breaking news this morning... a press conference wrapped up just now from the des moines police department on the shooting deaths of two officers. the officers were each shot 2 miles and 20 minutes apart in what authorities are calling ambush style attacks. the des moines police department working to get suspect information. good morning im cheryl here with marty corey and gary. more on the castle rock investigation in moments but first some parts of the state are waking up to light rain in some areas and wind is on the way for others.

dangeorus chemicals inside a home in castle rock, which is why the owners won't be let back in until it is safe. the house is condemned - for now. police found more than 20 containers in the home - from beakers to what police described as jugs. some neighbors tell us the teenager was really interested in science. all of the materials were purchased legally-- but when they are mixed together they can become dangerous. that's why police made this a hazmat siio evacuated neighbors until early tuesday morning. police says some containers were close enough to each other that static shock or even heat could've been enough to detonate them. police aren't saying yet , what specific chemicals they found. even though neighbors still have questions - they're thankful that they're safe. as of this morning-- police say it's not clear whether the

were involved or even knew about the chemicals. the 16 year old boy who had all the chemicals - of the teenage friend he was with when they were arrested - have not been charged in the case. the decision on that could come as early as tomorrow. donald's trump's campaign is trying to distance itself from a prominent newspaper -- after it came out in support of him. the washington post reports the crusader -- a ku klux klan paper -- has devoted its entire front page supporting the republican nominee. trump's campaign denounced the paper -- saying their views do not represent trump or the americans uniting behind his campaign. despite the controversial endorsement-- trump's campaign continues to turn its attention to voters in key states. in wisconsin - and earlier in

wikileaks ... and the renewed emails investigation. in florida-- clinton was taunted by protestors chanting "lock her up" outside a rally with former miss universe alicia machado. she was then heckled in fort lauderdale and she didn't hold back. clinton will be in arizona for a rally today then she heads to nevada for a get out the vote event. on the other side -- trump is setting aside part of the day to open his new hotel in washington. he'll then head to pennsylvania and miami. both campaigns will be in colorado this week . chelsea clinton will be be in boulder this morning after a stop in aurora last night urging early voting. republican vice presidential

three percent bigger than this year's. it calls for 500 million dollars in cuts or transfers in transportation-- education and other areas. students at heritage college in denver-- won't be in class this morning-- after the school abruptly announced it's closing

and harlan - it was the only word students got. the flier claims heritage doesn't have enough cash to keep going. it is a for profit school. students and staff tell 9 news they were blindsided by the announcement. we reached out to heritage college and have yet to get a response from them. the colorado department of higher education - says it hasn't heard anything from heritage either. however a spokesperson tells us the department has heard from a number of reliable sources - that heritage closed all 10 of its campuses yesterday. the state says it's waiting on confirmation before looking for other schools to help displaced student.s this closure comes after closures of other for-profit colleges -- including regency beauty institute and i-t-t tech. a denver police officer is out on bond today after the district attorney formally charged him for tampering with evidence. officer julian archuleta faces two charges of first degree

an internal investigation found a body camera recording showing him going through a person's pockets. it shows him taking out cash- including at least one 100 dollar bill. later- archuleta admitted there were twelve 100 dollar bills in his bag -- he said they "must have fallen in his bag." he is suspended without pay. there is a computer code out that allows blackmailers to search through your photos on photobucket. an hacker who sold that code will spend almost a year and a half in prison. the denver post says brandon bourret has been sentenced for selling the code to help people find nude photos. denver-based photobucket is a website for 100 million users who store photos in public or password- protected albums. hot temperatures are forcing at least one ski area to push back its opening. when keystone says it will welcome snow sports coming up. then denver got

expected to make a statement today on whether or not a key interest rate will go up. the federal open market committee-- which is a branch of the federal reserve- will wrap up a two-day meeting this afternoon. they're expected to signal whether it will raise interest rates next month. analysts say they don't expect the rate hike now... but do expect a slight increase after next month's meeting. some believe the rate hike is being held off so as not to affect next week's presidential election. triple-a will release its annual thanksgiving holiday weekend

moines , iowa... in an ambush style attack while they sat in their police cars. police say it happened around one a-m with reports of shots fired. officers who respondeded found one of the officers suffering from a gunshot wound -- and then the second officer was found shot not far away about twenty minutes later. so far -- no information on a suspect, and no arrests have been made. we will have much more on that throughout the morning... meteorologist marty coniglio is joining us.... marty- a little cooler today... coming back down to reality. six days to go -- and
