountains, 70s out toward the western slope. mid-70s for lower elevations and out on the eastern plains, posterior to the south and southeast where temperatures are in the 80s. as i mentioned, a cold front moving to helping to initiate a few of the showers in the mountains. but they are not going to last very long in fact, as we press play on futurecast, by 1 p.m., most of the showers have wind it down and around the city, our skies will be sunny. through tonight, skies will be clear but overnight, the possibility fome developing along i-76 and i-70 out on the eastern plains and near weld county as well, they are usually susceptible to areas of fog. 42 will be the overnight low, d.i.a. across the state through tonight and tomorrow morning will look like this, 30s and 20s in some spots in the mountains, but not quite freezing in the city. tomorrow, your forecast is looking really nice for game

engine failure. pilots were forced to abort a takeoff and evacuate passengers from a burning american airlines flight runway at o'hare airport yesterday. passengers rushed to escape as a smoke and fire engulfed one side of the plane. it is called an uncontained engine failure and it happens when engine parts break off and are spewed outside. some parts of that engine were found a half-mile away. video captured from one passenger caught the evacuation, some passengers tumbling down the emergency chute, eventually standing in the grass off of the runway watching the airplane they escaped go up in flames. airplane just try to take off from o'hare headed for miami. >> we were 30 seconds into the safety video, about, do not grab your luggage if in an emergency. probably seven or eight people stopped and went overhead and

8:41. welcome back. as we head into ski season, a reminder to be careful on the slopes. a snowboarder from douglas county was asked to pay more than $260,000 in a reckless scheme lawsuit. happened last year at boston resort, casey ferguson collided with a skier from behind injuring him. the skier who is a to miss three months of work because of his injuries. the summa daily reports that ferguson won't actually pay the damages because he lives with his parents, and their homeowners insurance covers the incident. however, this is certainly a reminder for skiers and snowboarders that you can be fined or sued if you do crash into somebody on the slopes. you can be held accountable for this. we have a detailed article about the do's and don'ts and some tips on what you should be prepared to do. decembers luminary festival

are in the 30s, 40s, even 50s out there. a little bit of everything in the mountains and this afternoon highs on the western slope will be around 70 degrees, 60s and 50s in the mountains and temperatures in the lower elevations in the 70s. if you are traveling to the south and southeast, temperatures will be in the mid- 80s for lamar. we currently have some showers mixed in with snow and higher elevations, but that is going to decrease and by lunchtime, much of the shower activity is gone around the mountains. in the city, our forecast starts to show a bit more sunshine, drive-through tonight, and then overnight and clear through tomorrow morning. areas of fog develop along i- 76, eastern plains around weld county. watch out for that if you're going to be on the roads tomorrow morning. 42 will be the overnight low, clear, cool, highs across the state, 30s and 20s in some spots in the mountains.
