protesting donald trump's presidency with the slogan 'love trumps hate' -- other groups are venting with passionate anger. all of this outrage as trump heads to the white house to meet with president obama today. 9news reporter vida urbonas is covering the trump transition today. vida -- the meeting is expected to be very police and professional, a sharp contrast to the protests. protests across the country were for the most part peaceful .. we have seen at least 16

but some anti trump demonstrations on the west coast became destructive late wednesday night. in oakland protests were calm early with marches and demonstrations. police in oakland say up to 7 thousand protesters marched in the city... but officers say smaller groups vandalized businesses and attacked police with rocks, bottles, fireworks, and molotov cocktails. some peple were caught on camera smashing a police car... while others broke windows and lit fires. and in los angles protesters lit a trump head effy before president- elect trump and his wife melania are expected to meet the obamas at the white house this morning. it's for private meetings the president says his transition team's been preparing for the last year. mr. trump has 10 weeks to select a cabinet, and hundreds of senior members of his administration. then work begins on his promised agenda.. with a republican congress .. we will have more on his 100

marijuana is getting quite the push after this election. california, nevada, and massachusetts all voted to legalize recreational pot. that means big business for the industry -- up to trillions of dollars. colorado of course legalized the drug in 20-12 -- but denver election officials are still counting up the votes for a new marijuana proposition. the measure to allow peole to smoke the drug in certain businesses such as bars... right now the votes -- but we won't know until monday for sure. and the city and county of pueblo have voted to keep some 100 recreational marijuana businesses open. prominent business leaders and the hospital wanted to kick out the pot business there. they argue the industry has hurt the community -- but clearly voters disagreed. so pueblo will remain a major producer of the drug grown here in colorado. police and the f-b-i are looking for two six-foot tall men who they say

denver police say they robbed the keybank on colorado boulevard monday at gunpoint. officers tell us both were wearing hoodies and masks -- one had pink gloves. they were driving a gold dodge intrepid. if you see it -- call metro denver crime stoppers. officers say a man who shot another man -- and a police officer had a baby juan ramos had just put a baby in his car before pulling out a gun -- and shooting an aurora police officer in the face tuesday. they say it happened in the on east 45th ave in montbello. police say the other man who was shot -- antonio norwood -- died at the hospital. but the police officer survived.

this morning. the personal information of more than 21- hundred veterans in eastern colorado and kansas could now be compromised. veterans affairs says an employee emailed documents to himself -- which included full names, parts of numbers, and medical information. the v-a employee talked with the associated press -- describing the email as unauthorized wait lists that could be used to hide lengthy delays in providing care. ski season has

attacks. so far military members have gained just a small foothold in mosul. the attacks began four weeks ago. investors are hoping for a more steady day on the market today. donald trump elected as the next president sent markets on a rocky ride. hong kong stocks rebounded more than two-percent in the first hours of thursday trading. the dow jones ended up at 257- points after tumbling as much as 800 points in the late n seemed to level out as trump delivered an acceptance speech vowing to unify our deeply divided country. five people are in a seattle hospital this morning after a shooting -- and two are just hanging on. the seattle fire department says two of the five people have life- threatening injuries. police say it started last night in downtown seattle with an argument -- but some of the victims were just innocent bystanders. officers are still looking for the shooter -- who they say fled on foot.

his estranged wife, and his son divorced him over the killing, is heading to the high court. in 19-98, eight year old patrick holland found his mother dead in their massachusetts home. his father daniel holland, shot her seven times and beat her on the head with a rifle. holland is asking the supreme court today to appeal a judge's ruling not to give him a new trail. he argues that his lawyers failed to present evidence of his mental illness. this year's rockefeller center christmas tree will be cut down in oneota , new york today. the 94-foot tall norway spruce will make the journey to new york city on a 115-foot long trailer. it will arrive at 30 rock on saturday. then the hard work really starts. they'll wrap it with more than 50- thousand multi- colored l-e-d lights -- and crown it with a swarovski star. it will light up on november 30th during the live broadcast of 'christmas in rockefeller center.'

behind us -- our partners at u-s-a today is taking a look at what unites america. the history and scenery in all 50 states. they ranked the 50 most visited national monuments and memorials in 20-15. two in colorado made the list. the dinosaur national monument near the utah border came in at number 33.
