president elect donald trump isn't getting much rest today, after the hard fought campaign and win against hillary clinton . we're taking a live look out at washington d-c now where he'll meet with president obama for a briefing as the transition begins. nbc's tracy potts has more from washington. president-elect :00-:07 "it is time for us to come together as one united people." that begins today... with the extraordinary image many tho would never happen: billionaire - now president elect - donald trump and his wife melania... side by side with the obamas at the white house this morning for private meetings the president says his transition team's been preparing for for the last year. president elect trump's win in at least 16 cities so far-- from coast to coast-- including here in denver. more protests are scheduled tonight at the state capitol in denver. a small group gathered there last night-- waving signs and getting the attention of passing drivers. these protesters

heard. especially when it comes to equal pay for woman and l- g-b-t-q rights. 9news has learned more there's also a demonstration planned in boulder at the county courthouse later this evening. happened across the pond as well. britains took the streets chanting "stop the trump" in front of the u-s embassy. russian president vladimir putin congratulated our president elect though-- saying he wants to work together to improve the "poor state" of relations between our two countries. stock markets in asia are back to normal this morning-- after big losses right after news broke of the trump victory. taking a lead from wall street-- japan's nikkei

start of trading. elsewhere in asia, benchmark indexes in hong kong, south korea and china all recovered ground they lost in the first hours after the election. if donald trump sticks to his plans - he will be busy in his first 100 days in office. in october, on the campaign trail he talked about his contract with americans. it focuses on, in his words, cleaning up corruption in washington, protecting american workers - and restoring security and the constitutional rule of law. he said he plans to criminal illegal immigrants-- although the government estimates there are about 170 thousand in the country. he wants to renegotiate the nafta trade agreement-- start building a wall on the mexican border, repealing and replacing the affordable care act or obamacare. and pass term limits for lawmakers - something republican leadership says it will not bring up. after this long and hard-fought campaign and such a stunning upset over hilary clinton-- trump will take

polls said leading up to election night. analysts and authors say loftiness toward trump's supporters -- describing them as one-deminsional or racist and stupid-- may have been what pushed him over the top. trumps comments about mexico and about illegal immigration - made attracting hispanic voters. that block of voters - actually gave more support to trump - than it did to mitt romney or in bob dole's 1996 campaign against bill clinton. trump was also able to get almost twice as much free media coverage than his opponent. this despite trailing hillary clinton in funding for advertising. from july 2015 to the end of october, trump received $5 point 6 billion dollars worth of earned media time -

jury selection in the trial for a man accused of killing his 6 year old son will begin today. arapahoe county deputies say brandon johnson killed his son riley in february this

assaulted his live in girlfriend-- then she went to a neighbor's to call for help. when deputies got there they found riley dead-- the boy's mother later says she thinks he was trying to defend johnson's girlfriend. he's facing murder and sexual assault charges. the trial is expected to start monday and last through the week. the search is on today for two men who robbed the keybank on colorado boulevard in denver. the robbery happened monday. the cameras ap running inside - flashing their guns and jumping the counter. both robbers are about six feet tall. they wore black hoodies and face masks. one had pink gloves. the f-b-i says they got away in a gold dodge intrepid- possibly a 2002 model. if you see it, call metro denver crime stoppers - you could get a reward and you don't have to give your name. the wait is over at loveland ski area today-- as slopes open this morning.

community of nederland won't be anytime soon. david ansberry--a 64-year-old californian is accused of looking to blow up the nederland police station over the death of his friend 40 years ago the assistant u.s. attorney assigned to the case told the court the bomb was sophisticed and laced with arsenic. ansberry has pleaded not guilty. investigators say ansberry tried detonating the bomb with a prepaid cell phone. people living in the community say they're just glad it didn't go off and no one was hurt.

police were able to track ansberry to chicago where he was arrested. ansberry currently faces charges of attempt to detonate a weapon of mass destruction, which as we mentioned carries with it a possible life sentence. a group in denver advocating for pipeline protestors in north dakota ll to give an update on the situation there. colorado state representative joseph salazar is set to appear with denver stands with standing rock later this afternoon. the democrat says he's been in communication with the white house and the department of justice. protestors have been camping out at the construction site for the dakota access pipeline for weeks. they say: building the pipeline through what they say is their ancestor's burial grounds - is like putting a pipeline
