set to go off in the middle of a mountain town. witnesses tell what they saw during a deadly shooting on the 16th street mall this afternoon. the day after the election is a busy one for the president elect. some of those who didn't vote for trump let their feelings go public. and we ask for one word to describe the days emotions. teamwork from the broncos on the latest internet craze although we're not sure why one of them decided to strike this us 9news starts now. the call for unity and a peaceful transition has not resonated with everyone everywhere. in cities across the country people are refusing to accept the results of last night in the presidential race. in front of trump tower a group held signs and chanted not my

west coast. five people were shot near the protest in seattle. police say the shootings were not related. a small crowd gathered in denver in front of the state capitol. they stood on the sidewalk and got the attention of passing drivers. more protests are planned for tomorrow in denver. meanwhile the white house is getting ready to welcome president elect donald trump tomorrow. it will be about the transition of power. one that president obama says he addressed today. he says the of their way to help him and he plans to do the same. there's talk about the supreme court and president obama's nominee for the court. part of trimz's plans is to -- donald trump's plan is to begin the replacement process. he's considering a list of 20 potential nominees. come b up. trump -- coming up, trump's first 100 days in office.

colorado told kyle about the talk of massive deportations. gunfire in downtown denver ended with one dead and two in custody. police are investigating what led to the shooting near 16th and champa. we're there tonight. that is is a busy area. a lot of people saw what happened this afternoon. >> definitely, kooim. it happened -- kyle. it happened less nan a block away from the mall -- than a block away from the mall. police investigated in the street as well as in the hotel. we know from denver police that two men were shot. both were taken to the hospital. one of those men died and this afternoon the other was being treated for injuries. after the shooting happened in the afternoon two possible suspects hopped on board an rtv bus. denver police were able to stop that bus on champa street. several viewers sent us cell phone videos showing officers with their guns drawn stopped in the middle of the street. first they ordered a man off

they have not made any arrests so far so they asked us to blur the suspects faces to protect the investigation at the point. one employee at a subway had a clear view of the suspects being detained this afternoon. she said she knew something was wrong when she saw that bus stopped in the middle of the street. >> at that time there was probably a swarm of cop cars. all homeland security. we thought it was weird. and then it was crazy when they started bringing out guns. >> another viewer sent us this video. also taken after the shooting. it shows a transit officer jerry, bringing a little girl and woman to safety this afternoon. you can see the bus stopped in the background. police have not released the names of the suspects or the victims in this shooting. and kyle, as for champa street it was closed from 15th to 17th for much of the afternoon.

>> let's here it for that officer jerry grabbing that little girl and getting her to safety. thank you. banks have a lot of cameras and they did what they were supposed to do in denver. the robbery happened in denver. the camera snapped the two parking their car, going inside, jumping the counter. they were about six feet none tall. one had pink gloves. they're hoping the car will be easy to pick out. it's a gold dodge, possibly a 2002. a man from california was told today he could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted of trying to set off a bomb. police say he left the homemade device and tried to set it off remotely. we were in court for the first

act, obamacare. trump calls it his contract with the american voter. trump's comments about mexico and illegal immigration made most believe he would have trouble attracting hispanic voters. they gave more support to trump than mitt romney or during bob dole's campaign against clinton. nationally hispanics favored hillary clinton by a 69 our partners at usa today looked back to elections. it shows the percentage of hispanic votes going the major parties. clinton's was the lowest since 2004. donald trump own campaign knew that winning was a long shot. his colorado campaign director told me today it wasn't just the media's polls that favored hillary clinton.

we invited people to tell us what they were feeling in one word. we got a lot of unique and thoughtful answers and several that came up again and again from different people. we have the completed board on our facebook page if you'd like to take a look. the longest way for loveland to start the ski season is almost over. they will open tomorrow morning. recent cold temperatures gave them the chance to get the te keystone will open on friday november 18th. two weeks later than it hoped. a look shows progress is being made. we're hearing brekz should open -- breckenridge should open soon. such an unusual november so mild and so dry. and the latest we've seen our snowfall in history since we've been keeping records.

if it holds together it could bring snow to us late in the week next week. so stay tuned. in the meantime it's a beautiful fall evening in colorado. the moon waxing so pretty out there. you can see it, clear skies tonight. a beautiful drive in the morning. no weather issues. i'm tracking a weak cool front which will take temperatures down. 74 in denver today. missing the record of 76 by two degrees and above the mid-40s between 6:00 and 5:00 a.m. winds out of the southwest but calm in the backyard where we have about 50 degrees outside the studios. as the hours progress the numbers are going lower. i like to do a feature called weather around the globe. and while we look at the radar composite and add features in there there's not a lot to show

but some interesting of note tonight. across the northern plain states they've had record high temperatures. 68 in grand forks north dakota. the old record 61 in 2010. san diego was almost 100 degrees today. this is a beach town. 94 degrees a record high in san diego. they're dealing with high fire dangers. pine county kentucky, nasty there. where is the rain? odessa, texas. almost four inches there. d portions of the southern plains tonight. high and dry in the colorado high country. making snow fast and furious in keystone and steamboat. that they'll keep going as we push out the opening dates further than what they anticipated. people making their travel plans and we need some help from mother nature. we're not getting it tomorrow. coming in as a dry front. a wind shift more than anything else. showers stay to the south of

tomorrow. 65 instead of 74. a pleasant fall day. with clear skies, it's going to be cold. 29 in pueblo. 50s in the high country tomorrow. almost 70 out west and i do have 70s back in the planning forecast. in the denver metro area for the rest of tonight it's beautiful, quiet and calm. kids will need a light jacket tomorrow morning. 39 degrees to start. and temperatures will hold in the mid-60s as wee the midday period. high at dia will be 65. yet another front coming on friday. no moisture. a cooler day friday. a warmer day saturday. temperatures trend down sunday and those 70s are back early next week ahead of what we hope will be an interesting storm setting up for late in the week mountain snow for sure but denver snowflakes? a week from friday. something to think about. something else to think about.
