[ laughter ]

rod mackey was first in the locker room. >> reporter: thank you. that was a tough one to start with with the guys running the ball. you couldn't stop that run. >> you know, rod, we lost the field position battle all night long. we started slow offensively. we played defensively early and then gave up 200 yards pass rushing. it was a team loss. in all phases, we weren't good enough to beat any team tonight, especially a good team like the raiders. we and get ready for next week. >> reporter: and then it looked like y'all bounced back and at halftime, looked like you were back in. >> yes, made some good plays. but they controlled the line of scrimmage and clock. not enough. not enough to beat a team like that. >> after losing like this in what was a huge game, what was said in the locker room there? how do you get everybody ready for new orleans? >> you know, rod, i think
10:09 pm
be honest with you. that's how we approach it.just telling the truth. just like i told you. we have to man up and go back to work this week and play a team that's playing really, really well right now. so it's about moving forward. got to improve. >> reporter: appreciate the time, folks. thank you. all right, guys, send it back to you. other big local sports news for the first time ever. rockies are going to a left- hander. but black has been hired as the seventh manager there black replaces walt weiss who resigned after four years in the dugout. and right back to the locker room where rod is with chris harris, jr. >> reporter: chris, you've lost a couple this year. but this one is different. it's real quiet. is it the magnitude of what you knew what was on the line
10:10 pm
anytime you lose, you're upset. there's still a lot of football to play. we have to get back to business and try to get a road win next weekend in new orleans. >> reporter: one thing we saw in this game that we haven't in the past -- at least not the way it was -- was the running game. they were able to run all over this defense. >> that is something we have to fix. it's been leaky the whole season. we have to figure that out and really point the emphasis on that we're doing. >> reporter: i know it's not an excuse and you won't use it, but you were banged up. marshall was out there. wolf went out. you had a hand on your back. >> it's tough. it's part of the league. it's part of the process of everybody has to step up -- i wouldn't say the injuries are anything -- of course they hurt us. but that's not why we lost. >> reporter: motivation, why did you lose? why? >> they pounded the ball! . they ran the ball good. they threw the ball.
10:11 pm
they played great defense. outplayed us on defense. our goal was to always be the best defense on the field. and we weren't today. >> reporter: the coach saying that all the games are big. but with what happened tonight, it does make the saints game bigger, right? >> every game is huge. we have to get back on track next week. the game is still up for grabs. we still have a chance to win that and get in the playoffs. >> reporter: all right, thank you. dr >> resident thanks, rotted. i thought the raid -- thanks, rod. i thought the raiders were overrated. because their defense is 32 out of -- 31 out of 32 games. and last week, they just set a new record for all-time penalties in a game. but, man, i guess i was wrong. they pummeled the broncos tonight. the broncos were the less disciplined one.
10:12 pm
stellar like they usually are. this is why i say stats are stupid. trevor siemian on paper outplayed derrick carr tonight of the raiders. wasn't even close! >> i saw that! more yards passed! >> wasn't even close. said he had 100 more yards passly. but clearly did not outplay him. back to the locker room, one of the broncos touchdown scores tonight. >> drew, appreciate it very much. last week the broncos seemed to -- last week, the raiders took the penalties. this week, the broncos seemed to be taking the brunt of it. we haven't seen that broncos defense to that extreme so far this season. >> he was doing something with the running game, helping them bail it out. he threw it down. i said earlier this week, man, we stop the run and have a chance.
10:13 pm
>> reporter: how do you make sure this doesn't happen again? this is a game where copycat league, teams do things to other teams. you know what to adjust to. >> we have to get ready, man. people think they can run on us. so we have to man up and come with it against new orleans. >> reporter: you have won five straight championships. kansas city just won again. and now the raiders took care so every win counts. we just have to handle our best and make sure we take care of ours. >> reporter: last thing for you. we've seen this team bounce back. it seems to be at your best with your blacks to the wall. you do right now! >> oh, yeah. we got, what? 7, 8 games left? we'll be all right. it's part of the league, man. if you don't bring your best every week, you'll be beat.
10:14 pm
to -- we can take this loss, man, and try to learn from it. >> reporter: thank you very
